Deadwood - "A Constant Throb" - 8/13/06
|
Looks like its going to be a good episode. I saw shootin in the preview.
|
Swearingen: "Every steps a fucking adventure."
rotfl |
I love how a show like this can make us hope a piece of shit like Al comes out on top. :p
|
boy EB is a pussy. does he have any balls whatsoever. getting spit on twice and didn't wipe it off. he's by far my least favorite character, no backbone and a little weasel. bullock should've just killed him.
|
Al was awfully heroic today. That was pretty cool. I wonder if they had him mention Sturgis during the big biker rally on purpose.
Those HBO cocksuckers had to remind me right before it started that there were only 3 episodes left. We better get a lot more Bullock before this is over. As soon as the shots were taken I was wondering where Ellsworth and Bullock were. I loved Dan explaining the situation to Ellsworth. |
Great episode.
I'm so bummed there are only 2 episodes left in this series. |
There were so many great lines and moments in this episode. Seeing Hearst writhe was great.
I have no idea what occured with the acting troop. Why did the young leave? I guess this was my only WTF moment this episode. That and trying to understand Jane as usual. |
"I leave here full of confidence knowin you're all thinking in concert"
I'm going to miss Trixie's smartass comments:( The meeting at the Gem and Dan explaining what happened to Mrs. Ellsworth were all great. |
"WHAT AM I, FUCKING DEAF!?"
Solid episode... I really hope they have a strong finish leading into the movies. MATT |

Exchange of the Week:
Al: What are you doing here? Richardson: Too afraid. (still looking down) Al: If you were too afraid, you wouldn’t be here. Richardson: Too afraid to explain. Johnny: He’s got a note pinned to him Al. Al: Take it off him. Then stick him in the eye with the fuckin’ pin. (Richardson grimaces and whimpers) Johnny: He don’t mean it. (Al takes the note and reads it) Al: Tell him, “nothing”. Richardson: I’ll just keep quiet. Al: No. Tell E.B., “Nothin’s going on” And then tell him, “ If I wanted to tell you anything, I’d have told you. Don’t send the imbecile over with no more notes.” Richardson: I can’t remember all that. Al: Can you remember, “Nothin’s going on”? Richardson: Yes. |
My favorite exchange this week was between the commissioner (don't remember his name) and Hearst, when the commissioner compares their relationship to Socrates and Alcibiades, then Hearst gets right in his face and says, "Are you saying you want to fuck me?" rotfl
Ian McShane should do books on tape using his Swearingen voice. I could listen to that voice all day. |

Anyone heard any timeline on when HBO is shooting the two Deadwood movies and when they might premiere? Think we'll get them by 2008? |
"What happened??!!"
"Well . . . there was some completely-no-fucking-damage-done-gunfire taking Mrs. Elsworth 'fore and af'." |

But he must insert fuck and cocksucker in during his reading. |

Yeah, that last scene with Olyphant at the dinner table trying to hold in his rage was pretty great.

I understand where you're coming from, I just like him. I loved it when he confronted Hearst in the bar and said, "Did you just tell me to go fuck myself?"

Iliked the ending also. I also like the bit with the whores talking about how Alma would talk to them.
|
For anyone interested, Timothy Olyphant will be on "Amazon Fishbowl" on Thursday with Bill Maher.

I also enjoyed the Jewel trying to give bacon and eggs to the guest scene. |
I agree with Shannon that Olyphant's the weak link in the show. He doesn't ruin the show or anything. But in most of his scenes I find myself thinking about other more capable actors they could have gotten to play Bullock. Hes just out of his league with this material.
|
Loved this episode. Liked the scene with Al beating the crap out of that guy. Seemed like the camera was really low to the ground, giving it a very odd perspective.
|
I think Olyphant does a fine job. I can't imagine with the care that Milch takes in this series that Bullock isn't being portrayed as exactly as Milch wants him to be.

He's my favorite character not-named Al. He was missed this ep, imo. And Sol trying to talk shop to him at the table so as to calm him down was killing me. I loved this ep, except when the acting troop ground it to a halt a few times. I don't mind when they Langrishe character interacts w/ Al or Hearst, but when he is dealing w/ the rest of the troupe I start to fucking yawn. And I think Jane may have finally confused me at the end of the show - usually I can follow along, but she finally lost me. Trixie telling Jewel that Alma at both plates after doing her cart-wheel and the ensuing reaction from the gimp were great. Those two characters are placed so perfectly throughout the show. I love Johnny's continued rise to stardom in the Gem. And Dan's explanation to Elsworth of the morning's events was the best part of the ep. Why didn't they kill Farnum off earlier this season? If not before? |
Anyone else notice that W. Earl Brown (Dan) wrote this episode?

Anyone know if he or any of the other cast members have written an episode before? |
Ricky Jay wrote one during Season 1:

I didn't get the scene where Langrishe was explaining that a new girl would be sleeping in the theater to that brunette? Who was she?
