The Class - *Series Premiere* - 9/18/06

I really didn't like this at all. That said, I just can't get into any sitcoms at allanymore (Arrested Development and the british Office have ruined everything else for me outside of The Office (NBC's) and Earl.) I am so hyper-aware of the laughtrack that it just takes me out the show every time it comes on. I also like to play a game where I pause the Tivo before a punchline and see if I can guess what the next line will be. Needless to say, my success rate was high on The Class.

I thought it was ok - just as I felt like turning it off, it started to get a little better, so I'm going to stick with it for an ep or two.
One more thing: why is every gay man on tv portrayed as a limp wristed, lisping sissy boy? It's the Stepin Fetchit of our times. I know a lot of gay people (I work in the fashion industy, for chrissake), but I've rarely met anyone like these characters in real life.

I did some surfing and Eric Allan Kramer was first cast as Anders husband, appeared in the early promos and was on last nights show for a split second. Oops

Saw this episode last night and while I was annoyed at first, I started to warm up to it. Really predictable punch lines. It will probably get recorded with the rest of the CBS lineup on my vcr, but I'm not sure it will get watched.
I thought the funniest parts were with the mom and her son.

I watched the second episode and I still hate the show. The biggest problem I have is with the characters. I find them annoying and unlikeable. I don't think I laughed once watching yesterday episode. This show is off my viewing list.

Second show a lot better than the first show, but still didn't even crack a smile. So is the loner going to try to kill himself every show? Does anyone think that attempted suicide is funny?

This week's episode was decent, I got a few good laughs from it. Whenever I see James Burrows listed as the director for TV comedies, I know the lines are going to have some punch behind them, and I wasn't disappointed. I'll tune in again next week.

The 2nd ep was better than the first, but still didn't impress me...I'm still going to let it have time to find it's stride, but if it doesn't pick up soon, I'll be dropping it.

I can't believe the second episode focused so much on the wife of the effeminate guy. Her character seems just seems like it exists for that one joke. (ok, two if you count Oprah). The actress isn't even recognizble or attractive. Same thing with her long lost gay boyfriend. Are they trying for a Will & Grace thing? Horrible.
Speaking of attractive, I thought both the guy who lives with his mom and his adulterous lover were much better looking in the pilot. It almost seemed like they re-cast these parts with uglier people. I know nothing looks the same in the morning light, but jeez. I thought in the pilot they were both supposed to be hot. His face looked downright ugly here, and she just looked old. Did anyone else notice this? It was weird how much different they looked here than in the pilot.

I really am wondering why I am still watching this, the scene in the hospital with the indian nurse was horrendous.
You need to go to patient information. Horrible.

so the shows are basically broken up into 4 groups:
1) gay dude and newswoman
2) guy who lives with his mom and wife of football player
3) suicidal guy and girl with the unbelievably annoying voice
4) dumped guy and "witty" girl
so far, the only one i've been enjoying is # 4. #1 is worthless. #2 is mildly entertaining when the mom is involved. #3 could be ok, but good lord, between the girl's voice and the guy always biting his hand dramatically, it's driving me insane.
so only #4. this past episode again gave some great lines to the girl (kat), and her delivery has been good. And honestly, i do like the interaction between the two.
