American Idol -- Final Two -- 05/23/06 and 05/24/06

Just got done watching this, and as far as AI finales go, it was actually kind of fun. Putting aside that Meat Loaf sounded like shit, Mary J. butchered "One", Dionne Warwick had no range, and I don't know wtf Toni Braxton was doing, it was still fun. I spoke with His Loafness in 2003 near the end of his last big tour, and he told me his voice was shot, and this would be the end. Oops. I swear, he nearly died that night, but like a prize fighter long past his prime, Meat just doesn't know when to quit.

Just saw the end. I was pulling for Katherine McPhee for the majority of the season, but sorta' felt that Taylor needed this more. I liked him too. Any of the final 4 would've been fine with me as the next American Idol.
Chris, Elliot, Kat, and Taylor were my picks from the very beginning.
Anyway, I'm sure Katherine's career will follow the path of Clay as a successful runner-up.

May we have a short moment of silence in memory of the careers of Meat Loaf and Toni Braxton.
Was Clay Aiken trying to look like one of the Beatles or k.d. lang?
...and what about that audition tape for Kellie joining Nicole Ritchie on the next season of The Simple Life.
EDIT: Oops...Somebody already beat me to the k.d. lang joke.

Congrats to Taylor. He deserved to win this one.
Was neat to see some of the older singers coming back for this. Prince is actually a very cool person even though I never really a fan of his. When I worked at the studios he was there for some reason and a few of us started talking to him and he asked if we wanted to hear some music.. he told us to get some friends and meet back there in 15 minutes and when we got there his band was there and he had a microphone and everything was going through one speaker but he did half a concert for about 30 of us. That was pretty cool.

Uhh, Carrie right there in the beginning wasn't nice and that was a mean trick. Warn a person "here comes that girl with the dead eyes" next time please. I need time to grab a crucifix before I have to see her.
I loved the show. It was pretty god awful and cheese laden, but you know, that's how I like it. I hadn't a clue Clay was going to be there, so that was a big and good shock for me cause I love him and I don't even care how strange he is. That was a funny bit with the fanboy too. Kat and Meatloaf was fun, even though I was worried about his health, and Toni Braxton and her "WTF song does she think she is singing outfit?" was hilarious. Also, seeing Chris and the lead singer of Live so close together was kind of strange. It may have upset the universe somehow. All in all, good times, good times.
I was afraid my tendency to support the second place winner was going to continue, so I am so happy it didn't. Supporting the winner is in fact so much better. SOUL PATROL! I even liked his god awful first single this go around because I was just so happy and he was so happy and everything for that one moment was right in my world.
Hasselhoff crying though, that stole the show. Anything that ends with Hasselhoff in tears is ok in my book.

Taylor is the finished product, Kat has more potential. The only year "my guy" won was Fantasia. But honestly, I think Taylor was a lock from very early on this season - and dialidol had a lot to do with my thinking that.

I'm thinking Katharine can be a more successful runner-up than Taylor could have been. He needs this. She doesn't.

I don't think I'll ever see someone as dorkier as that Clay Aiken fan -- that thought he was just as good -- that shared the stage with him.
Man, the facial expressions on that guy was just excruciating for me to watch. But I watched anyway.
