Thought:

Locke can walk. Rose feels like a $1,000,000. Why is Ben dying?

Me thinks the island has healing powers, which makes Ben a liar. Perhaps this whole thing with Juliet and the tape is all part of the game to "break" Jack.

Sorry to see Eko , go. Interesting character.

Good to see the "security system" once again. Glad to know it can take on human form. Found that very interesting. Just wonder why the "system" would kill Eko when the last time they met, they seemed to just act cautious and circle each other.

Methinks Bernard needs to watch his back.

Really like the shape of the new girl.

No, most people know that INXS ripped off - okay, okay, "did an homage to" - Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues" video.

That is what I kept telling my son, I don't trust Juliet. I believe they are doing some kind of major mind game with Jack.

That's the big question. I don't trust any of the "others." You'd think Jack wouldn't by now either.

And maybe where Ben lives isn't close enough to whatever healed Rose and Locke.

Anybody think the eye-patch guy might be controlling smokey? It's the last unknown hatch, and it's called the "flame," right? Where there's smoke, there's fire.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing during that sequence...and the two new club members are annoying me, but I agree about her "shape".

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Why did they have to get rid of Eko!

The writers had better redeem themselves next week before they go on hiatus until February!

I still think the x-ray's are Locke's. Ben is on a fishing expedition with Juliet and is letting her think the x-ray's are his to test her loyalty. The writers never pass up an opportunity to crib an idea from/give a nod to the internet message boards and the whole Locke's-paralyzed-by-a-tumor thing is one of the first bigs rumors I remember from season 1.

This episode didn't do much for me and was my least favorite of the season. The two newbies felt completely out of place. Every time they got a line I cringed. 'Mr. Eko's brother was in that plane!' 'Toilet still works.' 'The video says there were six stations so maybe we could watch them on one of these other tvs!' I cringed every time either one of the spoke. Not sure if it was the acting or the writing, but they felt painfully forced upon us.

The rest of the episode was pretty so-so by the show's standards, which is still pretty good compared to the rest of network tv. Certainly nothing as dreadful as the stretch last year where we had Charlie going crazy, Locke punching him out and Sawyer being the new cowboy in town, but not as engaging as the show can be when it's hitting all its marks. I hate to say it, but I'm looking forward to next week's Heroes more than I am Lost. I think that's the first time since Lost premiered that it hasn't been my most anticipated show.

Wouldn't Juliet know whether or not the x-rays were Ben's or not?

Why would she know that? I don't think being a doctor would endow her with the ability to know whose x-rays were whose (outside of broad categories like this belongs to a grown male, that belongs to a teenage female, etc). Is there something else that cropped up to make it seem like she would know for sure?

Even Star Trek had "non-descript red shirts."

Maybe not, but I don't see how Ben's testing Juliet by letting her think they're his when they might actually be Locke's. If she doesn't know, she'll have Jack go ahead with the surgery. Once Jack get's in there, Ben's in his hands. So I'm guessing he never even gets to the point of being put under.

Ditto. The smoke grabbing Eko and throwing him around like that was just too unbelievable. Everything else to date I could deal with in context to the island... but not the smoke.

I'll keep watching it but for now this show doesn't have the hold on me that it used to.

Why is the brazillian Tom Cruise on the show? I don't see the character having any purpose on the show and his lines are just dumb.

Well, I was thinking since these "others" live together, they would know one another's business, and Juliet being a doctor of sorts, she'd be the most likely person to know whose x-rays were hanging on the light box.

He has a very important function: he tests the hatch's toilets.

my mom kept saying "what if he's sending out a signal with the flushing??"

didn't locke already know that the tvs worked? didn't he see the camera that showed what was going on in the original hatch?

I thought you were asking more than you were, apparently. I thought you were wondering if she would be able to say conclusively whose x-rays were whose by looking at them. Thanks for the reply.

Well, I try to imagine these "others" don't just exist to pull the wool over Jack's eyes (or torture Sawyer), and actually live and socialize to some extent as people tend to do after some time of familiarity sets in.

I was coming into this thread to ask pretty much the same question.

I understand that the very nature of network television requires a bit of "make it up on the fly" when it comes to serial scripts. But we've now got a huge chunk of "character moments" in Season 2 that lead pretty much nowhere in terms of the grand scheme (if such a thing even exists).

I'm not here to here to threadcrap. And I'm not going to talking about jumping sharks. But I'm not too happy about how this is unfolding. I'm getting some major-league X-Files vibes (ala the later seasons).
