This was a tough show to watch and next week just sad. I hope Bright can get Hannah back somehow and I think Nina is running dry on Jake already..which is a good thing

Ayre 05-09-06 06:19 AM

Amy / Ephram & Nina / Andy = Great.

Reid / Reids Mom / Ephram = Good.

Bright / Harold. Bright is best at goofy. This wasn't goofy or good.

Hanna / Rose. Simply horrible. Hanna's squeaky voice and limited range, ruin scenes like this. There is very little difference between Happy Hanna, Angry Hanna and Sad Hanna. They all look like they are smiling. Of course the writing didn't help.

Ending was great. Amy has "it". She can make a scene just by standing in one place, looking into the camera.

Jadzia 05-09-06 11:12 AM

I did like seeing Rose comfort Hannah. That was very nice of her and interesting considering it was Rose's son who Hannah was raging against.

Every time Nina seems inclined to dump Jake and run to Andy, Jake goes and says something really nice to snap her back to him.

The previews for next week are scary.

B.A. 05-09-06 06:00 PM

Please let Nina and Jake go to the West Coast. And let stay there.

How come you never actally see anyone successfully commit suicide on TV?

I hope Ephram runs into you know who in NYC.

the first episode of Desperate Housewives had a character blow her brains out.

He wouldn't recognize her. She's now a brunette. ;)

And now that I think about it Nicole Sullivan did it on Scrubs this season.

Patman 05-10-06 12:24 AM

I don't have much to say about this episode, it just depressed me, even with the puppy dog look Ephram and Amy shared at the end, it just means trouble's a-brewing.

Chauzer 05-10-06 12:37 AM

this is such a good show, i really hope it gets renewed for next year

amy/efram scenes are always good, andy/efram scenes are the best imo. also liked seeing delia and andy watching tv together at the end, and amy waving good bye to efram

A little something about Everwood (spoiler)

Over on the Futon Critic, there's a press release that says that ABC has picked up a pilot (called "The Nine") that affects one of the stars of Everwood:

Spoiler:
"The Nine" is an ensemble drama about nine people that endure a 52-hour hostage standoff and are forever affected and intertwined because of it. Camille Guaty ("Prison Break"), Chi McBride ("Killer Instinct"), Dana Davis ("Veronica Mars"), Jeffrey Pierce ("N.C.I.S."), Jessica Collins, John Billingsley ("Star Trek: Enterprise"), Kim Raver ("24"), Lourdes Benedicto ("24"), Owain Yeoman ("Kitchen Confidential"), Scott Wolf ("Everwood") and Timothy Daly ("Eyes") star. Hank Steinberg and K.J. Steinberg created the Warner Bros. Television-based hour while Alex Graves directed the pilot.

So this might be related to the "death" that is supposed to shock Everwood.

However, it might not be so shocking if Everwood doesn't get cleared for a 5th season on the CW.

mdc3000 05-13-06 09:37 AM

Interesting, but I heard the death is someone who has been on the show since the beginning, so I don't think it will be
Spoiler:
Scott Wolf
.

Finally managed to catch this.

Guess some people didn't like it, but I enjoyed the Harold/Bright scenes. Always great when T.A. gets some screentime. Terrific actor. Besides, I want to see dimension to a character (Bright) - that's what has made him become enjoyable from when we first met him.

Very interesting to see Andy Brown's life come back together (only to fall apart again?). As much as you can see their screen chemistry I really hope Nina and Andy do not get together. Something just grates me about that.

I thought the Rose/Hannah bit was good as well. I really don't understand the nagging on Hannah's character - real people. =)

Glad to see the Amy Ephram moments as well. I really thought it would have ended the "up hill swing" they were having when she found out about E asking Ried to not date her, but they handled it very well. Kept thinking at the end where's Amy in this whole montage? She get a new car, or was that the Abbot's or Andy's?

Didn't see the preview for next week, but we should have another 5 eps left - hope they are all fantastic and that we get to see the show come back. I'd be able to cope with it not getting picked up with the CW, so long as they are able to wrap things up for the most part and not leave us with a cliffhanger (ala Buffy at some points in time).

clemente 05-13-06 12:51 PM

I 'm actually concerned about that list affects 24.

yeah, that info was announced a few months back, so either they're going to do both or the other shoe is about to drop.

Everwood 5/22

i thought it was a great episode. liked seeing andy's father there, he wouldve been good for next season if there was one :(

the scene w/ delia and andys dad was cool w/ her explaining everything and him realizing how andy's in his kids lives so much

i thought that they were gonna have andy operate on bright, glad they didn't

Ayre 05-24-06 06:09 AM

Easily the best of the season.

I have a feeling these last 3 hours of Everwood will be some of its finest.

Patman 05-24-06 07:20 AM

I had heard about Irv being the one to kick the bucket a month ago, but forgot about it until they showed him preparing breakfast (and after getting his wish from Edna to do some traveling since Jake was closing up shop). The writers were working overtime to keep up the "who gonna die" suspense with Rose and Bright's subplots. Ephram making time with the other girl in front of Amy just seemed a bit crass, but he came back to earth quickly to address Amy's emotional needs after Bright's balancing act came to a crashing conclusion.

The moments between Andy and his dad were tough to digest in the beginning, but as the onion-like layers of their previous relationship were peeled away, it did give Andy's character some more grit for what had happened in his past. It was neat to see Delia, a virtual stranger to Andy's father, shed light on Andy for him.

I didn't really care much for the Jake-Nina subplot. Just go already, stop making the goo-goo eyes at each other, Nina and Andy.

Ayre 05-24-06 07:51 AM

The potential romance between Andy and Nina is one of the best subplots the show has to offer. Classic story of bad timing and judgement keeping two people destined to be together apart. The scene on the swing was wonderful.

The ending with Irv was a little disjointed from the plot points in the show. It is as if it was filmed for a different episode and then writers stapled it on the end of this episode.

Andy and his dad served a huge purpose for this series. It illustrated how far Andy has come from the influence of his father, becoming a poor father himself, to being integral part of the lives of the people around him.

His father is a symbol for what Andy would have become had Julia not died and he not moved the family to Everwood.
