Well, it wasn't quite the lashing I was hoping for but I thought this was a really damn good episode regardless of my expectations. It was REALLY well written, in my opinion. What WAS said about [expletive deleted] was spot on and their little mini-episode pretty much summed up the entire series to me. The big wheel chase had me laughing out loud and I really love how moronic the adults in this show are as caricatures of how some people really act in our world. Now, the real question is will there really be a part two or was that another joke? I could see it either way. Oh, I felt some hardcore déjà vu when Kyle was asking Cartman "Why don't you like [expletive deleted]? You have the same sense of humor." Oh, the horror.. the horror.

Anyone think there won't be a part 2 to this? Not because Comedy Central "pussed out", but just because they never intended it? I cannot think of another 2-parter episode besides "Cartman's Mom is a Dirty Slut" and we all know what happened after part 1 there. I hope there is because I really enjoyed where they were going with this, even if they don't do anything about FG specifically.
I do love that they are still ripping on Scientology. And America burying its (non-sucky-Borg
) collective head in the sand was fantastic.

At first I thought the were going to end it the way they ended the first Professor Chaos episode... asking questions and then immediately answering them. I could see them actually doing a part two next week. But if they don't, that would be funny too.

The big wheel chase is the funniest thing I've seen on South Park in a long time. D saw it and said, "they're ripping off Torque." (bad motorcycle movie), and he's right. Frame for frame it was the same as one of the chase scenes in Torque. The police car spinning out of control was friggin' hilarious and I think I broke a rib from laughing.

This reminds me of Star Trek vs Star Wars.

This is exactly like Star Trek vs Star Wars, in that we're dealing with two completely different creative things loosely connected by something superficial. Aside from them both being crass animated series, Family Guy and South Park have very little in common. I like both of them, but for completely different reasons (although neither is anywhere near as good as its peak quality), and I can see why Matt and Trey would absolutely hate any comparison. Family Guy is fun and undeserving of a lot of the repetitive vitriol around here, but it has never approached or even attempted the level of insightful sociopolitical commentary South Park often presents. They're just completely different series.
As to the episode itself, I really enjoyed it. I love when the children are incredulous to the adults mirroring society and acting like complete fools. They did a good job pointing out where Family Guy has lost its way since returning from the dead. And that big wheel chase was absolutely hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing when the patrol car skidded onto the street behind them.
to the animators on that whole sequence.das

so what happens if they show a scene mocking Mohommad in next week's episode? Are they actually threatening to show something that could result in what happened in Denmark? Or is this just going to not have any effect on the world whatsoever?

I'm hoping they aren't teasing us, I really want to see where this goes.

ah, I don't think I saw that one. I wonder if it's timing had something to do with it. It seems that "the world" is looking for anything Mohommed related to freak out over.
EDIT: that episode was originally aired 7/2001. I'm guessing shit could be a lot different this time around.

I think the best part of the chase sequence was the "Suck Myyyy Balls!" yell by Cartman at the end. Good stuff.
Extremely well written show this time around, even if it wasn't as laugh-out-loud funny as several other episodes. South Park has evolved from a dick-and-fart-joke show in the early seasons to an almost real-time social and political commentary show, while managing to still throw in the juvenile jokes. I love their response time in putting together episodes within a week of a world or cultural event.

I thought it was a great episode. And like others have already siad, it didn't feel forced at all and was very well written. However I am a bit biased since I can't stand Family Guy and have always loved South Park.

I'm a huge Family Guy fan and I loved this epidode.
I think something along the lines of the following would be funny:
-Next week the show starts off with an exaggerated "Previously on South Park" bit. Then, as soon as that is finished, they instantly have an announcement about how Comedy Central has pulled the prepared part two episode, so in it's place they will air a very special presentation, straight from the Super Best Friends, it's the Prophet Mohammad Show!
It could be some sort of variety show, a talk show with Mohammad as the host, or maybe an episode just about him like the episodes they did for Terrance & Phillip, Pip and Butters.

i think it would be funny if instead of the 2 parter ending they have the episode be the family guy episode with muhammed. then everyone would be happy about them totally ripping on family guy and it would be like the not without my anus episode.
or they could just finish the 2 parter.
or they could just finish the 2 parter.
