Just like I said - "if the blast door map is accurate".

its obvious they intended it to be a question mark since the title of the show itself is "?" and the mark on the map for the location is also "?".

Really? The clearing in the forest may have been a circle, but the dirt on the ground (which didn't Ecko say was salted?) was clearly a question mark.

If I factor in the hatch door, I see a circle with a dot near it.

I can see a sort of question mark in the photo if I try hard enough, but if you didn't know what to look for, the only thing you could see would be a circle.

honestly, it looks like it was a circle before, but vegetation has grown over part of it (bottom left). thus, a question mark

But they aren't there - they are at the Pearl Station, which is east of the question mark. And it looks far more like a circle than a ?. If we can ever see a sky view above the swan, and it looks like a swan, then we'll know for sure.

Also, the ? may not be a hatch - it may be an area that the map-drawer could not access. It could be anything.

It would be easy to categorize it as "obvious", but that would be a huge mistake with this show.

More on the shark:

Comes from one of the pages that ABC created for the online game. That's convincingly the Swan logo, which makes no sense, as the Swan station is supposed to be for geo-magnetic phenomena.

That doesn't look like the swan logo to me at all.

Maybe a stretch, but sharks can detect magnetic fields.

?????????????????

It's not directly N/S. It's at an angle. Blow it up with your favorite imaging software.

Good point. I would have figured they'd be at the zoology station, but that's another possilibility.

I'm pretty positive the shark we saw at the beginning of the season did NOT have the Swan logo. Not that that means anything.

Looks like that logo belongs to the Scissors Hatch.

I totally agree with you. Screen caps show that's true also. This shark however, does have the swan logo.

regarding the map ... it would appear that the person(s) that created the map actually entered each of the hatches and made their way in them until they were not able to continue in that given hatch.

Now, considering that the map maker seemed to know which direction he was heading, he would than know that all paths were heading toward a central point.

Could the "x" marks signal where the blast doors came down as the person was exploring? And, if the person mapping was in the hatches, where the heck were the Others while this was going on - just standing around watching?

But how do you know where they are in relation to the blast door map?

Dharma = Had arm

The printout from the Pearl make me think it's some kind of time with the colon. Could it be hours:minutes? Divide by 108 to figure roughly how many times the numbers have been entered?

If the spoiler about the season finale is right,
Spoiler:
and a plane crashes, my guess it's because they decided not to enter the numbers.

I second this. Is there a landmark or something that I'm forgetting about.

I think it is a time. I'm thinking: seconds left until the numbers were entered while the buzzer was going off. It seems like a logical thing to have on the printout. It would give the observers the reaction time of the test subjects over certain periods or whatnot. The big number before it, I'm guessing, is the amount of times the number has been entered.

If there are other stations doing some sort of task, how would you know if entering the numbers (or not) is what caused the plane to crash in the first place? Perhaps one of the other stations did something that caused it.

We've seen in clips the grey "things" whizzing about when the first plane crashed. Maybe this is a result of another station making a mistake.
