Loved the scene with Tina and Hyatt. Probably the hottest scene of the entire series. I only wish that FX had more money into this series and we would have gotten more than the usual 10-15 episodes. The writing has been solid.

Wow. WOW.

In ONE ep. we get Tina's ass (highlight of the SERIES, IMO), a deliciously diabolical Billings, Shane f'ing the entire crew AGAIN, the Aceveda pic, hardcore Ronnie, Dutch on the verge of another breakdown...awesome, awesome stuff.

The ONLY bad thing about this season is Julian's role. I love his character, and the arc where he was struggling with his identity is still one of my favorites. I was hoping we'd get more of Julian's reaction to working with Vic and the shady things that have been going on since his joining the team. Instead, he'd been relegated a bit player and he's now the LEAST visible character on the show.

Another great episode. Puppetmaster Billings cracked me up. The only season that I haven't seen is 3 (when I was getting caught up, it was the only one the library didn't carry; go figure), so I've never actually seen the episode with Aceveda's rape, although I've seen the "previoiusly on" snippet many times. I didn't know that there was a photo of the incident, so this week's ending really took me by surprise.

I went ahead and downloaded the finale tonight, as I don't want to wait a week to see how the season is resolved.

I got a feeling from Dutch's speech, post-Tina, that he may have been pushed over the edge. I've been expecting it to be just a matter of time before he becomes a serial killer.

If you're interested in knowing exactly what happened with the photo:
Spoiler:
There were two guys that attacked Acaveda: Juan and his buddy. Juan is the one who actually raped him, and had his friend take a picture with his camera phone. A few episodes later, Acaveda ended up following the two around for revenge, and caught them holding up a convenience store. While stopping the robbery, he shot and killed Juan's friend, and stole his camera phone, while Juan got away. Eventually he caught up with Juan, but had to arrest him and bring him to The Barn (Vic found them before Acaveda could do anything). While Acaveda was interrogating Juan, Juan claimed that the picture was downloaded off of the camera, but Acaveda didn't believe him, claiming that Juan and his friend were too stupid to know how to do that. He then threatened to destroy Juan's entire life (have him attacked in prison, get his mother deported back to Mexico, etc) if he said anything about the rape.

The big change is that we were always lead to believe that the pictures were never downloaded, especially because Juan's girlfriend eventually tried to get Acaveda admitting what happened on tape (implying that there were no remaining copies of the picture), but as it turns out, it looks like Juan's buddy did manage to download it before the camera phone was taken.

Thats a good point which has been very noticable throughout season 5-6, and I posted a theory about this very subject over on TheShieldRap a few weeks ago.

Speculation but read only after you have seen the season six finale as it contains info on other characters!!!

Spoiler:

Wow! I just thought about this situation and how it mirrors season 1. We might be right back to square one. With Hyatt gone we have a four person Strike Team again. Everyone has wondered over the last month or so just why Claudette would or could place Julien on the team when he isn't even a detective or even experienced enough. Here a possible answer presents itself.

Remember when Julien ratted the Strike Team out to Aceveda in season 1 over the stolen drugs? It was Claudette he went to for advice on the entire thing. He later went forward with the allegations but was scared back into keeping quiet because of his secret being exposed. Claudette knows this and knows Julien is the most likely candidate to report any wrong doing to her. It's her best chance at either keeping tabs on, or exposing the Strike team. Remember during the entire series Julien's character arc has been his struggle between determining right and wrong. My theory is that while Vic-Shane-Ronnie continue having internal and external problems Julien decides to bring them all down.

Also consider the parallels/themes at work here. Lem was the conscience of the team. Now Julien is the conscience of the team. It has already been pointed out in this thread that Julien's on screen time has diminished, yet we remember they included a curious shot in the first episode of this season of him crying at night over Lem's grave. Unlike Lem, Julien will rat on the Strike Team and live as a result.
Note: This theory was based on the fact that as other characters have had their stories move forward, Julien has been stuck with the same problems he faced in season 1. If the writers are to conclude every character's story, and I assume they will, this would be a fitting end to Julien's story.

