FINALLY caught up after watching season 5 on DVD all the way through this weekend. Cannot wait for tomorrow night's premiere.

Didn't think season 5 was the best, but Holy Jesus I don't think I've ever had such a reaction to a TV show character before. Cavanaugh? HATE!

I may not be the smartest man alive, but do you think FX is trying to string out their new material to wait out the current writers strike? Either way, Dirt will most likely tank and we may see the Shield sooner rather than later.

Nope. As bad as Dirt is, they will run it. And it seems like Riches is coming back soon as well. Soonest we'll see the shield now seems like late Spring.

It's looking like late spring or early summer. I believe Dirt has 7 episodes for season 2 starting in March and maybe The Shield will follow it?

is there going to be a series finale or did the strike kill it?

The first day of the strike was the last day of shooting for the finale, so it's done and in the can. The only bummer was that the series runner wasn't able to be on the set for the last day of shooting his show as he was on strike. But the script was done and they shot it, and I'm assuming it's edited and ready to go.

If there's one show that proves the writers are the star of a show it's THE SHIELD.

Actually, as far as how "done" the shield is, an interview with Shawn Ryan (the show's creator) done back on the 16th has a little more information regarding that...

http://blogs.kansascity.com/tvbarn/2...ields-sha.html

I read that FX was saying "The Shield" has 13 episodes ready to go. Well, I can tell you that sound work hasn’t been done on the last six or seven and I haven’t looked at the last three, including the finale. I have director’s cuts of those episodes in an envelope in my house. My entire post-production staff has been disassembled. There is no final mix cut of "The Shield" for the last six episodes.
So all the footage has been shot, but the season isn't actually DONE yet.

That makes it sound like it's quite possible they can't start showing the season until the strike is over, then. If Ryan is in physical possession of at least 3 episodes in incomplete form and others aren't even that far along, I'd say FX may eventually be put in a tough position unless this strike ends before they need the show to air.

If this show gets delayed, I'm going to jump off a bridge. About the only thing TV-wise I was looking forward to this summer.

Delayed? At this point I'm just hoping it airs sometime!

I don't think Dirt is bad... it got better as the season went on and had some entertaining moments. The show is supposed to focus on self-contained episodes that are heavy on the satire in season 2, so I think it'll be amusing and I'm going to give it a shot.

I'm just glad that FX has some new episodes for their series saved up so that I can survive the boredom of this writers strike. It wouldn't be good if they used up all their new episodes so soon and then had nothing left for... who knows how long.

Warning, in the video section there is an entry for selected scenes from Season 7. Do not watch those, I had watched one a month back not realizing what it was (site was in a different format, didn't have a heading that said Season 7 selected scenes) and there were some big spoilers I think. I don't want to watch it so I am not sure they are the same, but just a warning.

Good point.. There are some spoilers but I LOVED every one of them.. I cannot WAIT! I have been watching seasons 1-6 and I will finish up S6 just as S7 is about to air..
Spoiler:
Watched Lem's death last night. And then watched Shane almost kill himself (S6E1) at lunch today before Danny stopped him..

I am really excited for the final season coming up. I haven't heard any news on how many episodes it'll be but it looks like they're going all out and making it a pretty big deal. With the writers strike out of the way and it being the end of everything, I'm sure they won't skimp.

I found a Chiklis interview while I was looking for news on how many episodes there would be. Enjoy: http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune....-with-shi.html

Someone should make a season 7 thread... Anyone up for the challenge? I don't mind doing opening one myself, I think its gonna get pretty big especially once the episodes start airing 9/2

I've really been enjoying the interviews they've been doing with one another at the FX site. They are a must if you have kept up with the series.
