I watched the first couple episodes and found it immensely boring. Just like most Showtime programming, it starts out with a good concept but can't quite execute. Always feels like if they just had a couple extra folks helping out, it could reach that quality tier.

Any love for 'The Tudors'?

Haven't seen this mentioned at all, anybody watching?

I haven't watched the 3rd episode yet, but I thought the first two were pretty solid.

Not really. This was a big flop for Showtime. I will give them props for one thing, though. A couple of weeks ago, they had some really hot girls dressed in period clothes on the sidewalk near Union Square in NYC, shouting at people to watch the show. Improved my afternoon slightly.

I saw the first episode and all I thought was that I've seen this before, and done much better.

I thought the 2nd episode was an improvement over the first, if that's helpful.

How is it a flop? I read in Variety that it got the biggest numbers for a Showtime series ever.

You should try picking up a chick at excalibur, there is nothing better than a chick in period clothes with a horrible imitation accent.

While I think the show is not as good as HBO's efforts (Rome, etc), I am enjoying it, and I do enjoy Rhys-Myers. I think he's a terrific actor...and I can't get enough of Natalie Dormer in period dress. She's not the hottest girl around, but damn if she doesn't ooze sexiness.

The main problem, and I've watched the first 4 episodes (they're up on On Demand a week early), is that they're trying to cover too much time in one episode. That and, no matter how much I like Rhys-Myers, watching him play one of the ugliest kings in the history of England gives me a good laugh. Hell, I, myself, am a supermodel compared to Henry VIII...

Although it all went to hell in his later years, young Henry was very handsome and quite the catch in royal circles.

The production value is great but, it's kinda hard to like a show when all the characters are so unlikable.

I enjoy the show as does the wife which is a huge surprise (she likes all the sex in it). I agree that the girl playing Anne Boleyn is hot in a non-conventional way and if they have more scenes of her like last week, it will keep me watching.

Re: Anyone else looking forward to The Tudors on Showtime? (merged)

Bumped for anyone still watching this.

We're about at the midpoint of the final season right now and the show is still just as brutal as its always been with regard to killing main characters. Obviously they're still trying to mirror history but they're really rushing through Henry's final wives at breakneck speed. I love how JRM never seems to age but his children are suddenly so old.

That said, the performances are still pretty topnotch and the show is still quite enjoyable for what it is.
