Not a fun night, and Ray LaMontagne, at least pick something that someone in the audience has heard of. You know Sufjan Stevens or something I think taylor was going for crazy obscure.

Nearly unwatchable evening of Idol. Poor song choices all around. Chris needs to show some more versatility than screaming in a mic week after week. Anyone notice the graphics problems they were having? The phone number graphic wasn't keying in correctly on Mandisa and you could see the band in the lower 3rd. It also kept popping in and out.

Lisa looks and sounds defeated. I agree that she was awesome in Denver and has totally hit the skids. I think she's just ran out of gas.

What the hell was Paris doing trying to cover a Beyonce song? I remember a contestant from a few years ago named Aloha tried to cover that song and it still sucked.

Overall noone stood out. Bad production tonight. I agree with Simon, if this was a concert that I paid to see, I would have walked out halfway through it.

Horrible show. No one was any good. As usual, Taylor, Chris and Kellie impossible to get through to, so they won't be even close to going.

Take your pick of the bottom three. Lisa and Bucky probably going, i hope it's Bucky, that guy can't sing at all.

Ray Lamontagne on Idol, whodathunkit? Now a version of John Wayne Gacy by Chris, now that would be something!

Taylor choosing that song, I am now firmly in his corner for winning this thing just on that song choice alone, awesome!

The handlers slowly sap the energy from each one of these peformers each week, and those forced smiles, they are beginning to be painful to watch, I hope Taylor keeps his shtick and does not sway too far from who he is.

Bo Bice showed he was a really great contestant again, as Elliot could not hold a candle to his version. The fact that they placed him last, and gave him pretty positive comments on what was a very uneven performance, means they are truly concerned he may get booted ahead of Bucky.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned how AI made damn sure to let Chris state that his "Walk the Line" song was actually Live's version. They tried to sneak that in there all nonchalantly as if it weren't totally in response to the backlash Chris has been getting.

DialIdol predicts that any of the following can go home (assuming a 2% margin of error, which seems low to me):

6 Paris Bennett 16.3077 -
7 Mandisa 15.2657 -
8 Bucky Covington 14.8601 -
9 Ace Young 14.5245 -
10 Katharine McPhee 14.3217 -

Elliott and Lisa are "on the bubble."

Personally, I am with Randy and Paula on Paris' performance. She did really well. It just amazes me that the Pickler can do her little seductive minx act and it's okay. But, because Paris is 17 years old, she shouldn't "carry on" like that? She did a Beyonce number and, quite frankly, she did the moves that the song called for--and was done quite well. My ranking on last night's performances:
1. Paris
2. Elliott
3. Mandisa
4. Taylor
5. Katharine
6. Chris
7. Ace
8. Lisa
9. Bucky
10. Kellie [suds sucked]

But, of course, we know that no-singing Kellie won't be going home because her large fanbase is obsessed w/the little minx. Lisa will probably be the one to leave tonight.

Still don't get all the criticism for Lisa. I think she's pretty talented.

That was really bland tonight. No one stood out for me.

Totally agree concerning Lisa.

I am wondering how accurate they will bethis week . They base their predictions off of busy signals, but I was using DialIdol last night and I got very few busy signals, even when I cast a few votes for Taylor.

Do you think because the show sucked, less people were voting overall?

I never used to vote because of the constant busy signals so last night was the time I used DialIdol, but I was surprised how pretty much every call went through, save for a few.

Very Good
Katharine
Taylor

Good
Kellie

OK
Elliott

Bad
Paris
Mandisa
Chris

Horrible
Ace
Bucky
Lisa

Either Taylor, Elliot or Katherine will win. Kellie has an outside shot because she has a huge fan base.

Chris only can sing one style, rock. Every song he sings sounds the same.
He will not in.

Paris has been going downhill since the auditions. She gets worse every week.
Last night's performance was tough to watch.
What are Randy & Paula thinking ?

One of the worst episodes EVER. I would have rather seen Chris do a song by Nickelback, rather than DESTROYING any rock cred in one shot by covering Creed and mentioning how it's one of his favourite songs...oh lord.

I could barely hear a fucking word Elliot was saying, and it always seemed like he was trying to catch his breath and was a few beats behind the music, like he didn't quite know the arrangement...given, it wasn't as awful as some, but the praise from the judges left me scratching my head.

