I just thought you were trying to be subtle. That way your family wouldn't feel ashamed about your reviewer name.

I don't think a special 3-4 years ago means the guy is famous. He's hardly a household name. Perhaps a better comparison would be if American Idol allowed moderately successful singers in the contest, such as maybe a local favorite in some metro town who's been on TV a few times, but isn't really well known. And who is to say they don't? Or do they have it in the rules you can't have any kind of recording contract already to be in American Idol?

Regarding AI, I imagine since the point of the show is a record contract that any existing contractual obligations would be in direct conflict with that.

A better example would be if Cowell's label had an artist that they put through the AI paces for exposure.

I know someone who worked on this show. There will be 12 finalists and they'll all be sent to live on the Queen Mary for a few days. There will be the usual challenges and whatnot.

The names of the 12 finalists have already been posted on a couple of websites so it's no big secret. It's six women, six men.
Spoiler:
They were obviously going for a diverse mix, so you get the one black guy, the one black woman, the Latino, the Cerebal Palsy dude, the Gay guy, etc.

Obviously, not all the finalists were chosen for their talent. They picked one comedian just because she's a hot piece of ass. As a stand-up comic she is barely average.

As for the lisp girl, her name is Nikki Payne and she's actually pretty funny (even though she sucked on the first show).
Spoiler:
A lot of people think she got jobbed from the Finals just because she has such an ugly mug that maybe they thought she'd scare away viewers.

What happened to Jay Mohr. I remember posts from the last time that the show was on that suggested that the comics really didn't like him. Although, that's probably not enough to get him booted from doing the job. It would have taken NBC to not like him to get him off the show. Mohr wasn't hired to be their friend. Anyone know the scoop?

I was kind of wondering the same thing, and if this had anything to do with NBC not airing the last episode last season?

I hated Jay Mohr doing standup before every showdown. I'm going to hate Anthony Clark even more...

I'm pretty sure that Jay Mohr owns the show to some extent. Not hosting was probably a decision he had a hand in. He's still in the credits.

He's too busy making Nikki Cox laugh, or something, these days, I suspect.

Don't remember for sure. Anyone remember anything about this? I vaguely remember someone saying that Ant was on Howard Stern and told the whole story.

By the way, I just found out there is a show called Tourgasm on HBO June 11th.

The ad for Tourgasm looks great. A combo of stand up stuff and backstage/tour bus footage following these guys around in their off-color adventures.

I can't stand Jay Mohr and his "standup" (I use that term loosely) either. I thought he was a producer in past seasons so I think you're right. If it's true... best decision he ever made. I don't know who decided this guy was talented or that he should be in front of cameras.

I cannot believe that they brought Buck Star back.

the Gay guy from Brooklyn was really annoying - and those veneers were scary as all get out.

and enough w/ the fake tans/tanning product.

There were a few funny ones - I was happy to see Josh Blue make it. He was actually kind of funny. Too bad they passed along a few tired acts.

I liked that handicapped guy. He kind of reminds me of Jimmy from South Park.

Wow, their choices for tonight were absolutely atrocious. Pretty much everyone in the back room were the ones that should have went through.

Wow, what are they doing. These picks are the worst I've seen. All they needed was the girl with the lisp to make it complete.

I was floored by this! I was like, aren't they supposed to be picking the BEST comics to go to the house!? Instead they actually picked the worst! Unbelievable.

I think they are intentionaly trying to ruin this show. I guess the aborted third season didn't do enough to kill it. This is the "hackiest" group of comics that they've had.

Our area showed a baseball game tonight. I'll have to find a rerun. I think Comedy Central is playing them.
