perhaps they came closer to the village then they knew. Maybe the smoke "monster" kept them from getting too close.

I have a theory that everything Jack is going through right now is part of another experiment (as is practically everything else on the island), with Juliette as the conductor. This experiment would revolve around trust, and who else would be a better subject than Jack? It seems he hasn't trusted anyone in his life... his father, his ex-wife... and I think he only half-trusts the rest of the losties, and that's only to survive. And now he finds himself in a box, alone with a stranger, and even she's isolated from him, save for a glass wall and a locked door. The "fact" that they're underwater drives this sense of isolation even further (although I think this cell is as much underwater as the "village" from the season 2 finale was real... we have to remember that everything on the island is constructed, even our perception). It's just Jack and Juliette. And, as the experiment goes on, we'll see the a relationship grow, Jack's shell will thaw out a bit, and, little by little, he'll starting trusting someone again. We already saw it happening a little bit when Jack agreed to sit in the corner. And the scene between Jack, Juliette and Ben, I think, was also just an act. Jack witnessed the interplay between his two captors, saw the tension and distrust, and figures that Juliette is perhaps as much alone in this as he is. Now, what the DHARMA folks are hoping to learn from this experiment only time (and JJ Abrams) will tell, but it would be interesting to see how Jack would react when he finds out. Perhaps it'll be like when Locke found out that the button-pushing exercise was just an experiment (which, of course, turned out not to be the case).

But, since this is LOST, this theory will probably get dashed to pieces by the next episode. Who knows... maybe they really are underwater... and maybe Juliette will become a friend of the losties... there's certainly no love lost between herself and Ben (past relationship perhaps?)... but it sure is fun to guess.

One other thing, though. We know that Jack and Kate were injected with something because of the cotton balls. Was Sawyer given a shot, too?

They took Russeau daughter so they know she's on the island. She even tried to trade Claire's daughter to get Alex back. And I think the whole escape was a set up anyway much like Sawyers was. They did what the needed to to her and let her go. They'll come again for the daughter eventually.

I think they are testing their blood, looking for certain traits/infections.

That's true. But, even so, did Sawyer get the same treatment?

I recognized the Talking Heads "Speaking in Tongues" CD cover immediately without HD. Was surprised when it played "Downtown" instead. "Burning Down the House" would've been cool.

Juliet mentioned something about them being given drugs, so obviously they were injected.

I thought she was referring to the dart things they shot them with.

Did I completely miss another character's cross-over in Jack's flashback, or was one not there? I honestly forgot to look for one.

"I really enjoyed the episode. It's been getting a lot of flak around most message boards though. Most people still seem to want every possible answer right now which is pretty ludicrous. We'd have no show then..."

That is true, but maybe the show would have been better off only running 1-2 seasons without stretching anything out. Probably would have made it more 'satisfying' finding things out and ending it instead of dragging it out. Course, TV just doesn't work that way. They'll milk it as long as they can.

The Other's village must not have been that far from the tail section, if they took 3 people the first day and 9 more the second day.

I wonder how long it took Ethan to get to the fuselage crash site.

That's what I'm wondering too. Looks all clear at the AA Group.

The last bit I can recall is that Jack sat with his back to the wall so Juliet could give him food. When he did this and showed that he trusted her, she stepped out of the room and Henry/Ben was there. He told her good job and she gave him a bit of a dirty look. I think that was the final shot in the episode, unless I'm forgetting something.

I'm still trying to get the math all squared up myself. That is a HELL of a distance from one point to the next in an hour's run. Unless they have a series of pathways that we don't know about.

He emerged from the area. You can't mistake his facial features - the guy who came from that exact vicinity was Ethan.
