All signs point to staging the crash, but if they didn't that leaves: purgatory, clones or the parallel dimension theories on the table. Personally I prefer the dimensional shift idea, but clones is seeming more likely. First you have dead folks roaming the island (Mikael, Jack's dad, Dave, etc.) and second I think a BIG clue is women on the island not being able to give birth. It just seems that the Others are ALL clones(except for Juliet who was brought in to help) trying to figure out how to procreate successfully to further their own existence. Third Ben was "born" on the island. Surely Dharma hasn't been there for 40 years. Fourth, everyone ignores the brainwash room that Alex's boyfriend was in. This could be their method of implanting false memories.

I didn't buy that there was actually a 'magic box'. Did anyone else? I assumed it was an easy way to mess with Locke (they had their research station that found out about all the survivors) since Locke already believes in the fantastical properties of the island to get him to do what they wanted. In this case nuke the sub. They likely just sent someone off island to nab him. Is there another instance where they have used this 'magic box?'


Well they know for a fact that she hooked up with Sawyer, video footage and all, so maybe just a pregnancy test or signs of being pregnant. Especially if they said the sperm is twice as potent on the island. Signs point to probably.

I'm not sure what to make of parachute girl. Hope wants it to be someone sent from Penny, but an Other parachuting in is just as likely. Especially since the sub was destroyed as well as their communications tower(not to mention the Swan implosion). Seems more likely actually, that someone would be checking in on the operation since things are starting to go south for them and they no longer 'appear' to have communication with to the outside world.

Who said McPatchy was dead? Maybe the others faked that too. Hell, if they can make Claire sick by remote and fake a plane crash, maybe they can make blood spurt out of his ears. I bet we find that that "fence" is only there to keep smokey out, not people.

"Leaving the island" means escaping purgatory, so you would go to heaven (or whereever).

Yea, yea, I remember reading that article in EW where they debunked a bunch of the theories. If I had to pick one, it's my choice for a far out theory. The producers have lied to us before, so I wouldn't put it past them to do it again. Still, I think there is probably an easier explanation for "Nessa's" line about them being dead and I would be it's because she's lying.

I don't see why the others would need to create a "fake report/crash" to keep people from coming to their island. You couldn't find the island until the hatch imploded (remember the scene in that monitoring station at the end of last season). So why the need to keep people away?

I think it is entirely possible that Patchy didn't die as we originally thought. I don't remember the exact details of his death, but I seem to recall that he had blood coming out of his ears. That might have just been some eardrum damage from the sonic fence. Did they actually check his pulse? I don't remember.

Did it seem like he was hard of hearing in episode? He didn't seem to respond to Jin coming after him yelling about the phone.

I'm just trying to say, I don't think he is a clone/twin or Smokey in disguise. Or the Island brought him back to life, etc.

I thought McPatchy was still alive, only for the sole reason that they did not check his pulse and Locke didn't break his neck or something...I was shouting during that episode weeks ago to "make sure that motherfucker is dead", which of course, they didn't do.

I thought they said a few weeks back that the reason the pregnant women died is because in essence, the island IS TRYING to heal them and that it thinks the BABY IS A DISEASE. So it turns the body against itself to get 'rid' of the baby/disease and that's why the pregnant women die...but it's a process that BEGINS AT CONCEPTION, which is why if you conceive off the island like Claire, you can be fine with medication - but if you're like Sun, the wheels have already been set in motion.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was purgatory. Every single backstory of the characters show that they are not really "good" people.
