04/05/06 - South Park - Cartoon Wars

From the Comedy Central Press Release:
Why does Cartman hate "Family Guy" so much? It's all-new episode of "South Park" premiering Wednesday, April 5 at 10:00 P.M. on Comedy Central.

Kyle loves "Family Guy" and hates Cartman. The two boys embark upon a mad chase across the country and the fate of "Family Guy" lies with the first boy to reach Hollywood in all new episode of "South Park" titled "Cartoon Wars," premiering Wednesday, April 5 at 10:00 p.m. on Comedy Central.

Oh. My. God. This could be the greatest episode of all time if it goes where it SHOULD go.

Here's an interview of Matt and Trey from last year:
What's the meanest thing ever said to you before, during or after a gig?
MS: When people say to me, “God, you guys have one of the best shows on television. You and Family Guy.” That fucking hurts so bad.
TP: Very well said. It's such a kick in the balls.

From Nate Pellettieri (Production Assistant) via the South Park production blog:
This week’s episode actually makes me proud to have my name in the credits – even if the episode forced me to obtain an unlisted phone number and move to a safe house.

I can't wait for this one!

Cartoon Wars: South Park is the only one of the three (Simpsons, Family Guy) that could actually respond to an attack in a timely manner.

Wow. This sounds like its going to be a good one. If I had to make a choice in a Stewie VS. Cartman battle, though I'm not sure I could choose.

This is going to kick so much ass, that the pile of kicked asses will be visible from space.

If Matt and Trey dish out more hatred and vileness than they did to the scientologists, this episode is going to kick all sorts of ass (and I enjoy Family Guy, but not on the level as I enjoy South Park).

This got me thinking... For those of us that are fans of both shows, if the battle lines were drawn and it came down to who stays & who goes... Which side would you all stand on?

I'd be with South Park.

South Park, no contest. I enjoy Family Guy as much as the next guy, but South Park transcends cartoons and comedy.

I don't really think either show is doing so well anymore.

'Old' Family Guy vs. South Park ----> Family Guy, hands-down, no contest
'New' Family Guy vs. South Park ----> still Family Guy, but not by as much

But this does have the makings of a great episode. Off to go set the DVR...

I can't wait! Ever since Family Guy premiered like...6 years ago(?), I've been telling people how it's just a rip-off of tons of different cartoons. I refuse to watch it now-a-days, and when I did give it a chance, it just wasn't funny enough for me to keep watching. South Park on the other hand, will always hold a special place in my heart for being so satirical, witty, not-PC, and yet also immature.

Stuff like Family guy and American dad make me angry that Futurama got cancelled.

I love Family Guy, but this should be awesome.

Also, it's interesting that Matt & Trey seem to hate Family Guy yet made Kyle, the hero character, like the show and Cartman dislike it.

I thought the Family Guy gag in the Clerks cartoon summed it up nicely:
"Let's put them on Gilligan's Island and make gay jokes about them!"

While the Simpson's episode of South Park was pretty much an homage.. I hope this is a straight up carpet-bombing.

Really looking forward to this one. I used to find Family Guy funny but have really grown to hate it over the last few months.

I watch Family Guy for Brian and Stewie. The rest of the show is ok but if it wasn't for those two I wouldn't watch at all.

Yes, indeed. I love FG too, but SP is a history maker.

I just don't know if South Park has ever had anything as epic as Peter's fight with the chicken.

Don't know if this is a technicality, but what aboot the Canadian-American war? They did bomb the Baldwins. That was pretty epic.

Family Guy is, was, and always has been fucking weak. I'll take South Park anyday.

I believe the "whore off" between Mr. Slave and Paris Hilton was more epic than the chicken fight (which, I believe, was one of Family Guy's better moments).
