Given the fall in the ratings to 5.4/9 on the second night, I think I can name the soon to be former game show host on the stage.

Yep, that's the one. Thanks. Although What's My Line had a similar premise. Identity isn't very original it seems though I haven't watched it.

I like when the old lady almost picked the black dude as a New Kid on the Block!

So when are they going to realize that people might want game shows that require some sort of skill or specialized knowledge or that possess some sort of GAME component?

If they insist on airing these crappy non-game shows, they should just do a prime-time revival of Match Game. It needs to happen.

I tried watching this last night, but couldn't...it's just too damn annoying when they ask the people "Is that your identity?"...and they just stand there for 10 seconds before answering.

I didn't expect this to be good, but I didn't expect it to be this bad either.

They should cancel all of this crap and just have a weekly 30-minute show of Penn and the Shatner dancing with hot women.

I think what you just wrote is the perfect idea. If you ask me, NBC should try to program an hour long Match Game as a special event on Thursday nights at 10 when ER isn't running. You'd get at least one person a week on the panel there to shill for a movie that would be opening the next day or possibly the next week. The key is to find an outstanding host. Who could pull it off? Dave Chappelle could be interesting if any substance use, mental health, or keeping the man down issues wouldn't conflict too much with the gig.

Can we make it a show where Penn, Shatner, Howie's disturbing self, and why not even Saget go around with the girls dancing and doing other things? I smell reality show gold there.

Penn makes an interesting host in that he's a good huckster, but the game -- at heart -- just isn't that interesting.

First, there's too much padding. Seems like half of the time is consumed by people standing around and staring. It doesn't build any kind of tension; it's just annoying.

Second, there needs to be some kind of interactivity. The twelve people don't do anything except stand still on their pedestals until their identity is revealed. When you stop and think about it -- trying to pick out who's who just by looking at them -- it's really kind of a weak premise. The player needs to be able to ask the subjects questions or something. Otherwise, you could try to be guessing the identities of crayon drawings.

OK, I've got it. Saget, Howie, Penn, and the Shatner: each episode, one of them is designated "The Host", while one is selected to draw pictures in crayon ("The Artist"), and another ("The Dancer") dances with models the whole time. Someone from the audience has to guess what the pictures are. The more he gets right, the more money he wins. If he misses one, he has to enter the Octagon with the final celebrity, designated "The Champ". Victory between the two is decided by a panel of three judges: an everyman, a washed up female who was hot 15 years ago and a British dude. Victory in the Octagon means you continue playing, but now suspended upside down within a shark tank.

It's called "American Money Whores" and will air 3 nights a week.

didnt they have a game like this awhile ago where there were 3 people and you had to guess who was who based on asking questions and see how they answer? i think the host was the guy who played j peterman on seinfeld.

but i agree - the game should be changed. its IMPOSSIBLE to guess some of these. there is no way to know what an accountant looks like or a blackjack dealer and stuff lke that. its like deal or no deal - pure guessing.

With the right host, I believe this show could work:

That, and get rid of the celebrity aspect of it, let normal people play the games and do them exactly like the old formats of the past (not like the f'ed up version of Price Is Right they did).

Pretty lame that they take the help away when it gets down to 2 left.

It was funny when she called the man "Marion Jones."

maybe lame, but she's an idiot for letting it go to waste.

the crime scene investigator and the kidney donor were pretty tough to figure out. she should have guessed on one of them before she picked the obvious gator wrestler.

Yep. It surprises me how little thought people put into seemingly obvious strategy before going on a game like this. If she guesses the CSI lady wrong before naming the pretty obvious croc guy, she is guaranteed $500K.

I knew exactly who the CSI investigator was. I have no idea why, though.

one HUGE issue i have with this show (although i'd probalby still not watch if they fixed it) is that they don't have the identities up the entire time. How hard is that to do? I can't memorize 8 identities in teh 5 seconds they show them, so how am i suppose to match who's who if i have no idea waht the identities are to choose from.