I can't stand Paris. She did an OK job but there is something about her that bugs the shit out of me. Ace licked complete ass, butchering the song...I give him props for having balls to admit he loves TRAIN on national TV, but this was PITIFUL...this one trick pony isn't going to last much longer...speaking of one trick pony, while Mandisa has pipes, it feels like she has sang/yelled the same fucking song week after week...I can't distinguish these performances from one another.

Pickler picked one of the worst songs I've ever heard on the show and seemed like she wasn't sure if she was on tv or going to get her crotch waxed...she seemed confused and uncomfortable the whole time. I LOVE Katharine, but that Xtina song was BORING and didn't hold a candle to Aguillera...they really need someone to help them pick the songs, because song choice has been a HUGE factor this season. Bucky did the same thing he's been doing all along, given he actually does it alright, I think he'll just make it to next week.

Taylor was great, but the song was just alright. I think after having the audacity to sing a Kelly Clarkson song, especially one that is so personal and filled with emotion, only to give a deadeyed souless performance, Lisa should pack her bags, she's going home tonight.

Simon really is the only judge with an ear and brains...he's usually right on the money, while the others barely add anything of value to the process.

I did not enjoy last night at all. I thought the best singing performance was Taylor, but I missed his energy and stage presence. I thought Paris did pretty good also. So I have:

pretty good
Taylor
Paris

sucked
Everyone else

I thought it was funny when Simon said that Creed wouldn't appear on the show in a million years. Come on! Creed would go on AI for a six-pack and a few sandwiches.

I took Simon's comment to mean that the show was too good for Creed music. I may be mistaken.

Katharine was horrible. I don't know what the judges were listening to.

Out of all of the annoying Creed songs out there, Chris picked the most annoying one.

Taylor was impressive. I'd never heard the song, but it was descent.

In agreement with most everyone about how horrible it was last night. Taylor didn't suck. But, God, again... I HATE the songs Chris sings. I mean, I truly cannot stand the bands he is into and I'd almost rather hear someone come out on stage and sing Tiny Tim while getting an enema.

I think he meant Creed's music doesn't really belong on AI. It's too heavy metal for the show. AI is supposed to be a pop contest.

Simon was dead on with Chris. If he doesn't show he can do anything else he will be gone.

Lisa - Terrible performance, terrible decision on the song. You can't open yourself to comparisons to the most successful Idol winner like that unless you can deliver. She just proved she's not in the same league.

Kellie - Just so-so. She's okay, but she simply lacks the overall ability to take it to the next level. And sorry, to address a comment made by Simon a few weeks back... she is NOT as good vocally as Carrie Underwood, not even close. Kellie's very country-by-numbers, and she doesn't have the range to convincingly switch to pop like Carrie did with "Alone" or "Could've Been".

Ace - Another nasally performance from Ace. He has that one really high note, and he has his midrange notes, but oddly can't seem to pull off any notes in the middle of that range. I would call them "semi-high notes" for lack of what the real term is. When he's singing and has to go higher it just sounds awful.

Chris - I hate Creed, so whatever. He should've tried "Drops of Jupiter" instead of Ace. It would've shown a bit more range.

Mandisa - WTF was that? I thought the idea of doing a 21st century theme was to showcase how the contestants can fit into today's marketplace. That song may have technically come out in 2000, but it sounded just like it could've come out in 1990, 1980, whatever. It wasn't even a great song for showing off vocals, either. And to wear those jeans while doing it had to be sacriligious in some way.

Katherine - Not terrible, but she didn't sound like herself tonight. There was a bit of a country edge to her voice tonight. It didn't quite work for me, but I admire the fact she showed some versatility in her voice.

Bucky - Same complaint as Kellie, only worse. He's not even all that great on a country level.

Taylor - Good performance, but I wasn't a fan of that song.

Paris - She at least had the right idea here. I love that she took advantage of the theme. Unfortunately she picked one of my least favorite Beyonce songs, but she did okay with it.

Elliot - The arrangement didn't work for me. His excited happy facial expressions just kill the tone of some of these songs. Vocally it was mostly good, but I would've preferred he did the song straight up or even slowed ti down a bit.

Strong agreement. I didn't have a problem with Bon Jovi or RHCP but I just can't stand that modern radio rock stuff he really seems to be into.
