Not a good night for the guys. Best was Blake. Even without the beatboxing, his vocals were best.

Sanjaya, Sundance the Blue Meanie, Brandon, Rudy were all terrible.

The others were just okay.

This is definitely the WEIRDEST looking group.

according to dialidol so far:

Spoiler:

people arent voting pedro, and kim wont have to look for shoes... Rudy and AJ look to be 2 more on the fence.. i assume the 2 eliminated will come from these 4

I think that Rudy and Paul go. But no one really stood out.

I like how Phil turned it around. The question is how many songs his wife really likes, since I bet he really only gets up when he's singing to her.

Hell yeah. You think Chris is going to make the giant baby head in the sun giggle with some lame David Hasslehoff joke?? I don't think so. Thats the job for some multi colored television belly mutants.

After watching the show... no. I doubt that he makes it to the final 16 (he'll survive this week).

I was impressed with Phil Stacey, I gave him ten votes. And Jason "Sundance" Head (who has since dropped the name "Jason") was soooo promising during auditions. I gave him ten sympathy votes but if he doesn't turn it around by next week he won't survive long.

Dialidol predictions so far...

Spoiler:
Top Three: Chris Richardson, Sundance Head, and Phil Stacey

Bottom two: Paul Kim and Nicholas Pedro, though it really could be anybody - it's very close

Phil reminds me of Clay Aiken, but with a deeper tone to his vocals.

Can't believe Chris Sligh played the Teletubbies card on Simon. Bold.

Wasn't really impressed by any of the guys tonight.

I would have died if Nick have worn a "Vote for Pedro" t-shirt underneath shirt (and could see the "Vote for Pedro" portion).

Spoiler:
According to DialIdol, he's far and away the audience favorite.

The girls aren't much better.

In the past 2 years we've has Carrie & Katharine to look at

Are there any lookers this year?!? None on the same level as C&K. Not even close.

Spoiler:
They are having people vote for Sundance Head, which is pretty lame.

"Hey, let's pick the favorite and tell everybody to vote for him so that when he keeps going on we can say that it's because of us."
Reply
i think its pretty mean that they made that ugly little girl Sanjaya sing with the guys tonight.
Reply
Sanjaya did have the worst song choice ever for a final 24 contestant.
Reply
Very very weak. Only 3 seemed decent: that back-up singer guy, Chris, and Blake (who shocked me, being the best of the night). No one seems good enough to take the whole thing. A lot of mediocre boy-band sounding lameness. Sundance was awful - how could that song seem like a good idea?

Sanjaya - man, he'll probably get teenybopper pity votes, but that was pathetic. Notice how he said his sister gave him that song? Remember when she seemed to give him glares in the Audition round when it sounded like the judges liked him more? That would've been some evil payback Nah ... couldn't be. Not even the "God likes good people" girl would be that mean.

Pretty lousy group of performances, I thought. The only ones who stood out to me at all were Blake the beatbox guy, Phil (even though he started out horribly), Chris Sligh, and maybe Chris Richardson. Rochardson's vocals weren't that great, but his performance was among the best, I thought.

Sundance was lousy, but people will like him a lot, so no way he goes home yet. Sanjaya was pretty bad too, and his song choice was ass, but he won't be going either. People will have sympathy on him because of his age and inexperience. Paul Kim wasn't totally horrible, but I don't think many viewers are going to latch onto him. Rudy was bad, picked a shit song, and had the misfortune of going first, which will cause people to remember the performance more, and he is kinda ugly, and not in an endearing way like Chris Sligh or Sundance.

The rest were just unforgettable to me. Not bad enough to get the boot yet, but not good enough to be memorable. I will say I was surprised a little bit by AJ. He was better than I thought he would be, but he still has a good chance of being in the bottom 3. I think either Paul Kim or Rudy Cardenas are going home.

Well now that the tedious and overlong audition process is over, we can finally get on to the meat of the show. I swear American Idol is almost like two different shows, because tonight other than a few faces I mostly felt "Who the hell are these people?"

