Didnt the producers say that nothing is on a episode of lost, without a purpose or whatever?

BTW - there's a rumor that one of the characters this season might be revealed to be
Spoiler:
gay
. I thought then Friendly said that Kate "wasn't his type", it might be him.

Wanna know the reason for the hate? Because some idiots expected all the answers in this one episode, and on top of that, when we do get some answers, it's not the answers that support people's theory, therefore they can't be all smart and mighty and yell 'OMG I TOLD YOU SO, I WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG, LOL!', and they resort to saying the show sucks and they're never watching again.

Holy run-on sentence, Batman.

Almost totally agree. It's really interesting to compare the comments on a show like 24 and Prison Break, where a ton of "answers" are given each episode and everything has an "instant gratification" feel, to the comments on Lost, which generally lays things out far in advance and takes a while to build answers. On one hand you get people complaining that the writers make the plot too convenient and that the situations seem unrealistic and pulled out of nowhere, and on the other hand you get people complaining that "nothing gets resolved" and "if there aren't some answers soon, they are out!" Pretty interesting.

I still love the show. My wife and I got caught up i the last week (watching the last 12 episodes) and now I have the Lost Crack craving. I thought it was a great episode, though I did want to see a bit of the old camp. I loved Jack in season 1, hated him in season 2, and am undecided so far for this season. There are so many great characters on this show. I am very pleased. As for the CD stuff, meh, I don't know. All I know is the CD that got popped in looked blank. Don't care too much about that though, not that anal.

Since there is this "speculation" of how Ethan and Goodwin got to the
2 sites and whatnot, how far is it actually? Personally while the idea of transportation is valid, I don't think it is actually that far looking at the pictures. I believe that the 2 sites could be say around 10 miles away
from the crater in the picture. To give some reference the island of Kauai is roughly about 35 miles wide, and that picture sure doe not look like the size of say Kauai but a much smaller island. Seeing as how both Goodwin and Ethan were very athletic(if I recall Ethan dragged both Claire and Charlie without a problem?) it would not shock me that knowing the way of the land and probably some passage to go through the crater wall as opposed to around it they could do 10 miles in one hour. It would be a very quick paced jog but something that COULD be done.

Quick add-on, I also just remembered is that when exactly do we really see Ethan reach the one crash site? We know for a fact that Goodwin was pretty much there pretty quick but you will note that the tail section is definitely much closer to the site. This would also lend credence to why many more people were taken from that group right away.

Actually, it does, and it's not Speaking in Tongues or anything by Petula Clark. It's Son Volt's Okemah and the Melody of Riot, which was released as a DualDisc in 2005. The CD booklet is for the older version of Speaking in Tongues, not the DualDisc version.

Agreed, and his real name is indeed Tom as we learned in last season's finale.
As for the reason for the title, perhaps the two cities were the other's town and the lostie's camp?

One other thing I thought of, they said to Kate that they burned her clothes. Between that and the possibility of them drawing blood (as they did to michael last season) that makes me think they're trying to make sure neither one is infected with a virus.

I was also surprised the Dualdisc was inside the episode. I bet they just didn't want to get in trouble (or have to pay) for using a CD with a label on top.

And the Speaking In Tongues insert is probably just an in-joke. Actually, I was hoping the CD would play "Making Flippy Floppy."

Just a quick FYI. The CD is definiely Son Volt's Okeemah and the Melody of Riot DualDisc. Just matched up the numbers on the ring. And the booklet is definitely Speaking in Tongues. I also have the dualdisc to that, but it's probably the original release.

This begs another question. The original Speaking in Tongues has no artwork on the disc itself, and is merely just printed like many early Warner Bros. releases. With the sun and reflections in the room, it's a wonder they wouldn't have used that disc.

...and who blew up her real daddy just because he was a worthless redneck, and robbed a bank and shot a guy because she just wanted a toy airplane that belonged to someone she once knew.

Looks-wise, Kate is virtually every straight guy's type. Behavior-wise, though, there's enough issues with her that a guy who knows her past history may not be that interested in her. (And The Others seem to apparently know all of their histories.)

Did anyone notice that Jack's first scene of his flashback at the playground that on the radio is the same tune as what Sayid and Hurley were listening to on the beach in season two?>...the part where hurley joked "what time is it from"...makes you think.

Thanks for the info on the ratings. Since season 2 started at 21 million and at its lowest point was at 14 million, anything between 16-18 million this season will be deemed a success. Season 3 sounds like it'll have more mass-audience appeal than the mythology-dense season 2, as well.

I have a theory that I actually think is pretty damn plausible and isn't contradicted by anything so far AFAIK.

Spoiler:
So back in the first season, I first thought they might be clones with implanted memories and perhaps even an implanted memory of a plane crash. Well, I still think it might be something along those lines, but let's start with one possibility that I don't think anyone's mentioned yet: that the survivors were once members of the Others themselves. And that perhaps this group of people were selected by the Others, to go on some sort of mission. But in order to succeed on this mission, they needed to erase their old memories and implant new ones to make them think that they were someone else. They got on that plane to LEAVE the island. However, the plan goes awry when the electromagnetic generator goes off and sucks them back in. And now, the Others have a problem because they have them back now, but they no longer know who they are. So now they have to go collect them and reprogram them because now they have a plane crash in their memory which shouldn't be there. Which is why they know every little detail about each one of them. It also might provide an explanation about why they wanted to specifically select Kate, Jack, and Sawyer. Perhaps they were the most resilient and so they needed to make sure they captured them first before the rest.

What do you think? I think it goes pretty far in explaining what's going on.

For me, the creepiest part of this episode was the location where the cages are. That's Paradise Park in Manoa. When I was a kid, it was a popular tourist destination full of exotic birds and flowers where there were lots of animal shows. I have really fond memories of that place and to see it turn into a jungle wasteland is really sad. Works great as the Other's prison camp, though.

Wondering about the water hatch. Juliette agreed with Jack's assessment that they were underwater, but clearly she went right outside with the tray of food previously. So what gives with that door?

There is at least 1 big problem with that theory:

Spoiler:
Although the zoomed out view of the island shows it is a lot bigger than we originally thought, a large jet like they were on would require a very large runway, and I sure don't see anywhere on that island where they could put a runway.

This was exactly the problem I was thinking myself.
