Why is my digital cable on a 2 sec delay?

from the analog signal which is brought up by my PIP, the digital signal seems to lag 2-3 seconds behind. Doers that seem odd to anyone?

Supposedly the digital signal takes longer to transmit than regular cable. I'm sure it's more technical than that, but something like that.

I've noticed it too, we'll have the Tv in our bedroom and the living room on at the same channel, and the one with the DVR will be a few seconds behind the other, and they're both digital.

I've noticed this with Dish Network. Kind of a strange, but not really a problem for me.

It's not a delay in signal speed, it's the delay in converting the signal once it hits the box... straight to tv is converted faster than through a normal cable box, which is faster than going through a DVR...

It takes that long to implant the subliminal messages.

Digital cable is MPEG-2 encoded then transmitted to your set top box, which then has to decode it. The delay is due to the encoding and decoding process.

I'm not saying it bothers me, i just thought it odd. It's actually beneficial bc when I see something in PIP and then turn I don't miss the 2 seconds during the switch over.
