I liked "Boston Commons" but could never get into "Yes, Dear."

I haven't ever seen him do stand-up, but then again, I've seen Jerry Seinfeld or Ray Romano do stand-up before they got their shows.

Buford T Pusser 06-17-06 12:59 PM

I'm tired of hearing the guy say "Amerikur".

True. But I haven't heard the jokes before. I've heard any number of comedians do the Jewish mother routine, or the fat routine, etc. His was new, and they were funny. Maybe he'll get old quickly, but he made me laugh enough to have an open mind.

Tommy Ceez 06-18-06 01:27 AM

I didnt see the first round of picks...did ANY young edgy comics make it?

BTW, west coast crowds SUCK...anything dark is lost on them

cornflakeguy 06-18-06 02:06 AM

Seems we are in agreement. The second set of five (seven) was SOOO incorrect. The more unfunny folks they called out there the more I knew this was not based on their comedy but on them.

They seem to have a well rounded group to shove in the house. But if they went with who was funniest, we'd have a house full of young white men and maybe a girl or two and a black guy or two.

Thats not diverse enough I guess.

Buford T Pusser 06-18-06 02:48 AM

Wasn't it the older female comedian that said something about the group being so diverse?

msdmoney 06-18-06 03:19 PM

Sounds like I had the same reaction as everyone else. I can't believe they picked Stella, she was dead last IMO. None of my favorite routines got picked, Malik S., Jon Fisch, Doug Benson (more than just a few random jokes his was an actual routine), or Josh Mcdermitt (even though his routine wasn't that great, I like his morbid sense of humor).

It was pretty obvious why they picked the people they picked.

Stillwater 06-18-06 07:38 PM

I'm rooting for Josh Blue, but I wouldn't be surprised if Gabriel or Chris Porter wins it all. Joey Gay, April Macie and Stella should all get eliminated early.

redtornado 06-18-06 08:02 PM

Bill Dwyer is funny. Wouldn't mind seeing him win.

Gil Jawetz 06-20-06 10:23 PM

I'm half glad for the eliminations.
Spoiler:
Stella
was painfully unfunny. I actually liked
Spoiler:
April
and thought she did better than the winner but with the way it's edited it's impossible to tell. Either way I actually laffed at some of the heckling interplay. That was kind of funny.

It is impossible to tell who was funnier the way it was edited, but I agree with you. Of the three, I would have kept
Spoiler:
April
too. What does please me in some way is that the three selected are amongst the least funny of the group, so at least we start tossing the dead weight out right away.

nny 06-20-06 11:16 PM

I really liked tonight's episode. The heckler competition was a good idea and they got rid of 2 of the horrible female comedians right off the bat. I do agree with the above posters that one of the ones that got kicked out was better than the winner, but still, all the female comedians on the show need to go.

Buford T Pusser 06-20-06 11:25 PM

I really enjoyed the heckler aspect of the show.

I didn't really laugh at anything on the women said (that got kicked off) and was tired of the goofy face she made all the time.

Highfire 06-20-06 11:43 PM

I thought Gabriel's take on heckling was funny.

I'm in agreement with most of the above posts.

Patman 06-21-06 12:19 AM

I would have voted for the winner as well, just because the delivery was better than the other 2 that went home.

Chris and Josh's heckling was pretty funny, as was Michelle and Kristin's. Roz might have a future as a professional heckler, though...

PacMan2006 06-21-06 01:27 AM

Roz was hilarious as a heckler.

The chick she heckled had a funny comment about it "I got my innards pulled out through my nose!!".

I agree on both. I think Chris Porter will give Gabriel a run for #1, his heckling was the best of the night. It wsa great when he called out Josh Blue for saying
Spoiler:
his "dead" mother was talking to his father. Also that his sister wasn't dead, she just doesn't call anymore.

The initial impression of any similarity to Harland Williams is gone, Porter's already funnier than anything Harland's done.

After LCS tonight I watched an ep of Law & Order on TNT from my DVR, it aired Monday @ 5pm. Guess who was an extra as the cop introducing Fontana & Green to the scene? Joey Gay. His imdb page lists 2 other bit parts on L&O, and one on SVU. Not a bad way to pay the bills while polishing your act.

My wife turned this on tonight, and the first thing I thought was, "Why is the Battlebots host on this. That doesn't seem fair."

Anyway, I hope he wins, too.

Wow, I didn't remember enough of that show to remember him. I was searching under names with Bill (two l's), not one. With the correct name, I find that he's currently the host of "I've Got a Secret" on the Game Show Network.

WTF!?

If they're going to use pros, put Jim Gaffigan up there. He'd turn them all into little hot pocket bitches in less than a minute.

Perkinsun Dzees 06-21-06 06:34 AM

I'm glad the Jenny McCarthy clone and the Roseanne Barr clone got knocked off the show. Michele Balan deserved to win the challenge. Even though her set wasn't all that funny, at least she came across as a competent stand up comic.

They will probably keep Roz on the show till the end because the house would be boring without her. I'm surprised, though, that the ship doesn't sink with her and Gabriel aboard at the same time.

silentbob007 06-21-06 07:30 AM

I didn't think Roz was a funny heckler ... just an effective one because she was louder and more forceful than everyone else. Porter and Blue's routines/hecking were the most entertaining for me. Also add me into the group that is happy that there are TWO disqualifications per week until the final 6 ... there's so much dead weight that hopefully it will get excised quicker.

Patman 06-21-06 07:30 AM

Well, they probably had Roz and Gabriel on opposite sides of the ship.
