Isaac Hayes (Chef) to Leave South Park

Isaac Hayes is reported to have left South Park because of his objection to the way the show disrespects religion. He is a staunch Scientologist and a show recently poked fun at that religion.

WHAT A HYPROCRITE! That show has poked fun at every single religion, disability, race & sexual orientation a hundred times. He has had no problem with that. Just don't touch his religion!

I'm sure Xenu threatened to infuse more negative body thetans into him if he didn't quit!

I wonder if they'll have him replaced or explain why Chef won't be around anymore??

I thought about posting as well, but there is already a 3 page discussion going on in the SP thread.

Anymore? As far as I can recall, Chef hasn't been in ANY recent episodes of the show. I'm thinking this because he gets a special credit at the end of every episode and I'm thinking "When was the last time we heard from Chef?"

In any case, a stupid move on his part if you ask me. They'll just not use Chef anymore... like when Mary Kay Bergman died they had no female voices for a whole half a season.

I used to love Chef, but now he is a non-entity.

They should do a show about how Chef left South Park to join a cult with Isaac Hayes.

What a fucking hypocrite.

4-5 years ago Chef leaving the show would've been "Noooo!!!"

Now it's just "m'eh"

The show does fine without him. Maybe they can pull a Simpsons and just have him serving food and not have him saying a word. Easy way to bring back characters without a voice attached.

I agree. I hope they don't let this go. There can really be a whole season based on his being a super hyprocite. It should involve psychatrists, ritalin, and prozac.

They can find someone else for the voice. It's not that hard.

can they have someone imitate the voice, and leave Isaac Hayes in the credits? That'd be hilarious.

Yeah, cuz the credit gets Hayes more money in SAG/AFTRA royalties.

I think they should get some other 70's singer (perhaps a member of P-Funk or Barry White) to come in and be Chef's cousin or brother or something, and have Chef be dead or away by some heinous manner.

Doesn't matter what they do. Garrison is a woman now. They could easily keep the character and explain a voice change (or not). They could bring in a relative. Bring back Mr. Derp! Or just forget about it, he's rarely seen anyway.

He won't get away unscathed, even he should know that after a decade.

Ditto. Losing Chef is not a big deal anyway. I haven't seen him in an episode for awhile.

With Hayes gone, the gloves are off and I think that they'll make fun of anyone now!

Oh snap, they already do.

I'm sure Trey and Matt are hurting for cash... that would be the ultimate FU. "you don't want to be associated with our show? too bad, you are."

Here's a theory. Maybe it never was Isaac Hayes doing the Chef voice! It was the damn Loch Ness Monster trying to get his $3.50 (tree fiddy). Its all a big cover up.

We used to eat at this restaurant all the time and there was this guy there who was a regular. We would always overhear him talking to his friends and he sounded EXACTLY like Isaac Hayes. I always wanted to get up the nerve to ask him to say "Hello, my little cracker" but I figured he'd think I was a crazy white girl.

Anyway, I wish I still lived near this place, because someone should give him Matt & Trey's number!
