And here I was thinking Scruffy Guy was the "man from the future" released from Kyle's body when Shawn exorcised him, and he found himself back on the same beach where he inhabited Kyle in the season 1 pilot. Silly me.

Cheap trick used by nearly all the sci-fi TV series. I'm trying to recall the shows that had an accelerated-growth youngling, even for just one episode: Star Trek TNG, Earth Final Conflict, Angel, Smallville, and of course, V.

Yeah, that seems to reek of writers thinking "how long can we really work with a baby" and "you know, we need another hot chick". I guess we'll have to wait and see how it pans out.

I've watched both seasons, so to some degree I'm apparently hooked, but man, that show has some of the cheesiest dialogue/hammiest acting I've seen in a long while. Yet I keep watching. Go figure.

I'd really like to see the plots get much darker in tone, as seen in the Sherilyn Fenn ep.

Wow season 2 is already coming to an end!!! I bought season 1 at Walmart and still have not watched it. Well, I watched enough to know I would like it enough to warrant a purchase. I guess I can buy season 2 and start up a 4400 marathon!!

Los Angeles, CA – Sept. 29, 2005 – USA Network has ordered 13 one-hour episodes of the Emmy-nominated and critically-acclaimed hit series THE 4400, it was announced today by Jeff Wachtel, USA's executive vice president, original programming. The series, which received Emmy® nominations for Outstanding Miniseries, Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries and Outstanding Cinematography, will return to USA Network in summer 2006 with production scheduled to begin in Vancouver in early 2006. THE 4400 is produced by Paramount Network Television in association with Sky Television, Renegade 83 and American Zoetrope.

THE 4400 premiered as a limited series on July 11, 2004 on USA Network as the highest-rated and most-watched new series premiere ever on a basic cable network. More recently, THE 4400 became summer 2005's top original scripted series on cable in P18-49.

"Even in this increasingly competitive climate, renewing 'The 4400' was an easy call," said Wachtel. "Its compelling characters fit perfectly within the USA brand. And the creative team's ability to balance story, character and 'big themes' really makes this show unique."

THE 4400 explores the travails of the 4400 people who all at once returned in a ball of light to Earth; though the returnees had not aged physically, many of them reappeared with dramatic abilities ranging from enhanced reflexes to precognition. NTAC (National Threat Assessment Command) is the government agency responsible for keeping track of the returnees and investigating all things related to the 4400.

THE 4400 was created by Scott Peters and Rene Echevarria. Scott Peters, Maira Suro, Ira Steven Behr and Perry Simon are executive producers.

Still have to watch season two..

I didnt care for the 2nd season. It limped along and had a strong finale. They need to get some decent writers and a direction to the show or else it's going to sink.

Couldn't agree more. A lot of wasted potential, though it did come together by season's end. I just wish the writing would tighten up a little, because some of the dialogue is just dreadful.

I'm waiting for S3. If nothing else, then for Lilly :drool:

I pretty much agree... I found the first season surprisingly enjoyable and thought the show had definite potential (X-Men meets X-Files). But Season 2 just focused very narrowly on the cast members, had weak stories, and spent far too much time on soap opera. In reality, very little happened in the past 13 episodes; the show has possibilities to really shake things up and present plot elements with large implications, but it just spent all of last season spinning its wheels.

There was one pretty cool episode (the one introducing Alana -- similar to TNG's "Inner Light"), a bunch of mediocre ones, and a strong finish. I'm hoping that they can really turn it around in Season 3...

Awesome! Also from that llink, it seems there'll be a marathon of 13 "essential" episodes on June 4th starting at 9am EST. Followed by an hour-long recap special at 10pm. The special will also be streamed online starting this coming Monday.

I may watch the first showof the third season but I am not going to stick with an entire season if it sucks as much as the 2nd.

Well IMO I thought second season was amazing! I can't wait for the third to start.

I see that the entire first season (I think?) is being aired on USA starting tomorrow morning and then again the next night on SciFi.

Question: I haven't watched the show, barely know the premise - is it worth a shot? Is it kind of a mystery drama (somewhat) along the lines of Lost?

What did they just show on NBC? I just came home and watched the last five minutes of something to do w/ the show - was it a recap? the premiere of S3? Whatever it was it looked great.

The first season is amazing. I only just started season 2(which seems to have gotten mixed reviews). From the 3 episodes I've seen I like the direction it is going. They lead you in one direction for season one only to take you somewhere you hadn't expected in season 2.

I'd say it is a fair say that the 4400 is X-Men crossed with the X-files. The two leads are a second rate Mulder & Scully knockoff to say the least. So if that premise sounds interesting then it might be worth checking out.

The first season was beyond amazing, i watched the entire thing in one night. The second season had its up and downs with episodes much better than season 1 mixed with a couple stinkers... Season 3 looks like its going to be a lot more action orientated than mystery orienatated, and I am getting really excited for it.

Well, I'm a bit bummed that some of the eye candy is gone. .
