Also, I don't think Botando can be both clever enough to put together this most subtle of setups and yet leave his prints all over the keyboard.

I wish I had all the episodes because I seem to recall Botando did miss his kid (see I'm not even sure if it's 1 or 2 kids) earlier this season.

My first thought was that Mindy O'Dell framed Botondo. The pure incompetance of the sheriff's office didn't find any of the evidence that Mindy planted. She hired Keith so that he could find the evidence that she made - point to Botondo.

Now with the gloves and shirt found and him dying. I don't know anymore.

I still think Tim the TA is the killer. He has knowledge of criminal investigation procedures and would have had access to Veronica's paper. He also may have some sort of grudge against Landry (he did manipulate Veronica into discovering the affair...). Maybe he had access to the monogramed shirt (or he could have had one made).

I think things sort of start to add up, but who knows they may throw us a curveball.

Look at the motives.

Mindy O'Dell - Big insurance pay-off

Hank Landry - He was already getting the goods with the dean in the picture. Why would he want to take the risk of killing him when there was no direct benefit? Unless Mindy convinced him to.

Steve Botando - Revenge, possibly framing Mindy in order to get his kids back. Unlikely, since he's dead now.

Tim Foyle (the TA) - None that makes sense. If he's jealous of Veronica over Dr. Landry's interest, he would have gone after Veronica. Murdering Landry because he passed him over for the FBI internship program is stretching it. However, we know he's interested in the case and is trying to solve it (perhaps to prove Landry wrong about his support for Veronica over him), so it's possible he put the bug in Landry's phone.

Tim definitely put the bug in Landry's cell phone. My money is on Tim being the killer.

Well, correct, in the Veronica Mars universe. In that case, the sorority sister is just as likely.

Patman 02-21-07 05:16 PM

It's probably the TA's girlfriend.

asianflow 02-21-07 05:26 PM

Tim the TA doesn't have a motive for killing the Dean.

If he was pissed off Landry chose Veronica over him for the FBI internship, than he could have killed Landry himself.

We also know Tim was at the same party Veronica was at during the Dean's murder. I'm not sure how long he stayed though because he came in to yell at his GF.

Don't forget by the Dean's reaction before he was shot, he clearly knew who the killer was. Tim and O'Dell never had a scene together.

Patman 02-21-07 05:44 PM

See, the TA's GF has a motive to pin the blame on Tim. :D

Or... it could be Dick.

Good riddance Lamb. He was really getting old.

Someone tells me that means Brain Damage.

Yes, most likely got hit in the area of the brain that controls sense memories, knocking them out of whack (literally), which would be why he suddenly smelled bread.

Personally, I'm not all that sad to see him go. He was getting a bit played out, and I found it hard to believe he was even able to keep his job being so clueless. In the end, it was his own ineptitude that got him killed. They pretty much even spelled that out by him shooting the reflection of himself in the mirror - just a complete lack of competence for the job.

Funny before last night's episode we were saying that Lamb was just so one note and it was getting tiresome that after all this time that he never believed Keith or Veronica.
I mean, come on.
They should bring back the Deputy from the first season (name slips my mind). The one that dated Veronica. He could be Keith's assistant.

movieking 02-22-07 06:18 AM

I don't mind the death of a recurring character, but this seemed to serve no purpose other than to have a shock in the episode. Poorly done death, IMO.

SteveBlair 02-22-07 08:33 AM

The purpose may have been to get Keith back as Sherrif..

Really? To me he seems like a relatively possesive psychotic - aside from wanting to marry his pregnant girlfriend knowing the kid probably wasn't his.

More reasonable is his moral compass. Landry having an affair with a married woman is wrong. Punish Landry by killing O'Dell and framing Landry. That makes more sense than Landry hiding that stuff in the furnace - which makes NO sense.

(This is my first "guess who" for Veronica Mars since I am just watching this season live. Totally fun!)

Deputy Leo! One of my favorites. Alas, you must have forgotten that he was dismissed from his law enforcement duties after he stole evidence at the behest of Logan last season. (Last we saw him he was working private security.)

That would be Leo.

Here's what my husband and I sort of thought about the Dean's murder...

A couple of episodes back, they showed Mindy O'Dell's son in his bedroom, quiet and withdrawn. Could the son possibly be tired of his parents fighting all of the time (Mindy and Botando), and hated his step dad? He could have gone to the hotel, taken the car and returned it in the alloted time. Just a thought :-)

As for this last episode, this one scene has been driving me absolutely crazy:

When Wallace and Lamb meet up and Lamb asks him if he ever went to see the Wizard, and Wallace comes back with something along the lines of "Yeah, the wizard told me to tell you that you're Dorothy's only friend." What did he mean by that? I'm sure it's a LOT easier to figure out than what I am making it out to be. Thanks so much in advance! :-)

movieking 02-22-07 12:11 PM

Wallace said Lamb was a "friend of Dorothy". It's a reference to being gay.

Ayre 02-22-07 12:13 PM

Just guessing ...

Brainless
Heartless
Coward

Tim didn't know Landry was having an affair with Mindy O'Dell at the time of the murder.

What is supposed to allow one to be able to conclude this?

movieking is correct. Wallace was implying that Lamb was gay with that statement.

I guess you could argue there isn't proof either way Tim knew or didn't know about Mindy's affair.

But I feel like it would be a cop out if Tim all of a sudden said he knew Mindy was having an affair without the viewer seeing it. Rob Thomas is much smarter than this.

I mean, come on.

It wasn't that he didn't believe him, he just hated taking tips from someone who wants/wanted his job. He still ended up listening and acting on the tips if necessary though. Look how fast he acted on Mrs. O'Dell.

I'm sad to see him go. Keith and Veronica need an antagonist and he was perfect. When they showed him sneaking up the stairs by himself, I knew something was up. RIP Lamb.

The same actor recently seen playing a young Sandy Cohen (in a flashback) on an episode of The O.C.. Took me a few minutes to remember what else I'd seen him in before, and then it acme to me he was Deputy Leo.
