Reefer Madness The Musical .... I think.

(if you haven't seen the remake of "Reefer Madness", you're missing one of her best performances)

Haha, must have missed your post, should of just quoted that.

Kristen Bell has it. I would watch her on The Farming Network.

Agreed. Kristen is great, her father on the show is great, the dialogue is still snappy with quick witted writing, but the story lines are no where as good as the first season. Retransplanting the character in a different time/setting is certainly worth trying. If not, Kristen is freed up for the next great role.

I don't feel that way, with the exception of ANTM, Wrestling on Friday, and Monday Night's Urban Comedies everything else is mostly carried over from the wb.

Bought it the day it came out myself. I love that movie.

The more I think about it, the more I like the transplant idea. The weakest part of the show has always been Veronica's relationships, so if they ditch Logan and start over fresh, I'd be into it.

I've never enjoyed when the female lead ends up with the "troubled" guy - see Buffy, Gilmore Girls and VM for this scenario. Especially when there is a nice guy in their life, which is often the case in these shows. I suppose it makes for less drama but I've known plenty of people (myself included) that dated the same person for 4+ years and, aside from the typical relationship troubles, had perfectly healthy relationships. I've never understood why writers shy away from keeping this one aspect of life relatively normal.

The idea of jumping ahead sounds great to me too, especially if it gets rid of the lame ass Logan/Veronica love story. But if the show carries the same name, I wonder if people would give it a try.

If this is it, I'm sad to see it go, but not surprised at all. No ire aimed at the CW, like others have said the show just couldn't find an audience. The current environment is a rough one from dramatic television. And V.Mars had the deck stacked against it starting on UPN in the first place. Three seasons, 70 eps? Not too bad.

Healthy boring relationships don't make for interesting drama.

In TV guide online they say they are for the jump ahead too and hope that Logans Maturity level jumps ahead too.

Chauzer 03-16-07 12:30 PM

dammit!! :(

boredsilly 03-16-07 12:31 PM

No no, emo Logan needs to go!

Tracer, healthy relationships can work. See Friday Night Lights. The marriage on that show between Coach and Coach Wife feels genuine and it's still entertaining.

starseed1981 03-16-07 12:44 PM

I'm sad, but this was expected. Hopefully Kristen has a better post show carrier that Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Hrmmm....

DJariya 03-16-07 01:42 PM

That's too bad that VM is probably getting the axe. It doesn't help that the show is one of The CW's lowest rated shows and probably costs a lot to shoot it on location in San Diego. I wonder why they couldn't have shot this in LA considering the show's location is already fictional.

Seantn 03-16-07 01:50 PM

The thread title should be changed. This isn't official, and it was only reported by somebody at E-Online, who later retracted her statement and said it might be getting retooled.

critterdvd 03-16-07 02:03 PM

Now that I've slept on it, the idea of Veronica at the FBI could be very very interesting, although it seems like a really desperate move. But it could be interesting to see Veronica at 24 doing what she does best, and I think it would be really cool if they kept Mac and she was some kinda tech person there, or just Veronica's roomate. It could be like a realistic Alias/Silence of the lambs thing...

Although I think its funny that the networks two fledging series "One Tree Hill" and "Veronica Mars" are both going to be doing time-warps if they come back for next season.

Jeremy517 03-16-07 02:13 PM

If this was any other year, I'd say it was gone for sure. But with the CW losing so many shows, some of the poorly-rated shows are going to keep going, so we've got a chance.

dgmayor 03-16-07 03:39 PM

Never watched an episode of this, but seeing all the love this has received here over the last three years, I'd definitely check it out if it got retooled.

If you can, check out the DVD sets for the first two seasons. You won't be disappointed.

gimmepilotwings 03-16-07 03:45 PM

I have seen S1 and S2 for under $20 each. I know that VM: S1 is available from the TV club from Columbia House too. I know that I am part of the "problem" with shows like VM. I don't watch live TV. I wait until they come out until DVD.

I wonder if they consider DVD watchers in their equations.

jmanlakerfan 03-16-07 04:09 PM

I actually like the idea. Hopefully, this works.

They are probably going to try and make the show darker. Make it more 'adult.'

I hope that doesn't take out the cleverness of the show.
