Ain't that just the way of it? Poke out a dude's eye, and he's got no fight left in him. I think Major Dad was actually missing the captain.
So much for the brokering of the deal for the livery.
I like Brian Cox, but whenever he or his acting troupe appears, the show stops dead.

I didn't understand what was going on with Ellsworth and Alma - why did he reject her advances? Did he realize she was stoned? Even still, why would he ask to move out then and there?

I was extremely tense during that fight. It was excruciating to watch, and I was shocked that the Captain didn't win that one.

That was one of the most brutal fights I've ever seen. Great stuff. Sad to see the black stable owner shoot himself. Outstanding episode overall.
P.S. That one gentlemen is sure horny for the fat broads.

Count me in on the confusion over the Elsworth/Alm exchange. Did he taste the dope on her breathe? Will she get help before Hearst takes advantage of her using?

After seeing an episode like last night's, let me just say four words:
Tony and Carmella Who?
That’s the impression I got.
Good call. And Hearst maintains his position - one step ahead of everyone else in the camp.
This show now has my wife riveted, and she wanted nothing to do with Deadwood’s first two seasons. I’d love to see if the show’s ratings have possibly improved this year over last’s.

I think that's why he got himself arrested. Safest place is in jail.

Incredible episode. Things that I've been wanting to see for a while started to happen. Loved the fight and really liked the Elsworth/Alma scene...really awkward stuff. Bullock coming to get Hearst and there exchange was fucking classic.

I was behind an episode (although I've seen half of this one so far) and wanted to ask a question regarding last weeks. Since I assume no one will pay attention to the other thread, I'm asking it in here.
Last week Adams returned and was talking to Al. Adams said he had been looking for Wolcott(?) and Al said something about while they might have been friends he needed to stop looking. This confused me because I don't remember Wolcott ever being around Adams, and I thought Wolcott's demise was known by everybody (although I confess I don't remember for sure). Anyone care to fill me in on what that part was about?

What are the odds Adams will really flip sides now that the Captain is gone and Hearst needs some muscle?

My reply got really long, so I stuck it on my new blog instead of taking up half a page here (not to self-advertise). Some folks said they found my thoughts on Deadwood insightful a couple of weeks ago. I've been trying to figure out what Hearst's deal was, and the short answer is, I think he's just fucking crazy.
