I usually agree with Simon, but telling Chris that he made that song "his own"? All he did was copy the Chili Peppers version! I would have had much more respect if he had taken another Stevie song and rock it up instead of just doing a cover of a cover.

One thing is at least Stevie got to hear Elliott sing without having to look at him. And even though he could not see Katharine, I bet he still wanted to nail her.

I wish that Kevin would have done "Jungle Fever". I did a get a good laugh during his performance though.

I would have liked to have seen someone do the "Don't Drive Drunk" psa song.

That's what me and the wife thought. Maybe Simon wasn't aware the the CP's already did the same arrangement of that song. I mean it was a great performance but not a "real world" performance. It was a cover of a cover.

We'll just have to disagree. I love Kat, but I don't feel any of your comments are true (ESPECIALLY the range part, that's just silly).

Glad to see someone else feels the same way I do and sees something magnificent in Mandisa! I think she has the best REAL personality of any of the girls.

Well now you have all seen the real Kellie Pickler. And wow, did she suck. She should thank her lucky minx that Kevin did so bad, because if he didn't, with how well Bucky sang, she had a real chance of bowing out.

I threw in 80 votes for Melissa (still love her no matter what), and I dropped a couple for Chris not like he really needs them.

Dropped a few votes on Chris, Taylor and Miss Pickler.

... is it just me or is that everytime you see Mandisa you think of the movie poster for Palindrome?

Taylor is still my favorite hands-down, but Bucky is growing on me each week. I threw in 15-20 votes for him. Kevin was terrible but I have a feeling that Melissa is gone. Messing up the lyrics is inexcusable at this stage and she just wasn't that good or memorable enough to carry her. Ryan, Randy, and Paula are pimping Kevin so much that it should carry hem through another week (unfortunately).

It's just you, because I've never heard of that movie before.

If there is a God, Kevin will go home tomorrow. He has now risen above Brenna on the list of most obnoxious, irritating contestants on AI5. His performances - bad as they are - are actually easier to watch than his "banter" with Seacrest and the judges. That is pure pain to sit through. Having said that, I fear he may stick around a few weeks but who knows? Talking back to Simon usually doesn't win votes - particularly when Simon is right on the money with his critique.

I felt (besides Kevin) Melissa was probably the worst. Kellie actually sang competantly but picked a very boring song. I hate, hate, hate Paris but she was very good tonight. I swear she sounded like Mandisa tonight but ruined the performance with her obnoxious "antics" after the judging.

Taylor, Chris, Katharine, Paris, Mandisa, Lisa, and (gulp) Bucky were all very good tonight. The rest were average to poor.

Why thank you Josh, I'm glad you approve my opinion. JacksModernLife asked "So who's gonna be runner up?". And Katherine is my "hands down" choice. I have nothing against Mandisa. She's got an outstanding voice. I just happen to feel Katherine is a better performer.

Entertaining:

Chris - while more Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and less Stevie Wonder, the performance is honest and on-point. Now, the whole mic-stand thing just doesn't work for a bald guy.
Taylor - vocally okay, but passionate about deliverying a fun performance.

Good:

Katharine - hated the dress, made her look preggers. The vocals were good, but I didn't care much for the song, so overall, it wasn't all that entertaining to me, definitely not in the "we got a hot one tonight" category that Randy assigned to her performance.
Mandisa - what I was afraid of for Mandisa was that she was going to be mainly effective as a belter of songs, and that when she's forced to start with more subtleness, it just doesn't connect with the audience. So I don't think she's got it all in the vocal department.
Elliott - consistent, but not a good song for Elliott, oddly enough, so it kinda bored me.

Precocious:

Paris - effortless singing through the different gears of the song, but I didn't really connect with it all that much.
Lisa - yet another reason to institute a 18-and-over age floor because under-18 year olds shouldn't be singing and performing "Signed, Sealed and Delivered". I got sort of bored in the middle of her performance.
Kevin - he's like a cartoon character brought to life, usually on tempo and pitch, but having fun with a song that he's also too young to be singing.

So-so:

Ace - didn't think it was possible to sing a Stevie Wonder in mostly falsetto, and I don't think I ever do want to experience that ever again.
Bucky - dug the hair, but never quite got over the hump with "Superstitions".
Melissa - eh, first I was confused by her singing "Premonitions" when it was announced that she was singing "Lately", so that bothered me for about half the song, and then just never really bought into her performance, so I lost interest.

