24 writing is a joke

I just learned that a couple character scene deaths were done at the last minute just because some spoilers were leaked on a website.

IE - 24, season 3. one of the character deaths was supposed to be a fake staged death, but since this info was leaked on a a website, the writers changed it at the last minute to make the character die for real.

Also, a character in season 3 was supposed to die, but since his "Death" was leaked on a website, they changed it at the last minute to keep him/her alive.

IMO, this is just retarded. Do the writers take the stories so lightly and just go for shock value only? For gods sake, a very small portion of the viewers actually read the spoilers, and its their loss. The writers should, plain and simple, write a good story and stick to it.

Major characters like these are very valuable, because you never know if the actor will stay with the show in the long run or not. Writers, don't make the decision to kill off or keep characters based on what was leaked to a spoiler website, please thats just ridiculous.

yes, chappelles death scene was better than a staged death, but writers still shouldn't make decisions based on some spoiler website.

This thread sucks. Who gives a shit whether or not they changed their mind. End result being good is what's important.

Alright, suppose the info was leaked ahead of time that Jack's "death" in season 4 was a staged death.

So then what if they turned that into a real death?

We'd have 24 without jack.

I don't care if they make last minute decisions or not, what I don't like is the fact that they ditch the original storyline taht they wrote just because a few internet nerds know about it.

now imagine on the show Lost if they reshot the death scene of that blonde girl just because the spoiler sites revealed her death.

now we'/d have to deal w/ that annoying blonde every week.

Good thing Lost doesn't go for only shock value the way 24 does.

Except...they didn't do that.

Don't use sarcasm if you're going to ignore the facts.

There are alot of times when incorrect info is leaked just to throw people off though. I'm sure not every case of this is because of spoilers.

Exactly.

If they changed their mind on a few deaths, I don't care. They kill people at a pretty good clip so they have a lot of deaths to deal with. Besides, Chappelle's death was damn good TV, so it all worked out.

Watch much Lost? They killed her the first season. They kept touting they were going to kill someone all season so they killed her only deciding to keep her around and string the audience along longer until another cast member bit it for real.

Count me in as one who doesn't care. It is a plot driven show, not a character study. How much character development do you want in a 24 hour time span anyway? The only character that is untouchable is Jack. There would be no show without him. They have shown time and time again since the first season that no character is safe. How is this news? Who cares when they change it as long as they pull some riviting tv from it?

If anything this proves the writers/producers can change things at will and make them work, unbeknownst to the audience... until two years after the fact.

Spock's death was leaked well before Trek II hit theaters. So they had him "fake die" in the opening scene.

Why not? What's wrong with that?

I guess movies shouldn't have test screenings either.

You do realize that they still write it as they go along. So changes made during mid season are a given to reflect what is working and not working in the show. Learn to deal with it.
