"The Eye of Jupiter"
Spoiler:
Tyrol discovers the Temple of Five on the algae planet. The temple may hold the Eye of Jupiter, which is believed to show the way to Earth. The Cylons take a keen interest in the discovery.

Athena learns that her baby, Hera, may still be alive. Lee relies on Anders to help build civilian support for the protection of the Eye. His relationship with Kara complicates matters.

At least this time the break is less than that of most network shows. Episodes start again on Sunday, January 21st.

Huh. I thought last week's episode was the last before the break. I guess not?

Calling it the "algae" planet makes it sound like it's one of George Lucas' single biosphere planets.

Can't wait for the "naked boomer" planet.

you sure about that?

Well, it might be slightly better than the Naked Jolly planet, but not by much.

I miss Jolly... I wish they had a Jolly character in the new show... I mean, one that survived... if I recall a brief mention was made and Jolly bit the big one during the mini-series.

You know...I'm pretty sure I was paying attention, and I must have missed a couple of things:

1. Did the food shortage just come out of nowhere? Would have been nice to see some hint of it in an earlier episode.

2. Were they hung up on going through that hell because it was on the "path to earth" or did they have some intel on there being a food bearing planet in there?

3. Does tonight's preview about the planet sound like a bit too much of a coincidence, or is it just me?

1. I do not recall the all the details, but somehow contaminated (with what I do not know) food got mixed with all of the food stores and the raw material making them have to destroy all of the on hand food, and all unprocessed supplies.

2. I never caught how they knew about the planet, especially since the cloud was so hard to see through.

So once again, Laura's amateur-hour machinations come back to bite her on the ass.

Wouldn't surprise me if we had a big death next episode. Either Sam or Dee would appear to be on the chopping block considering Kara and Lee's discussion about marital fidelity.

I have a feeling that the "Eye of Jupiter" isn't something on the planet; instead, it's the impending supernova.

Anyone else get a big Jesus vibe from Baltar this episode? Especially at the beginning when he was walking through the Basestar in the white robe.

I wouldn't suprised if Anders got killed really soon. Unless, the plan for Sam and Dee is to console themselves with each other. A death may be soon in the futuure. Jammer got spaced, Elle Tigh got poisoned, Kat died of radiation, let's not forget Billy who got shot. Seems being a semi-regular is not a safe job. Just when you get to like them, the're killed.

I'm getting tired of the weird piano music that let's us know we are once again on a Cylon Baseship.

Other than that, no real complaints.

An anticlimactic cliffhanger since you know they're not going to wipe out half the cast. I agree I wouldn't be surprised to see Anders offed soon. I suspect Caprica Six will fuck up Baltar and D'Anna's plans as well.

They should have given Tyrol one of Starbuck's sports bras to wear when he was out wandering, those tight muscle shirts don't do him any favors.

I didn't notice before, the heavy raiders have a giant centurion head on the front right

I liked it overall, definately has me wanting to see part 2

Though I agree, you know they aren't gonna kill half the cast so cliffhangers like that are kinda silly. And they gave away that they didn't with the previews just like they did with the big firing squad cliffhanger back on New Caprica. I also agree that the eye is actually the supernova they talked about.

... rediculous that they have a cliffhanger, then show previews of the next episode where you clearly see who survives. All in all, an OK episode... nothing special... oh, and Starbuck is becoming a big twat.

I think Starbuck has always been a twat, it's just taken me 3 seasons to get tired of it. She really has no redeeming qualities as a human, just as a "kick ass pilot."

Starbuck's only purpose is to be the opposite type of beauty from Caprica 6. Starbuck is the tomboy trailer trash beauty, 6 is the more elegant type.

Good episode. I hope they don't kill Sam!!
The whole Apollo and Starbuck stuff is getting old already.

What was with the WB montage for the preview? Are they trying to bring in the Gilmore Girls/ One tree Hill crowd???

Pretty decent episode overall. They've had some fairly crappy ones over the past month, so it's nice to see them back on track.

It's also good to see the humans and Cylons back together.

Pretty good episode. One small nitpick: Maybe I missed something, but since when does Galactica have nukes? You would think that they have come in handy in previous encounters when the Cylons were kicking their ass? Or are they Deus ex machina class weapons?

They've always had nukes...Baltar asked for and received one for his "research"...Boomer used one to blow up a Basestar...they've always been around.

As for why they haven't used them before...tougher to rationalize.

Don't they use tactical nuclear weapons against Basestars all of the time?
