Its unfortunate that you know before watching it, but I think it would still be very worthwhile to check it out. There is a lot more than the info you have and just the unconventional nature of series is great even 15 years later. However, its definitely a series that isn't for everyone. If you like David Lynch's films, I wouldn't hesitate to say its worth your time.

It gets shaggy-doggish by the end of the series but through the first year is terrific. After that, too many subplots and loose ends derail the momentum until it's much less entertaining.

Can someone please point me in the direction of a good recap for season 1 (video or text, either will work). Its been nearly 5 years since I've watched season 1, and I started season 2 today, realizing that I don't remember almost anything that is going on, except the larger arcs. Thanks!

No DTS for one which is a big deal in my book!

I would say it's worth watching, especially the 1st season. Every time I watch it, I'm completely engrossed in the world of Twin Peaks. The same can be said for the first part of the 2nd season as well. Unfortunately, I found a lot of the stuff after the killer's revelation to be kind of lackluster. If the rumors were correct then

Wait until you can see the pilot episode in decent quality (I've heard the Mexican disc is OK, but I only have the HK-Republic one ... which is not)...
Then, watch the pilot episode thru episode 16 (about midway thru season tow). Then watch the film "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me". Then, if you're up for some non-Laura Palmer stuff, watch the remaining episodes from season 2.

Yeah, don't watch Fire Walk With Me until you've seen the entire series. While it mostly focuses on Laura Palmer, the prequel also has references to post-Laura Palmer things like the Black Lodge, Annie Blackburn (there's a scene with Annie that spoils what happens in the final episode), etc.
