no way can melissa joan hart top kbell

Brent_MN 03-19-07 06:07 PM

not even close. what movies has melissa joan hart been in? drive me crazy? not another teen movie? anything since?

at least KB seems to have a more promising career ahead of her. :)

When can we expect some real news on this issue?

Will we have to wait until the announce the fall schedule or with all these shows winding up, should the word get out one way or another relatively soon?

I tend to agree that seasons 2 and 3 weren't as strong as season 1, but I still look forward to the show each week. So taking into account the fact that the show has been uneven for 2 seasons, still, nonetheless is high quality, but has not found an audience, and doesn't seem to have found a real, cohesive groove since season 1, I'd really like to see it get one more chance with Kristen in FBI training.

It's bound to fail, simply because it's on the CW and nothing that's high quality finds an audience there, but it would give the show a chance to get back to the quality of season one and I'd like to see that happen, even if it's just 1 more season at that level.

And I agree that KB should find a good home in movies. I first saw her in a movie with Val Kilmer. She stood out in that, was very hot, and I was incredibly excited when, just after seeing it and wondering if I'd see more of her, VM came around.

wmansir 03-19-07 08:03 PM

The update, linked on page 2, has a CW rep saying "The show has not been canceled. A decision will be made at the Upfront on May 17." Which is absurd. They aren't going to make the decision until the day they announce their fall schedule?

Evidently the move that sparked the cancellation talk was when the cast and crew got word that Kristen Bell alone had shot a 'trailer' for the new FBI format.

I can't blame the CW for passing on next season. Business-wise this season was a gift and it felt largely squandered. If it were up to me I would rather have Supernatural come back, even though it stars 2 dudes instead of a hottie.

dolphinboy 03-19-07 08:29 PM

I guess what I meant was would word likely get out before that date in May?

Isn't Hollywood a tough place to keep a secret?

I do agree that the best word to describe season 3 is squandered. If the go ahead and cancel the show, I won't buy season 3 on dvd, I'll sell season 2 on ebay, and just keep season 1 as a stand alone mystery and try to just block out of my mind that there were 2 more seasons of the show.

Patman 03-19-07 09:41 PM

Word will get out as to the rest of the cast showing up in other pilots being shot for consideration for the fall 2007 schedule when they get released if VM goes in another direction or doesn't get picked up.

Brent_MN 03-19-07 10:03 PM

Patman wins.

I totally dig the idea of Veronica being an FBI agent. So hot. I hope Keith sticks around tho. And bring back Harry Hamlin!

that be a little hard
Spoiler:
since he's dead, unless of course you mean by flashbacks and what not

I cannot condone losing Logan, if only because that greatly lessens the possibility of more appearances by Trina.

And I miss Trina.

I was like WTF ?????

Obviously someone who has never watched the show. I mean just because it has a female star it is for 15 year old girls? It certainly ain't "Sweet Valley High" or even "Nancy Drew" for that matter. A prime example of how underestimated this show is by the general viewing audience. I read an article by Stephen King which praised this series to the high heavens in Entertainment Weekly mid-season 2 where he basically pleaded that the show get watched and not cancelled. That inspired me to rent S1, and I was hooked! I would easily embrace a flash forward but am willing to accept anything plotwise Mr. Thomas dishes out with this series! :D

From Ask Ausiello:

Question: There are crazy rumors going around that everyone in the Veronica Mars cast has been released from their contracts with the exception of Kristen Bell. Is there any truth to this?— Mari
Ausiello: Not a kernel. As I reported on Monday, no one has been released from his/her contract. And just to reiterate, there are three scenarios currently at play where VM is concerned:

1) Veronica Mars will be canceled (45 percent likelihood).
2) Veronica Mars will be renewed as is, with V still in college (10 percent likelihood).
3) Veronica Mars will be renewed with V in the FBI (45 percent likelihood).

dgmayor 04-19-07 09:18 AM

I've watched Season 1 now, and just started season 2, and have to say I'm hooked. I hate all of you for convincing me to watch a show that might end up canceled, but hey, it wouldn't be the first time. It's a tad on the "teen soap opera" side for me at times, but Kristen Bell/the Veronica character is just amazing.

Brent_MN 04-19-07 11:26 AM

teen soaps rule. I hope when I'm 50 I will still want to sit down and watch my old "The O.C." DVDs.

:(

The end of the road might be coming for another series that was looking for a new beginning, CW's "Veronica Mars." Sources indicated that the cult show, whose trailer for a fourth season set a couple of years into the feature had been warmly received by CW brass, is now back on the verge of cancellation.

Why must the keep fucking with me?? End it or re-up it, but make up your minds... CW raped my childhood

Draven 05-12-07 01:59 AM

I keep hoping they will bring it back - it's their only show with any critical buzz at all. If they dump it, they've pretty much got "Smallville" and crappy "reality" shows keeping the network afloat.

starseed1981 05-12-07 08:22 PM

I'd love to see it back but I honestly think the determining factor is gonna be money. If you can produce another show cheaper and get the same ratings, and thus same advertising dollars, it's a good business decision to cancel the show. Of course I'll cry like a little girl, but it's still a good decision.

See thats the thing... it honestly doesn't make any business sense for the show to come back for another year. The network has tried (much, much harder than The WB would have) to keep the show afloat, but in all honestly its the lowest rated drama on the network, and ratings have gone down instead of up over the course of the year.

Ronnie Dobbs 05-17-07 12:25 PM

I really enjoyed this show too. That sucks.

The Ausiello CW liveblog has some stuff where he asks Dawn Ostroff what's up, and she basically says that she has Rob Thomas and Kristen working on a project, but won't confirm it is Mars related, but won't deny that it is a spinoff of sorts either.

I'm guessing that they want to try out the FBI formula, but are trying to find a way that sufficiently distances it from the Veronica Mars formula/assumptions as we now know them, so that new advertisers and completely new viewers would be interested.

I'm not holding my breath waiting for it to happen, though.

otmetrud 05-17-07 12:52 PM

It's official. It's cancelled.
