I enjoyed it. More stuff happened in the pilot because, well it was the pilot and this is the actual show but I think it's still interesting. Not all the plots were wrapped up just the guy from Sex and the City's.
I do have to say that I hate Lily's Husband more each week. How long is this show going to be on? I know it's only for about 6 weeks or so. |
Still good enough to keep me watching next week.....next week looks to be a good one. :)

The 4400 7/25/04 "Becoming"
The Billy Campbell character Jordan has some bad ominous vibes to him.
Would aliens really care if humans sent back would "right" things, or "wrong" things with new powers? Is the 4400 just an experiment for aliens who had abducted them, and are just having fun with the humans? The serial killer with the power of suggestion seemed like a retread of something else I've seen before. |
An old X-Files episode.
|
"Pusher" to be more specific.

How many episodes total of this series are there going to be?
I am enjoying the episodes but I think we need to start getting some answers. Glad the kid has finally woken up from the coma. |

Glad the kid has finally woken up from the coma. My first reaction to last night's show: The Rocketeer is one of the 4400! My second reaction: Been there, done that. No bonus points for guessing that Billy Campbell's character will be a bad guy... |

I actually liked tonight's episode - maybe because I like the X-Files "Pusher" episode. Jordan is obviously giving off the bad vibes so we'll have to see what monkeywrench he thows in the mix.
Personally I hope they don't leave us completely hanging when it shifts from mini-series to regular series. I'm not sure I want to invest that much more time into watching this show. |
I'm glad a overall arc is becoming more clear with the abductions. Although I see the point of not wanting to invest more time with the series beyond the limited run, I'm waiting to find out more of the mystery and where it might be heading.

Will this show end like John Doe? Hope not!

The 4400 8/8/04 Miniseries Finale
Well, we got some of the mystery answered, only to be left with quite a few more questions:
Lily's baby? The true impact of the powers bestowed upon the 4399? Will Kyle be grounded? |
I was hoping they would have wrapped this up more.
I guess people in the future taking them is a more interesting way instead of an alien abduction. This was a decent series but I'm not sure I'd watch it if it comes back. |
They completely left it open for a return. I'd have to look at the numbers to see if they remained consistent throughout the entire show to warrant bringing it back.
Apparently there is discussion to bring it back: http://theedge.bostonherald.com/tvNe...rticleid=38919 |
This whole thing felt like a six episode teaser for another story. The whole UNPRECEDENTED limited series had me hoping there would be more of an arc to it with closure.
If tonight's "answer" (if we can call it that) was given in the second or third episode and had the last few episodes leading to whatever event they're supposed to help/prevent I would've been much happier. As it is now, it's nothing but a lame tease. I fully expect it to come back eventually with more silly "4400-of-the-week" episodes borrowed from the X-files, while the main plot keeps getting danced around with nothing really resolved. Don't know if I'll keep watching if(when) this happens, though. |
This could of been better but it turned out to be a bad clone of the XFiles. The only difference is that the twist isn't aliens but people from the future. There were so many ways they could've gone. I would've even preferred it if a bunch of the 4400 started to dress alike and formed a Superfriends ripoff.
This entire series should've been told in the 2 hour premiere and by the time this final eposide aired, the future should've been saved. I'm not hanging around for 3 years while Mulder/Scully-lite keep coming -this- close to the answers. The more I think about it, the more pissed I am that they pulled this. And even worse, a third of the series was taken up by some lame teen soap opera. 'You're the only good thing to happen to me.' Really? She broke up with your brother and then you slept with her(the next day) and then she blabs about it to him. Looks like she's at the root of your problems buddy. But she's hot so she can do no wrong. He really got over the whole 'I see you as a 14 year old' bit pretty fast, huh? Can't forget super evil agent guy. They made a big point in the beginning of the series that they didn't have a legal right to hold the 4400, but this guy can go around kidnapping people? And then he shoots the kid? Why? Did he really think a bullet would make things better? Of course not, but Kyle was about to explain the entire show and that would've stopped them from dragging it out another couple of years. (I expect this type of 'near explanation' will happen a lot during the reguar series). I thought Taken was long and drawn out, but at least Taken had an ending. D |
Wow, not at all happy with how this ended. The X-Files comparison is apt. I think a mini-series (limited series?) should have more of a definitive ending without so many opened threads.
I guess the Temporal Prime Directive doesn't apply to this series. You'd think the three producers with Trek backgrounds would know better. ;) |
I got that eh feeling at the end too. Probably won't watch this as a regular series - it is like X-files, which I never cared for.
|
I'm an X-Files homer and was throughly entertained from beginning to end. Sure its derivative. Still kept me itching for more and I'm ready for a weekly series. (Whoever REALLY thought they weren't baiting us has their head in the media sand.)
I think I was the most intrigued by the show's similarity to V. Was also impressed by Joel Gretsch, Jacqueline McKenzie and Peter Coyote (what a badass!) |
Originally posted by G. Noel Gross I think I was the most intrigued by the show's similarity to V. What similarities? |
Originally posted by Red Dog What similarities? - Big "alien" arrival sequence - Sense of wonder turns to growing distrust of the "visitors" - General "what's their true purpose?" plotline - "Humans" that ain't quite HUMAN - "Alien" pregnancy - Malevolent, though outwardly mainstream "vistor" leader - Forced, cornball teen romance - Forced, cornball adult romance - "Special" child - Civil unrest (only this time it's terrorism?) - Media manipulation of public opinion - Allegorical link to concentration camps |
Maybe the future people who sent the 4400 back in time are the Visitors!!
Now that we have that list, I can see the similarities. But, it really didn't occur to me while I was watching. |
Originally posted by Chew Now that we have that list, I can see the similarities. But, it really didn't occur to me while I was watching. Yeah I suppose. Of course, V is my favorite miniseries of all. I didn't have the feeling that this was an alien thing either, since that would be too obvious. |
