I see what you're getting at, but as far as the pacing of the narrative, I'd say Lost is somewhere between a regular drama and 24. With 24, something's constantly happening and one episode starts with the literal next second in time after its predecessor. Lost does have some downtime and, while a lot of episodes end with some sort of cliffhanger or big reveal, they usually don't close with an 'oh dear god, what's going to happen next!' moment.

That said, I'd love if Lost switched over to the format of 24 and think it could only help it's ratings. My other posts were just pointing out that something like 24 is far and away an exception, and not the norm as far as scheduling for network programming.

Anyway, this has gotten way off topic for the thread, so back to last night's 'episode'. Yeah, clip shows suck.

goofee girl, your post seems to indicate that there was new material in this episode. Please elaborate?
Well I don't have a TIVO, but on my DVR, you can certainly tell it not to record shows even though they are on a season pass. Took me about 5 seconds.

I'll never understand the vitriol directed to the scheduling of this show. The amount of time spent bellyaching about it is really pitiful.

But this gives them a couple of bonus discs to pack in with the Season 2 dvds(Sept. 5) to make the fans hunt down at multiple retailers.

The gaps in Lost seem worse than in other serial-type shows as each episode focuses on a different character. So it may be a few months between Charlie-centered or Hurley-centered episodes and after a few months it is hard to remember what is going on.

The time spent posting about the bellyaching is really pitiful as well. Join the party.

But unless you read up ahead of time (and most viewers do not), you have a "new" episode of the show on your Tivo that you sit down to watch (with popcorn and "clue notebook" in hand) only to discover that its a fucking clip show.

if you're nerdy enough to have a "clue notebook," then you're nerdy enough to watch the clip show

Shit! I missed last night's show. Does anyone know when ABC will be doing a clip show on all the clip shows aired so far?

Ya know, to get me up to speed and all..

Actually, this already was the third recap episode this season.

I'm tempted just to wait and watch them on DVD, talk about dragging it out

I didn't mind the recap. I saw the first season on DVD, then missed the first half of the 2nd season. The recap filled in the gaps for me quickly.

All I know is I don't wanna wait till January for season 3. Can you imagine a nearly 8 month wait instead of a little over 3?

^ I'm totally fine with that. I thought it would suck waiting for 24 in January but there are other shows on TV to fill you time with until then. The wait isn't that bad, knowing it is going to be a great and continuous ride through the whole season.

You have a clue notebook? Do you think you're going to solve the case Mr. Holmes?

My question is:
They focus on the Others so much? Has everyone forgotten about the "monster" or is that now just an afterthought? Eco stared down the black smoke monster and not one word is mentioned?
Seem a little strange to anyone?
