In the latest issue of EW (w/ the current sesason's contestants on the cover) they have a "Where are they now" section about past idol contestants.

Could anyone tell me what is so appealing about Taylor Hicks?
Usually, when I don't like someone on a reality talent show I can at least see why OTHER people would. But in this point I don't. He's annoying and I just hate him. Is there anyone else that DOESN'T like him? I feel like I'm the only one in America that isn't into him
I really think he could take a week off singing period and would still be number one in America's eyes. And that is why I'm ready to quit Idol this year. It's just no fun knowing that he and Kellie can do no wrong.

In Defense of Taylor
They seemed to be short on time when they asked him to pick a group.
I think it is very possible that he was going to walk to one group, shake hands with Chris...walk over to the other group, shake hands with whomever was closest, and THEN walk back to the middle.
If you noticed, Seacrest was rushing to get out which group was lowest 3. Taylor didnt even make it all the way over to the second group before Seacrest revealed the bottom 3.
I watched it again on Tivo and that is how it played out to me.

A good article on post-idol failures.

Either way, Seacrest blew his load too quick.

So, only three singers who didn't win have had Gold CDs, and two of them were second place winners. (I still can't believe Josh did so well.) Even though you may find other ways to work the fame, the stories that you don't "need to win" are pretty overstated. Unless you are Clay Aiken, you need to win this bitch and how.
I thought that was memorable for being good, and that "Love is a Battlefield" was memorable for being very, very bad.

I guess I really enjoy the show for the entertainment value, and the drama, but really could care less about the winners or the runners up, since once the show is over, so am I with the contestants.

So, no one else is appreciating Katharine's Wednesday outfits?

Other than that I have almost zero interest in what these people do after each season. Taylor is probably the first person I might want to hear from in the future.

Good to see Chris in the bottom 3. Taking credit for the Live cover, singing Creed {{{shiver}}} and that pathetic "What a Wonderful World" earned him the spot.
I agree with a previous poster...looking back, Paris probably had the best performance.

American Idol brings out the music nerd in me. I find myself every week thinking of what song I would sing if I was on the show and my favorite aspect is thinking of ideal themes and picking which contestants should sing what song.
I can't remember which season it was, but I had a James Bond theme idea in my head and picked out perfect songs for each contestant.
I am such a geek.
