The Shield - "Haunts" - 5/1/07
A lot of people didn't like last week's show, they thought that everything was too slow.
I found it slow, but slow as in that long slow climb up the first hill of a rollercoaster, just filling you with anticipation for the wild ride to follow. It wasn't filler, it was an ep to prepare you for the next wave of chaos to come.

OK, clean-shaven Ronnie...
Ummm, shouldn't Ronnie have a horrendous burn scar on the side of his face? That was the whole reason he grew the beard in the first place, I thought.
*edit* OK, now that they gave a better view of him, I see that he has faint scars along his cheek. I don't think they should be that faint, though... I thought he got burned as bad as Armadillo did.
Vic's expression when Shane said "do you ever think about coming clean? About everything?" was goddamned priceless. That's the mark of a great actor, to pull off an expression like that when you can't see his eyes.

I've watched episodes 5, 6, and 7 and yes, they are indeed huge.
As the first poster said, the slowness is just setting stuff up. It can't be all out all the time, they need to mix things up, and you don't appreciate it when things go crazy if there's no downtime.

Nice emotional ending. That, Vic finding out that he killed Guardo for nothing and the lack of last week's bullshit "I saw Lem in a dream" garbage is what set this week and last week apart, but both shows were setups for the shitstorm that is to come.
It was good to see Vic's old partner back, if just for one ep.
The only downside I really had with this ep was that as soon as the counselor from the kid's shelter came in and gave the info to Dutch, I said "this guy is the culprit, he's close to the case and he's giving up info quickly and eagerly." I said this before he even mentioned that his daughter was missing.

Nice to see Billings pissed off for a change as well. I might as well just watch the other episodes that are online seeing how they are pretty much giving the storylines away in the previews.

On the contrary, I thought this episode was moving very fast.
Confused about a bunch of things.
When they said they found Sabrina's body, were they telling the truth? The guy just made the news, how could they find her so fast?
Second, with the toilet scene, why were they giving him the eviction notice? Did they have anything to do with Shane's beating? Did that other guy who gave Vic a ride want them gone - why?
Shane looked pretty bad. Wonder what more shit could get thrown at him before the finale.

BTW anyone who hasn't watched any of the future epsidoes think that Acevada is being played by his political friends? They seem to have an interest, through him, at steering the boat with the mass murder that we now have learned involves a Mexican politican.
