Identity - game show Penn Gillette host
zzzzzzz...zzz.....z.........
|
speak for yourself
I like this show. |
Oh, so boring. I have never seen soooo many commercials. Between ever identity they are breaking for commercial. Not the greatest way to gain viewers. I already changed to something else. Why did Penn sign up for this?
|
its nothing but a guessing game. there is no skill or challenge.
no clues, no questions for the "strangers" as they are called. also wouldnt it be a good idea to save one of the more obvious guesses for a little later in the show. yesterday the first guess was the sumo wrestler. dingbat, save that one for when you are stuck. it was like a free guess that could have been used anytime. |

I thought the show was really enjoyable. I enjoy puzzles and that was what this was like. As you narrowed down the choices, the game got easier yet harder at the same time since some were obvious but many were not. I could have done without the stupid friends "help" though. Eve Plumb as an Academy Award Winner? |
Yeah, I don't see the point of saving the obvious until you are stuck. Hey, weren't we told as kids not to judge a book by its cover?
By the way...that belly dancer was smoking! |

I'm just trying to figure out how he's doing this new show, his Vegas act (which is still running at the Rio, IIRC) and the Bullshit show.
|
I can't believe a half way decent show like Show Me the Money (which actually requires skill, not guessing like most of NBC's "game" shows) gets canned and this comes falling out of the ass of the television execs.
I tried to watch, on and off, for thirty minutes. It is thirty minutes of my life I will not get back, and I will never watch again. I thought there might be some skill involved, like a "to tell the truth" type thing where they at least get to ask a few questions here and there, but nope, it's all just guessing. And when they rolled out the family members, like Deal or No Deal, I knew I was permanently done with this show. There is SOME skill involved. It takes a certain kind of skill to read people and to try to figure out things from non verbal communication, but not for an hour an episode, no thanks. Deal or No Deal is insufferably bad as well, and painful to watch on every level, but at least that's a show I could imagine myself being on and would LOVE to be on (easy money, baby!) but Identity? If I lived next door to the studio I would not want to be on that show. It just sucks. |
wow show me the money was canned? too bad.
tonights ep... the last guess took over ten minutes between teasing the player and commercials. just ridiculous. so i guess i'm out voted on saving an obvious guess for later in the game. |
I guessed everyone of them right, tonight. It was pretty damn easy if you looked at how the majority of them were dressed (I was surprised they would go the easy route for half a mill).
The blackjack dealer and preschool teacher were the "hardest" to figure out, but once you looked at that older woman wearing that stupid looking top (that really shouldn't be worn by older looking women) you know she wasn't a preschool teacher (and definitely not a belly dancer). |

And don't forget he also has the daily talk show (Penn Radio) on 92.3 Free FM. That is a busy man! |
I miss Greed.
|
this show is beyond dumb.
|
I enjoyed it, but can see how I'd be bored with it very quickly.
Besides the commercials, the dramatic pauses before an identity is revealed is just too much. This show could be done in 30 mins. max. |

I watched a few minutes. God, they drag it out.
My kind of show is Jeopardy, which has 61 questions in 30 minutes. |

http://pennradio.com/ 5 episodes of Identity probably took a whole 2 days out of his schedule weeks ago. |
I thought it was interesting. Some clues, but still leaves room for debating your guesses. Yes, the dramatic pauses are annoying, but overall I liked the show.
In any case, I would think that the Tri-dentity would BEST be used at the BEGINNING, when the EASY identities are still in the mix. Pick which identity you think is the hardest to figure out, and hope they throw in a few of the softball choices when they narrow it to three. Do they force you to make a choice on THAT specific identity right away? If not -- move back to it later on. If so, hopefully you can get rid of one choice right away -- and you'd still have the Mistaken Identity to cover you if you need to make a 50/50 guess. (BTW.. how many episodes before Teller shows up as an identity? :) I wonder what he would "say" when Penn asks "Is that your identity?" ) |
What is it with taking unlikable, marginally talented d-listers and making them hosts of game shows? And Gillette is the biggest load in the bunch.
Yes, even The Shat is an acquired taste to non-Trek fans. |
Cost. They can pay them about $50,000 - $100,000 per episode, and b/c people recognize them, they'll watch.
|
i liked the first episode i watched. very similar to deal or no deal, just picking a number/person, but different with the way people dress/look. probably won't watch it alot, but maybe the occasional show.
|
I'm sure there was a classic game show where contestants had to figure out someone's occupation. Can't think of the name.
