"A Constant Throb"
Spoiler:
With Bullock campaigning away from camp, Alma finds herself targeted by Hearst's henchmen, and finds shelter with (of all people) Swearengen. Sent to the Gem with a missive from Hearst, Barrett is treated rudely by its proprietor, who turns to familiar methods to get the henchmen to reveal his boss' future plans. Langrishe recruits one new actress at the expense of another; an obsessed Stapleton finds Claudia a hard one to pin down; and Jane shares the particulars of her latest dream with Stubbs.

Looks like its going to be a good episode. I saw shootin in the preview.

tenaciousdave 08-13-06 08:59 PM

Swearingen: "Every steps a fucking adventure."

rotfl

aktick 08-13-06 09:17 PM

I love how a show like this can make us hope a piece of shit like Al comes out on top. :p

sinister 08-14-06 01:51 AM

boy EB is a pussy. does he have any balls whatsoever. getting spit on twice and didn't wipe it off. he's by far my least favorite character, no backbone and a little weasel. bullock should've just killed him.

Roto 08-14-06 01:52 AM

Al was awfully heroic today. That was pretty cool. I wonder if they had him mention Sturgis during the big biker rally on purpose.

Those HBO cocksuckers had to remind me right before it started that there were only 3 episodes left. We better get a lot more Bullock before this is over. As soon as the shots were taken I was wondering where Ellsworth and Bullock were. I loved Dan explaining the situation to Ellsworth.

TheBigDave 08-14-06 05:19 AM

Great episode.

I'm so bummed there are only 2 episodes left in this series.

Cusm 08-14-06 09:08 AM

There were so many great lines and moments in this episode. Seeing Hearst writhe was great.

I have no idea what occured with the acting troop. Why did the young leave? I guess this was my only WTF moment this episode. That and trying to understand Jane as usual.

MrX 08-14-06 01:06 PM

"I leave here full of confidence knowin you're all thinking in concert"

I'm going to miss Trixie's smartass comments:(

The meeting at the Gem and Dan explaining what happened to Mrs. Ellsworth were all great.

mdc3000 08-14-06 03:40 PM

"WHAT AM I, FUCKING DEAF!?"

Solid episode... I really hope they have a strong finish leading into the movies.

That was hilarious. I couldnt stop laughing at that part. Al swearingen is the reason I watch the show.

By the way has anybody counted how many times they say fuck in an episode?

The Number Of Fucks In Deadwood

LordofWar 08-14-06 08:41 PM

Exchange of the Week:

Al: What are you doing here?

Richardson: Too afraid. (still looking down)

Al: If you were too afraid, you wouldn’t be here.

Richardson: Too afraid to explain.

Johnny: He’s got a note pinned to him Al.

Al: Take it off him. Then stick him in the eye with the fuckin’ pin. (Richardson grimaces and whimpers)

Johnny: He don’t mean it. (Al takes the note and reads it)

Al: Tell him, “nothing”.

Richardson: I’ll just keep quiet.

Al: No. Tell E.B., “Nothin’s going on” And then tell him, “ If I wanted to tell you anything, I’d have told you. Don’t send the imbecile over with no more notes.”

Richardson: I can’t remember all that.

Al: Can you remember, “Nothin’s going on”?

Richardson: Yes.

PaperStreetSoapCo 08-15-06 12:28 AM

My favorite exchange this week was between the commissioner (don't remember his name) and Hearst, when the commissioner compares their relationship to Socrates and Alcibiades, then Hearst gets right in his face and says, "Are you saying you want to fuck me?" rotfl

Ian McShane should do books on tape using his Swearingen voice. I could listen to that voice all day.

Tim Olyphant remains one of the poorest casting decisions for this series...he's just not in the same league as some of the other actors - particularly McShane, Boothe and McRaney. I'm not surprised his character has become somewhat "secondary" this season...but I'm sure we'll see more of him in the last two episodes.

Anyone heard any timeline on when HBO is shooting the two Deadwood movies and when they might premiere? Think we'll get them by 2008?

mytzplyx 08-15-06 05:35 AM

"What happened??!!"

"Well . . . there was some completely-no-fucking-damage-done-gunfire taking Mrs. Elsworth 'fore and af'."

But he must insert fuck and cocksucker in during his reading.

I disagree. Olyphant does a great job of projecting Bullock's barely controlled rage. Falling short of McShane's league is still damn good in my book.

slop101 08-15-06 10:32 AM

Yeah, that last scene with Olyphant at the dinner table trying to hold in his rage was pretty great.

Well, we'll agree to disagee...what you call good acting, I call "over acting". I think I've seen Olyphant playing a wild-eyed character so many times I wonder if he's capable of playing any other part (see "The Girl Next Door," "Dreamcather," "Go" and others...)

Turd Ferguson 08-15-06 12:50 PM

I understand where you're coming from, I just like him. I loved it when he confronted Hearst in the bar and said, "Did you just tell me to go fuck myself?"

That was a GREAT scene.

Baron Of Hell 08-15-06 02:13 PM

Iliked the ending also. I also like the bit with the whores talking about how Alma would talk to them.

alfredog1976 08-15-06 03:17 PM

For anyone interested, Timothy Olyphant will be on "Amazon Fishbowl" on Thursday with Bill Maher.
