Sheesh. So is the last year for Vegas? Getting abysmal numbers for first run show.

Well, given its lead-in isn't helping them, NBC might give it another shot (maybe a 13 episode run). Remember, Friday viewership in general was going down even before the strike. It was a big win if a show could get above 10m viewers, lol.

Question is, will Friday Night Lights get a third season? A second run of House beat it by over 2m viewers and it lost over 3m from lead-in 1 vs. 100...

I can't believe the recap ep pulled in what it did.

ABC made a killing in the key demo.

But remember, it was going opposite a repeat of CSI (which still did well). Personally, it should've done a little better given the competition.

Nice ratings for LOST. I think if the rest of the episodes are as good as the first, they should comfortably do 15-16m each week until the eps run out.

Even though it's only one episode, I'm sure ABC's happy that they gained 4M viewers over their averages from late last season.

Oh yeah, I'm sure they're happy with it, but just remember, this is the season premiere... Unfortunately, I don't have the premiere numbers of last season to compare it with. I think overall, it'll average between 13-14m.

IIRC, American Idol might have some Thursday night episodes coming up against episodes 4, 5, and 6 of Lost (if Fox decides to air their boot-off shows in the 8 p.m. EST timeslot), which will syphon off some ratings from Lost.

If I remember next Monday at work, I'll post those #'s. I was just trying to compare how they finished their last month vs the premiere last night. Of course the ratings are going to go down, but I was really surprised they got that many viewers.

I would have thought that a lot of viewers gave up on the show after the long hiatus. But I guess we bombarded them with so many ads they couldn't escape it. ;)

Really? I'm skeptical. The only episode I ever recall being on Thursday (since Season 2) was the episode where the put the wrong numbers up on the Tuesday episode (Season 5??), so everyone re-sang, and they ran the results show on Thursday.

According to the American Idol website:

"The voting shows will air on FOX each week [...] and the results will be broadcast on FOX every Wednesday (for the first three weeks of voting, the results show will air on Thursday)."

Ha. Point taken. I wonder what the reason for the change this year is? Lost has done just about everything to get away from overlapping American Idol...they just can't shake them.

Edit: I must be losing my mind. I think they split the guys and girls on Tuesday/Wednesday and do the results show on Thursday for those first three weeks. That explains it. I think they started doing that 2 years ago. Wow, I can't believe I forgot that.

Lousy night overall. I do wonder what kind of numbers "Las Vegas" could get if it had a better lead in. It increased from "Friday Night Lights" by 21.6%. Sorry "FNL" fans, I like the show but those ratings are pretty bad.

Looks like this may have been the most watched Superbowl of all time.

I can't wait to see what the numbers for House are. Gotta be at least 30 million viewers.