Nick - How did this guy make the top 24? He reminded me of Jai from Queer Eye, only less talented and not as good-looking.

Brandon - I thought he was good.

Sundance - This guy was horrid. Who did his hair, Marcel?

Paul Kim - Bare feet have got no rhythm

Chris Richardson - The hell? Why was everyone going crazy for him? Not sure how this guy made it this far, much less all the praise he got from the tone-deaf judges. He was rocking the Justin Timberlake/Michael Scofield look, but I don't get it.

Nick Pedro - blah

Blake Lewis - Wow, this guy was really great. I had no idea he could sing. He blew me away. I almost forgot how much he looks like Mike Boogie.

Sunjaya - Disappointing, since I liked him during the auditions.

Chris Sligh - I really like him, although I am scared now to see how he will face the wrath of Simon. I don't even think he was being a dick about it, but damn Simon was pissed. I know people think he looks like Jack Osbourne, but everytime I look at him I think "Sorry your mom blew up, Ricky".

Jared Cotter - Ok. Cute, not bad.

A.J. - I actually really enjoyed his performace.

Phil - I thought he sucked and I did not understand why everyone was going crazy for him. Seemed like a Daughtry wanna-be, which is pretty sad when you are derivative of someone already derivative.
Reply
I still think Phil is more Aiken than Daughtry.

Is it wrong for me to be more interested in what Sligh says to Simon next, instead of how he sounds on his next song?
Reply
Blake rules!!! An American Morrissey...similar voice tonight...we'll see. That was great song choice and well done.
Reply
I would have to say that I believe Sanjay and Sundance/Nick Pedro will be leaving...those three performances were the only ones where I changed the channel

But based on those predictions..

Spoiler:
It looks like People are still sticking with the 17 yo, even though he might have been one of the worst out there. Remember how far JPL/John Stevens lasted in season 3

Someone that knows a clue need sto pick sanjaya's next song

NOT his sister.

Those were some very mediocre performances. I am not sure who to root for as they all weren't that great. I use to hate the theme nights but I think it would definitely help to narrow down some of these choices as many songs they choose were bland. I agree with Simon, most everything tonight was forgettable. Ryan fighting with Simon was so pathetic and childish. The best part of the show was when Ryan took off his shoes and lost like 3 inches standing next to Paul.
Reply
Yeah, I am about fed up with Ryan and Simon's little panty war. I noticed Seacrest getting increasingly catty with Simon as last season progressed, and I am already sick of it after tonight. I guess Ryan must think it is his little "niche", but Simon isn't any different than he was in the very first episode of the show. I agree with what Simon said about him not going out of his way to be rude, but he is just being brutally honest. Even if his bluntness is what he is most known for, you can't really say he is playing it up too much, because he was the same way when the show began and had no popularity at all. The whole schtick of Seacrest and Paula getting agitated by even the slightest negative comment Simon makes and kissing the contestant's asses is just so fucking tired.

They are my picks to go as well. Paul was unbelievably horrid.

This year's men are so BORING for me because there is no rocker. I was ready to drop the show for the year, but I think I'll watch to see how Blake does. He sounded good, and I like his casual confidence.

I wasn't impressed with the performances last night. I was rooting for Paul Kim because he was Korean but his performance was pretty bad and cheesy so I won't feel bad if he is voted off tomorrow.

He needs to go because I sure as hell don't want to put up with 13 weeks of bad shoeless jokes.

God, that was fucking awful.

The only standouts were thoroughly mediocre. I wonder if they'll start losing viewers before the season is over. The talent pool is shit this year, and I don't think any of them can pick songs to save their asses.

The only thing that I thought was even interesting was when Chris called Simon out on "Il Divo." The Teletubbies are one thing, but have any of you fucking heard Il Divo? They're like the aural equivalent of a hard turd and hot diarrhea sundae topped with a bloody tampon.
