Well, the news was expected but still stings.
I think we should all send Mars candy bars to the CW out of protest

New update from Kristin at E:

Looks like its not outright cancelled, but could be. They are thinking of doing a new format that jumps 4 years into the future with VMars as an FBI agent. Probably new cast (but they better bring back Keith).

TV is a competitive buisness. They can't afford a show if no one advertises on it cause the ratings are too low.

This does suck but what else does CW have to put on in place of it??
Reminds me of what the WB did to Angel a few years back. They had the Lost in Space remake and the Dark Shadows show and neither came to fruition.

No matter what anybody has to say about "Veronica Mars" and its inability to find a big audience,
no one can deny (at least no one who has watched an episode of VM) that Kristen Bell is a star.
She'll be a on a new show --on a real network, real quick.

It's not "Good-bye", it's "Au revoir".

that could work. I think what hurts the show ratings wise is the arcs are too confusing for casual viewers. And advertisements on other shows wouldn't hurt either (all the times i've watched one tree hill and smackdown, i have never seen one vm ad for the next episode.

Interesting. That's reportedly what they're gonna do with One Tree Hill if that gets a 5th season on the CW. Flash forward 5 years into the future.

I wonder if they'll decide to that with Smallville eventually.

I'd really like to see it continue, but I feel lucky to already have 3 seasons out of it with the ratings it gets.

That is pretty much my thought on it as well. UPN/CW really did all they could to promote it, but it never caught on.

I wonder if it being set in high school hurt its chances. It was a show that seemed at first glance to be targeted specifically to a young audience yet was appealing to a much broader audience once you get past the surface.

Just the opposite for me. I have been watching but not enjoying vmars. The first season was IMO the only good season. A new format might be what is needed.

Kristen Bell has it. I would watch her on The Farming Network.

I'd be interested in the jump ahead too. I enjoyed the first two seasons, this one has been pretty disappointing.

Add me to the "cancel Supernatural too and I'm done with the network" list.

Sheesh, the fate of this show has more twists and turns then the last mystery arc with the Dean's murder...

If they can't save the current format, and let's face it, she's got nothing more to learn in college.

I like the idea of fast forwarding into the future as an FBI Silence of the Lambs Jodi Foster type.

Bring it on, that would be a terrific show!

I don't think that fast forwarding the show 4 years and making her an FBI agent is a good idea but if at least it makes the CW renew the show for a fourth season, I'm all for it. It can't be worse than the current season so far, can it?

I dont think the "jump ahead" is a bad idea, but I like the show as it is... Im sad, but Im glad I got 3 good years out of the show. Most shows now a days run for 7+ years and you dont get that. I think the thing that I will be most mad about if it is finally gone is no proper series finale.

True dat. Unless she tries to make a go of it in movies. Pulse didn't really help her cause though.

The FBI thing sounds intriguing. It would certainly open things up more than just crimes happening in her dorm. Then again, at this point I would watch anything with KB in it.

Sorry for your loss. Perhaps I'll watch once everything is on dvd.

Anybody else feel like the CW is actually just UPN and WB has gone away entirely?

I don't think anything is left besides Smallville - not counting 7th cause WB decided to kill that.

Supernatural was a WB debut last season.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Veronica Mars might be looking at a quick graduation from Hearst College.

The fate of the CW's cult favorite remains uncertain, but if the show returns for a fourth season in the fall, it might find the young sleuth in a different setting.

"Veronica Mars" creator Rob Thomas has come up with an idea to fast-forward a couple of years and have Mars studying at the FBI Academy. (As a freshman at Hearst College, Kristen Bell's title character has been taking criminology classes looking to do an internship at the FBI.)

Thomas is filming a trailer for an alternative fourth season, which will be submitted to the CW. The network's executives ultimately will decide whether to pick up the series for another season and, if they do, whether to stick to the drama's current plot line or go with the new version. If Mars goes to the FBI Academy next season, it will be a third backdrop for the character, who began her P.I. adventures while in high school.

Dammit, though not surprising. I've enjoyed VM since episode 1, and even at it's low points the characters were so great that I never wavered in my support of the show.

Though, to be honest, I could live with a show focused on Veronica and Keith (with Mac and Wallace thrown in for good measure) so the "time jump" thing might work if handled properly.

I loved season 1, watched and tolerated season 2, and ditched the show after I watched the season 3 pilot online.

I love Kristen Bell (if you haven't seen the remake of "Reefer Madness", you're missing one of her best performances) and will watch whatever else she ends up doing, but this show needed to be put down.

I like the idea of flash forwarding 4 years and seeing her as a FBI agent and think I'd like that much more than her being in a college setting again....a more "grown up" looking show may draw in more viewers. That would give them a good excuse to dump Wallace and Logan off the show and fill their slots with better characters. They gotta bring Mac with them though...she can be the FBI tech guru fighting the good fight with Veronica! Need to fit Keith in there somehow too.

Even if VM gets canned, I don't think Kristen Bell would be out of work long....she's far too talented/beautiful to not be on a show.
