I've watched the first two eps and am liking it a lot so far. The main guy is pretty awesome, I think he fits the role perfectly.

Don't really know what people are talking about with bad acting. The daughter is kind of bad, and I thought she'd been eliminated, but alas there she comes at the end of ep 2.

Speaking of which, did I miss an ep... at the end of the pilot
Spoiler:
wasn't the main guy driving away and the sheriff had prosthetic legs... where'd the sheriff go and how'd the main guy become sheriff?

There were a few scenes after that scene.
Spoiler:
The Marshall is back at his office when some DoD people come in and say that the Sheriff, whom they refer to as a Major, has recommended him for a promotion. The Marshall looks at the promotion papers and says "define promotion."

Next scene, The Marshall is now dressed as the sheriff, looking at himself in a bathroom mirror. He hears a huge crash, walks out of the bathroom into the sheriff's office to see the town mechanic's machine in the middle of the floor. He tells his deputy to call the mechanic, then takes a sip of his coffee.

So the old sheriff retired, probably at least partially due to losing his legs, and fingered the Marshall as his replacement.

The pilot to the first episode seemed a little disjointed to me.

Spoiler:
The end of the pilot made it seem like he had been on the job for awhile, but at the start of the second episode we're at the funeral of the couple that died in the pilot. That would mean he was only on the job a few days or so. I'm probably putting too much thought into, but it just didn't seem to flow all that well to me.

I'll continue to watch the show for now.

By bad acting I mean that the characters are all boring and the actors do nothing to bring anything out in the characters. The actors should be able to bring something to the characters to make them interesting and I think none of them are except maybe Joe Morton's character.

I got the impression that the scene at the end of the pilot showed his first day on the new job, what with himself looking in the mirror and saying "you can do this," and all.

I've watched the first two, and I'm entertained. Nothing else on to draw me away that a DVR can't handle.

I like the 'auto-house'. I love the non technical design of it. The moving walls and Enterprise like computer is a bonus.

So this Walter, is he just the scientist-bomb or is he getting this technology from Prophet 5, I mean Section 5, I mean Sector 5, whatever.

I think there will be separate plots every week; this latest episode was more one to tie up loose ends from the pilot and further establish the series than what I think the show will turn out to be. I do think certain character or story arcs will extend over the course of the season/series, but not to the extent of shows like LOST or 24 where watching the show is contingent on seeing pretty much every previous episode.

Anyone watch this week?

As I said earlier, I'm liking what I've seen so far, but this one really didn't do anything for me. But I'm still liking the sheriff bemused reactions to the insanity, so I shall keep watching

It's a cute summer diversion, but I think if it was on in the fall I'd probably have dropped it from my Tivo by now. Debrah Farentino is still pretty hot though.

"So it's a ray that causes instantaneous death?"
"Yes."
"Then why didn't you just say "Death Ray"?"

I laughed at that exchange.

What happened to the Greg Germann character ? It looked like he was going to be an important character

Apparently there was a gap between when the pilot was made and the show was picked up. In the interim, it looks like Greg Germann did another pilot called "In Case of Emergency," which got picked up for fall on ABC.

Ed Quinn's character, Nathan Stark, seems to be the replacement character. There's a few other changes from the pilot, like Section 5 now seems to be all about the mysterious artifact instead of where the high-tech military stuff was developed.