So I don't see how he would have a problem with having Vic killed. If he'll have Federal agent killed(assuming he's dead) I don't see him giving a damn about Vic. In the long run I would think Aceveda would be more valuable to him.
Obviously he had something to do with the leak. Don't you think there would be a warnings flags raised, though, if Vic suddenly turned up dead when everyone in the department knows he's going after Pezuela? Pezuela can't really have him killed or it looks too suspicious, so he's trying to arrange it so that he has a politician and a detective working with him.

He didn't order them to kill the fed, he tipped them off that there was a fed in the gang. He has much more distance between himself and that then he would if he had someone take out Vic.

The undercover fed isn't missing or dead, he was sent to El Salvador to lay low.

Pezuela obviously thinks he can control Vic and has already figured out he can control Aceveda. Clearly, he's into something deep or he wouldn't be worried about Vic digging and finding it.

Saw the finale last night. Needless to say, spoilers ahead:

Spoiler:
Pretty uneventful, just a setup for the final season. Shane goes back to the first Armenian to try and stave off the murder of Vic's wife and kids. He is able to get a name and kidnaps Corine and Cassidy to keep them safe while he deals with the hired killer. He turns on Kezakian (sp?) and reveals his location but tips off the daughter, who plugs the plug on him. Dutch and Danny start a romance, which pisses off Tina, who is getting the cold shoulder from Hyatt and realizes that Dutch was a real thing, not a one time thing. Billings files a suit against the Barn for $3.4M for injuries during the Cavanaugh / Mackey fight and goes on "disability". Hyatt royally fucks up a gang initiation and Mackey has to set it right. Wymms realizes that she needs a little Vic in Vic's replacement and Hyatt isn't the guy, so she fires him. Acevada and Vic team up to discover Pesula is really doing - he has a trunk full of personal and embarrassing info on top city officials, judges and businessmen so he can push through a redistricting to control 5 boroughs in LA, including Farmington. The episode ends with Acevada and Vic gearing up to go after him

Pretty damn sly of them, IMHO. They remind us of it a month or so ago, wait until it's in the back of our minds again, and then come out of nowhere with a lead pipe to our collective skulls.
Sneaky bastards... didn't even catch that... ok, so they still don't have complete faith in their stupid American audience, but the way they did that was brilliant, then... remind everyone what happened, and lay the groundwork for new viewers, so they're not completely taken off guard, then give us just enough time to forget it... well done, Messieurs Ryan et all....

It'd be a grand conspiracy, but I'd love to see that Pezuela got the pic from Antwon Mitchell after he killed the guy for Aceveda. Anything to bring Anthony Anderson back to the show.

I'm surprised no one drew a connection between Dutch peaking in on Tina and Hiatt and his first season spying on Vic and Danny. Twice he has gone after a girl cop and twice been beaten to it by the current leader of the Strike Team.

Yeah man, Lem's death and Shane's turn to the dark side has been the best thing to happen to Ronnie's character. I'm still in love with his reaction to finding out about Terry's death. "If you had told me I could have protected you better." The guy is loyal to a fault.

Oh, and regarding the previews for next week, (just speculation)
Spoiler:
Does anyone think that the whole, "Shane's going after my family"/missing-kids-with-blood-on-the-floor thing is a feint, and that Shane's actually going to protect them from Run-Armenian-Run and that's what will repair the gap between Vic and Shane?

Doc
I realize I can't unring the bell, but I really meant to put my post in spoiler mode. I deeply and sincerely apologize for my f' up.
Spoiler:
Close, but no cigar.

I guess I'm stupid, but this topic is specifically about this weeks episode. Some people talk about the previews for next week, but it's still part of what was shown this week.

If you want to talk about a future episode that you've seen, make a new topic for it. Seems obvious to me.

Woah. They really did a good job with Billings this year. Last year he was the stumbling bumbling fool, but they made him out to be just as good as anyone in being a vindictive, manipulative jerkoff. I love it.

The Shield re-airs several times during the week. You should find it with little problems.

I previously read Doc MacGyver's spoiler ONLY because it was his speculation, but now I know it's "close, but no cigar".

It's been a long standing practice in most of the serial drama threads I've been in on this forum that UNTIL THE DATE OF THE EP, all conversation, even future based, remains in the previous week's thread.

Besides, if i had to wait until next Tuesday to post that, I wouldn't remember half of what I posted

Billings is so awesome, I cracked up when he was a slacker and even more when he's Dutch's nemesis
