I hate to say this i really do.
I am a huge Conan O'Brien fan and watch him every night, andy richter is funny but this show....
Was not good. What went wrong?... the show had no laughs.
I wish controls the universe was still on, that was genius comedy, this not so much.
I can't wait for 30 Rock to return. I really want Andy Richter to go back to late night, him and Conan are fucking hilarious.
But i think Conan is great on his own, Andy Should take Carson Daly's place and it would be Conan followed by Last call with Andy Richter....
that would be genius on NBC's part.

Well, I enjoyed it a lot. Not many (if any) laugh out loud moments but I liked the characters. The tone was consistent and the pacing was good. I'ver read several reviews that say that subsequent episodes are funnier so I'll stick with it (I'm not going to watch them online).
By the way, Harve Presnell was great. Loved the "hard boiled" dialog. I remember seeing him in a touring production of "Annie" that I went to with my family back in the early 80s. The show as a whole was a bit too syrupy for me but he was great as Daddy Warbucks. I don't know if he has sung any in his frequent TV and movie roles but he is a Broadway musical vet and just about the only person who could really sing in the movie "Paint Your Wagon" (his big number was "Mariah").

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this kind of reaction.
Given the premise, the people in it, and the fact I'm already watching NBC for the whole night anyway, I'll be sticking with it while it's still on.
I'll take this show's "humor" (or lack thereof) over The Winner any day.

Weakly entertaining, but that's about it. At least it wasn't dreadful.

Just saw the show after seeing Andy as the guest on Conan. Andy said the reviewers pegged him as bland and doughy. I would probably agree with that. Although there were a few funny moments so I'll give it anohter shot next week before I completely write it off.

I really wanted to like it but it was a terrible show. Not a single laugh in the whole 30 minutes. I almost felt embarrased for Andy until I realized that he got a fat paycheck for this monstrosity.
I can't see any way it lasts more than another 5 episodes at the most.

I love Andy...really do. This episode sucked. Was it suppose to be funny? I think if they focused more on the people that run stores in the stripmall the show would be just a tad bit funnier....sigh. I'll stick to my 'Andy Ritcher Controls the Universe' re-runs on the HD channels.

I finally watched this last night and I would agree with you. While this is not as good as ARCtU, it is better than most other sitcoms that are churned out every year, and I like this better than In Case of Emergency and Knights of Prosperity.

Even situational and character driven comedies should elicit laughs, right? I really, really wanted to like this, and while it did have a couple of moments, it wasn't all that funny. It didn't help that I pretty much hated most of the parts that involved the main premise (him being a detective). I feel pretty much the same way about Knights of Prosperity... where are the laughs?
