Just read the same thing on CNN. I am glad that we got as many shows as we did.

Awww, that sucks . I'm glad that we got some extra shows. It would have been nice to see a real series finale.

The finale isn't a cliffhanger is it? I remember reading that Rob Thomas said he wasn't going out without a fight and planned to end the season "as dramatically as the previous two"...

Edit: Oh, just saw this was already posted in the other CW thread. Kind of redundant now.

Rob Thomas on the possibility of anything further:
"No one has talked to me about a new, non-Veronica project. All my writers have been offered jobs elsewhere, and I believe they will now all accept these jobs. Very, very, very sad day around the VM offices.

"I assume that anything Dawn would be talking about in the realm of a Rob-Kristen project would involve a new from-scratch pilot as they don't have me in a deal, and they'll lose Kristen in a couple of weeks."

While it is disappointing, it easily could have been canceled after one year. The network gave it two more years, had reruns on CBS, and had ads/commercials all over the place (at least here). It had lots of chances, and I'm grateful for what we did get.

Well, I will be buying S3 on DVD to support the show. Can't wait to watch them.

Yeah, I'm sure the cult will only grow after it's of the air.

I probably won't be buying S3 anytime soon, but I'll enjoy Seasons 1 & 2

I hope they have the FBI pilot on the DVD, that would be a great extra.

I'm with many of those from the week to week threads who thought this show had a serious decline from season 1 to season 2 and season 3 was even worse...well, maybe it's a tie.

I don't know if Rob Thomas couldn't keep up the quality, had some ideas to bring in fans that just didn't pan out (and probably wouldn't have, so he probably shouldn't have messed what worked so well in season 1), or if the CW got too involved with notes and ideas.

I think even with the decline in quality, it's a sad reminder of what the general public chooses to watch because this show was better than most of what else is on and I wish I wasn't around for this time in television history where Friday Night Bingo and the like, cheaply made, and watched by at least 10 times as many people who'd tune into a VM episode is going on.

I'm also not as ok with the decision. I think this Dawn chick will have another really bad year and she won't last long in her position. I didn't like reading how she spoke very little about GG and if she was as big of a fan of the show as she claimed, why not give the FBI show a shot?

The show as it was, was really losing steam. I could barely get through last week's episode. But I still thought Veronica had a lot of appeal and her character still had a chance in another format. KB is also an appealing actress, not just in her looks but she has the extra appeal that makes her really likeable. Give it 13 episodes if only because these FBI/cop shows that are more easily understandable by the larger public who can't follow anything original would have been an easier sell, I think.

I know that if you didn't make money on the show for 3 years, that they do have to look at their bottom line BUT every network has an example or two of shows that have cult following and are media darlings. After GG, does the CW have even 1? It seemed like the critics liked VM even more than I did. I think that merited one last chance...only because of the new format of the show.

I mentioned before that I won't be watching the CW at all now. No boycott, just nothing there for me to watch. I also think there were just enough people like me, who would have definately tuned in for the FBI thing to support the show and see if it could finally make it, that we also would have probably see promos for their new shows or found ourselves clicking over and possibly getting attracted to something else coming up next season. It's to a point now where I won't even know what's on the CW and I won't ever even be clicking onto that channel.

This show definitely has "network notes" written all over it (from Season 2 + 3). And I too noticed a drop from 1-2 and then from 2-3. But I still really enjoyed the show. The writing was always fun and snappy and it was a great way to spend Tuesday nights.

I'm not going to run out to buy Season 3 (unless they put out an HD DVD set -- then it's mine on release day). But I did enjoy it a lot and I'm sad to see it go. The FBI idea (maybe with just V and her dad) sounded like a great idea to me.

I watched all of Season 1 and Season 2, but skipped out on Season 3. But I probably would have checked out the FBI show, since I did like KB and the Veronica character, and it would have been interesting to see her slightly older and in a more professional environment. Too bad...

I do have to agree with Dolphinboy. You could tell things had changed from season 1 to 2 and even more so with season 3, which I thought was more miss than hit. You could tell CW was trying to get a wider audience in there and watering it down a bit like they did Alias.

Sad news!

Sure, season 1 to 2 was a drop, but hell any thing would have probably been a drop as season 1 was just sooo good. Even with this season, its still better than most stuff on TV.

Anyways, its been 3 great years and Ill miss VM...

It was a good 3 years at UPN/CW and this show wouldn't have lasted in any of the other networks for this long.

However, I wished the CW would have told them ahead of time that they were cancelling the show instead of the will they/won't they bullshit so they could have come up with a proper series finale.

I honestly give CW alot of credit for sticking with the show throughout the season. Most networks would've ran re-runs of America's Next Top Model or something with those ratings.

Loved Season 1. That's about it. I've still been tuning in, but whatever the cause, it's painfully obvious this show's been on a sharp and steady decline ever since and is a shell of its former self. Time to move on.

I'd be really upset if the show had maintained the same quality as Season 1.

I'd be mildly upset if the show had maintained the same quality as Season 2.

At this point, I'd rather have a season 4 than no season 4, but it's really not bothering me all that much.

Yeah, season 1 to 2 had to have a drop, because the main element that crafted season 1 was actually resolved for once.

There goes CW Tuesdays.
