I recorded all of them on Tivo and watched the first. Is it worth my time to watch them all? People seem pretty disappointed.

Best way to watch it, I'd say. I really liked the ending. Far better than Taken.

It was decent. It's nothing spectacular, but I thought the story was pretty interesting.

I'd say if you're a fan of X-Files and don't mind connections between the two, then it's worth your time.....barely.

I liked it, and much prefered the "future" twist to the idea of aliens, personally.

I would definately watch this as a series.

So let me get this straight:

The people in the future live in a society close to oblivion, YET they have enough advanced technology to whip up a time machine that lets them pick up people from the past AND grant them incredible powers? Think they could devote that vast knowledge to straightening out their own world instead of depending on people in their past to handle it?

I HATE, HATE, HATE the time travel thing. Not only does it bring up too many paradoxes, but it was the lamest possible route the writers could have taken. I was hoping for God - or at least a higher power - and I got something that was very, very anti-climatic.

Or who is to say it's something that's just completely out of their grasp to solve the problem. I guess we'll never know until they do continue the series.

It's one thing watching a minseries but another devoting time each week to a regular series. I have a feeling if it is brought back, it won't do as well. I have mixed emotions. I enjoyed the show but I think they should have tied everything up and left as a limited series. I feel a bit jipped. On the other hand there aren't a lot of genre TV show so I will probably watch the show if it comes back.
What I am affraid of though is that it will just be another 4400 story each week but without all the mythology stuff and I think that will get old real fast. I want to find out more about why they are back but I am affraid they milk that answer for years.

Meh ... I agree with the general concensus. While I knew I was being baited into watching a potential <i>X-Files</i>-Ripoff-of-the-Week series, it still was annoying to watch it play out. I don't mind the story, but there was so much wasted time in this mini-series for the payoff to essentially be a tease. Either drag it out and give a great payoff, or give us a two-hour tease. Dragging out the tease for this long doesn't cut it. I won't watch the series if they make one.

Seriously, the series was interesting, but the ending was so unsatisfying that I would not waste any time at all watching them. There was no resolution at all.

Because the intention was to carry it over and make a regular series out of it. Not saying I liked it, but there certainly are reasons for the way it ended.

Can't believe they turned Keen Eddie into Jackass Eddie.

Yeah ... if they'd have billed it that way, I would have known to expect it, but they played it up as more of a miniseries. At least that's the way I interpreted it. I fully expected it to have an actual ending to the show.

Well, it may not have been the intention to make it a full fledged series, but the ratings were monsterous for USA.

I didn't expect a conclusion. The show was ok, but I'm not a fan of the acting (or maybe it's the writing).

As I was watching the show, Jordan Collier (the guy building the housing development for the 4400 who is curious about the blonde girl's baby) reminded me of Hank Scorpio, a one-episode character on the Simpsons (episode title: You Only Move Twice).

Scorpio: ...Ever see a guy say goodbye to a shoe?
Homer: [Chuckles] Yes, once.

That's almost exactly what my wife said.

Granted, not exactly quality competition, but for a cable network to beat the broadcast networks says a lot.

What's never included in ratings is how much money was spent to promote it. Much like <i>Stephen Spielberg Presents Taken</i>, this unprecedented television event was promoted significantly more than a typical series; and in this case, more than any of the summer shows, except perhaps <i>The Grid</i>. So, it doesn't surprise me that it had strong ratings.

The question to be asked (and never answered) is whether the money they spent to buy those ratings was worth it or not.

True but I would say The Jury and North Shore were more heavily promoted. NS particularly with claims that it was going to be the next O.C.

From a lot of the ratings I've seen, the cable networks are just cleaning up this summer: USA, FX and Sci-Fi all have highly rated series playing. The networks just seem to have one flop after the other this summer (other than Amazing Race)

That's because they are offering a good alternative to the mudane choices we get from the regular networks.

When will I ever learn "the mini-series lesson"?

They generally all start out good (to hook you) and then end with a whimper of silliness.

I knew this was a series teaser essentially, but I would I have liked a bit more closure.

If it eventually arrives as a series, I'll probably pass on what will likely be a "4400 of the week" storyline, with an occasional sub arc about the baby and the evil Jordan Collier tracking them down.