Poor:

Kellie - the total makeover was a mess, and she was like a deer in headlights singing a Stevie Wonder song. If she didn't really know of him, why was she all emotional and crying during the group singalong with Stevie in the room?

Elliott was pretty good, but I was totally distracted watching him try to sing around those jagged chiclets in his mouth.
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmnnnnnnnn! There's a lot of hate in your heart brother! I hate Chicken Little too, but you wish him dead?! His mom (who looks like something out of ILM's creature factory) would be heartbroken!

Gotta agree about Elliott. His mouth is a bit jarring to look at.

Anyone else want to see Katharine dressed up like Wonder Woman?

Re: Kevin's mom. LOL! ILM creature. Or the farmer's wife in "Babe".

Re: Elliott. The camera just needs to stay eye level or above. NEVER chest or below. How many rows of teeth does that boy have!??

Re: Katherine. You nailed it (and I know most would like to). But YES! She does look like Wonder Woman now that you pointed it out.

Bo Bice was a very good performer with a so-so voice, Chris is a very good performer iwth a great voice. There's a reason why he's the favorite to win at this time.

Personally, I dropped about 50 votes for Kevin (I like him, hope he sticks around a few more weeks), as well as 10 each for Katharine and Elliot, and a handful for Chris (not that he needs them though). Honestly, an hour after voting began, it was for Kevin that had the second-most busy signals (or most chance of a busy signal per call, behind Chris). Plus... Kevin is the pick by the website "Vote for the Worst": http://www.votefortheworst.com/ai5.html
So he's got the grandma vote, the 13 year old girl vote and the vote for the worst vote, and the sympathy vote because he's such a likeable kid (I'm in the last group, if it matters).

I'm going with Melissa going home tomorrow.

I'm voting for my usual favorites, Melissa and Taylor, but I have to throw some votes to Chris tonight because he straight up owned everyone's ass. My goodness. I felt like I was watching a whole different show. He's awesome.

Bucky and his hair and Pickler were very bad tonight. Elliott wasn't as good as usual either. However, no one touched the awful that is Kevin. I am tired of this joke. Make it end.

Man, Melissa was awful. Almost as bad as Kevin. Send those two home please.

Kellie is wearing thin on me. I hope it's not you jaded internet types influencing me, but she has lost her charm.

I completely missed Mandisa's performance while I was doing laundry. Just walked in as she was getting the big applause. I was annoyed, but after I saw her clip at the end I was less annoyed.

Taylor was my favorite performance of the night, and I'm not a huge fan of his, although I like him. It was good and entertaining.

Chris has been my favorite out of the guys so far, but I really wasn't feeling his performance tonight. I do think he could easily be the lead singer of any average rock band you hear on the radio.

Paris won me over tonight. I hope she sticks around for awhile, but doesn't win.

I went ahead and voted tonight, for Lisa. Called three times, got through each time. Is that typical? I hope the people who like her are voting for her.

Edited to add:

You guys notice the beast sitting behind Paula? Yikes! I was actually looking forward to her pretentious, moronic comments just so I could get another glimpse of that creature.

Kind of sad Gedeon didn't make it this far, I bet he would have had fun here. I didn't think Mandisa was that great. She's a good singer, nice presence, very talented--I can't remember her voice after she's done singing.

Lisa's very annoying, so's Paris--I don't want a shitty CD from a kid. Kevin's beyond help--he's not even in the so bad he's good category, he's just ass bad. I hope he doesn't think AI's going to help him get laid, he's still got a 22 year wait on his hands.

Pickler's full of shit, she's like one of those "dumb" country performers who made the rounds on '70s and '80s variety shows. She's not that stupid--and she nuked that song.

Elliot wasn't great--and loses something week by week. Chris creeps me out...

Now Taylor actually got it, Katharine did too--they're both different...

I don't know how anyone can say Melissa was awful....her singing was middle of the pack - Ace, Kelly, and Kevin sounded like shit. Elliot wasn't much better. Mellissa was better than all four of them.

Oh, and someone should tell Kellie that Jessica Simpson called; she wants her dumb-blonde/from the south shtick back (although even Jessica didn't beat the blonde thing to death like Kellie is)...

BTW, did anyone see the Angel of Death sitting 2 rows behind Lisa's dad?
