The cop is very devious, but I think House really is just getting his due. Even though it was technically ok, he really violated (not sexually) the guy. They both are very wrong, but House really just met his match. The cop is abusing his power, but House pretty much does the same thing.
Makes for fun tv.

The cop however, abusing his power, can be a legal issue if taken to a certain point. That can result in court orders against the cop, harassment, etc. The cop can do a lot within his power, but he can reach a point where he LEGALLY steps over the line and be subject to the law himself.

Fair enough. To be fair, House usually just comes across as bitter, grumpy, and short with his patients. Nothing terribly wrong with that. The thermometer incident was one of the few times I actively disliked House's antics and was glad to see this guy "fight back".

The problem with the cop's actions is that he's abusing his police authority to correct a rudeness problem. In the grand scheme of things, that's just stupid. Plus, after the verbal sparring didn't go his way, the cop did trip House's cane (and House could have lost an eye from the coat hook on the back of the door when he caught himself from having his face bashed into the door, I checked the footage). It was only after the cop went "physical" in his response that House "acquiesced" in the request for a more thorough exam.
House might have abused his medical authority, but he did state (true or not, I have no idea) that the chewing of nicotine gum could have an effect with an oral temp reading, thus the ironic use of the rectal thermometer since the cop was being a pain in the ass for House.

The actual medical part of the episode was terrible. I didn't enjoy that at all. The rest of it was decent. Definately not one of my favorite episodes.
When is Morrison going to get rid of her helmet? Damn that drives me nuts. I do like how she's stepping up, though.

I thought this episode was alright, i wish they went a bit further into that debate about the ethics of treating willingly overweight patients. Tomorrow's episode looks pretty interesting as well... I didn't know you could wake someone up from a coma temporarily and have them walking around and acting completely normal.

In the the episode the cop first appeared he kicks House's cane out from under him causing House to trip and fall into the door. That's Assault, hitting, breaking, or taking a disabled person's assistive device can break many laws, and as a cop he should know this, I think the writers probably didn't realize that or something. Then there's the arrest, some of that the cop fabricated, IRL the cop would have a camera documenting it which would get himself fired for the bs arrest and violating House's rights by lying about the reasons to search him.
