Yea, they said there could be a sudden death 4th round but I think that is only if there was somehow a tie? Like maybe first round 10-9 Ed, second round 10-9 Kendal and third round 10-10? Can there be a 10-10 round?

Well, he didn't get a lovely watch.

I recall in the first season the winners also got an automobile. In remember Bonnar asking Dana White, "Do I get the car too?"

Here's a reminder to watch Wed. Ultimate Fight Night Matchups look good.

Chris Leben Vs. Anderson Silva

Rashad Evans Vs. Stephan Bonnar

Jonathan Goulet Vs. Luke Cummo

I stoked to watch Luke figt again as he's been a favorite since the show. Also Bonnar/Evans should be a fun one.

MrBob 06-27-06 04:35 PM

Getting anderson silva was a big score for the UFC, I just hope the rules won't hamper his Chute Box fighting style too much.

You can see Tuf Season 3 winner Kendall Groves taking on Ufc vet Joe Riggs here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTZxAJEJgSA&eurl=

he certainly has improved a lot during the show

zuffy 06-27-06 06:56 PM

Kendall got owned by Riggs. He's luck to have Tito as the coach.

Lloyd Dobbler 06-27-06 08:33 PM

I went into the season not really liking Tito but I loved his training and work ethic and by the middle of the show my opinions of him and Shamrock (who I can't stand now) completly changed. Unlike Ken, Tito really wanted to help those kids excel.

MrBob 06-27-06 10:49 PM

If you haven't seen Anderson Silva I found two of his fights uploaded

Silva vs Curtis Stout (who is a UFC vet)

For the Hell of it

BJ Penn Taking on Takanori Gomi (Who is probably the top 155-160 fighter in the world)

Yep. All we ever heard was how much of an ass Tito was. Sure, he did get to be a bit of a prima donna, but there was nothing cooler than how he's taking these guys from mediocre skills, and putting them in the spotlight.

Only real difference no knees or kicks to the head of a downed opponent. I doubt that will have much if any effect on Silva's game plan.

I don't think Leben will be able to handle Silva. If he tries to stand up with him he will be in trouble.

If you guys really want to see something funny... Go to spiketv.com and go to the UFC section (TUF or whatever it says).. Watch the Chris Leban video. I almost fell out of my seat.. This kat thinks he's at the top of the middleweight level. He also thinks he's well liked by fans.. The last couple times I've seen him fight and win I don't think he got much popular fan fare and I definately don't think he's one of the best..

tbird2340 06-28-06 07:13 AM

Woh... Just watched that Leban vs Swick fight. When was that?? Swick got KTFO!! He wasn't applying any "swickatine's" that fight..

If you saw the youtube video of Kendall's fights linkedf by MrBob, you see that Kendall was very green. He is lucky to have Tito as a coach and then train with Team Punishment.

tbird2340 06-28-06 09:40 AM

Geez how did I miss that.. It was right above his post.. My bad.

Wow, nice to see Riggs actually win one! :D

Riggs??? Win???? Naaaa... never happened, must have been one hell of a fake job. He's still part of one of my favorite recent fights, where he fought Matt Hughes and Hughes literally twisted his arm like a pretzel for about a minute. It was almost like Hughes was just toying with him, or not wanting to end the fight in 6 seconds due to tap out.

tbird2340 06-28-06 01:50 PM

Well he also failed miserably to cut weight that fight.. I think he was MAJOR weak from trying too.. Not that Matt wouldn't have won anyways....

Hopefully it won't be a problem, Silva does fight all over the world in diff organizations, so he has to be use to fighting under different rules. Still it is not the same with out soccer kicks to the head and face stomps.

I found this today a Silva highlight vid:

Obviously it didn't hurt him. He pistol whipped Leben in under a minute. And Leben supposedly has an "iron chin". Silva put on a clinic. Great footwork, Stuck him with Jabs when he tried to come inside on him, deadly accurate punches right on the button, high kicks, knees. Hell he knocked him out twice, but the ref didn't stop it when Silva thought he would so he knocked him out again. As Joe Rogan said "Rich Franklin just ran to the Gym".

I was also surprised at how easily Rashad handled Bonner. Those were some nice slams and Bonner is a big guy. Couldn't do much to him on the ground though but Bonner did a good job of trying to escape and keeping Rashads arms tied up so he couldn't hit him.

Cummo fight was pretty entertaining as well. But he should have won at the end. He had the RNC sunk in but was too tired to finish it.

Lloyd Dobbler 06-29-06 02:50 AM

Silva is a stud and I hope he's in the UFC for a while. And man that was a clinic given to one of the mosted hated UFC fighters so I thank you for that MR. Silva.

I too was disappointed in Bonnar's performance but Rashad did do way to much sitting on Bonnar for my liking. Would have like to seen him keep it standing up a little longer.

And Gurgel not winning was disappointing as well. When you opponent turns and runs away twice he should lose on principal. No way George should have lost that fight. I believe he only "clearly" won 1 round but the other two were draws as far as I was concerned.

Luke's fight went past my Tivo so I missed the last few minutes of round 3. Each 1 had scored a round up until that point so I wished I saw the end to offer my impressions.

zuffy 06-29-06 11:40 AM

I think Lesben didn't take A. Silva too serious. He got his ass KTFO twice in under a minute!

When is Rashad gonna finish a fight without going to decision? His record looks impressive but his fights are not.

What is the deal with Kristian's 40-5 record? Who the hell did he beat... little kids? This guy is a joke. He should stop fighting.

FantasticVSDoom 06-29-06 11:53 AM

Im so glad that little bitch Leben got his ass handed to him...So tired of hearing him talk smack and not back anything up. I have no problem with people talking shit, but make sure you can back it up. The judges for UFC are getting worse. I agree that Rashad needs to start showing some growth, but what judge scored that fight a draw? I mean come on, he handled Bonner for three rounds. If Evans can gain some Jiu-Jitsu skills, he will be a good ass fighter.

I also didnt see where Gurgel lost that match...I mean the other guy was supposed to be this great Muay Thai guy, and all he did was box? I mean I know you dont want to be taken down, but throw some front and round house kicks once in a while. Plus he just basically ran the whole match. Oh well. Still a fun night, just wish we could get some more live fights on TV more often.

With Randy Couture and Georges St. Pierre as coaches...

tbird2340 06-29-06 03:07 PM

Pretty disappointed with the fights last night. The only one that wasn't a snooze fest was the main event.. Man Silva looks like he is going to be a MAJOR force. WOW did he look good..

The Rashad / Bonnar fight kinda sucked. Sure, Rashad had some OK slams but then he just layed on top of Stephan the entire round until Stephan found a way to get up, then he slammed him down and layed on him some more.. What a boring fight. I know a win is a win but man.. I think that is a sorry way to do it.

The Gurgel fight was descent but I think Jorge kinda got screwed.. I mean, I think they both landed some descent shots but that other dude basically ran away the entire time..

Also, is Couture really going to be a coach for TUF4? That's kinda weird since he was a coach for TUF1.. Love the guy so I'll be happy to watch him again..
