You know, everything happening in this episode follows a semi-logical path, yet it's tripping me the fuck out.

Didn't start off great (the psych lady, Hurly's crush, is annoying), but it's getting there, so far so good.

First episode without a pre-island flashback, that Ethan sure was a nice guy.

Is it just me, or is Clare (Emilie de Ravin) a bad actress?

I have NEVER liked her as an actress! DESPISED her in Roswell! She has that Rene Zellwegger "Peeyew! Something stinks face!"

OK, why did Mr. Eko feel the need to confess to Henry?

Some interesting finds Kate made. I wonder if she's going to tell anyone right away.

Emilie was just butchering her scenes with Rousseau in the medical hatch looking for the medicine. That was just painful.

Mr. Eko had a little fun with Henry.

Can't believe Locke fell for Henry's psyche game (making Locke feel inadequate in comparison with Jack's authority). Lame.

Kate's find was huge. I was a little concerned she wasn't going to get out of there with that information.
But the medical center seemed deserted, it couldn't have been that long ago that Claire was there. And, even more recent Mr. Friendly was in "costume" in the jungle saying 'you cross this line, I kill you'.
So it looks like the "vaccine" was the same that Desmond was taking. IIRC, he didn't take all of the vials, just grabbed a handful, so there should still be some in the hatch. Whether or not they have a syringe, I don't know.

Good episode. Nice reveal on the locker room find by Kate. Time for a few week hiatus again

So I guess the Others are just acting the part. Pretty good episode except for Claire's terrible performance(pleeeeeeease kill her off!) and Locke's tantrum at the end.

The campaign to assasinate Locke's character traits continues. First he is dumb enough to get all the guns stolen. Now he's dumb enough to let the enemy talk him into turning on his allies.

Here's what we learned:

- Ethan is an Other
- The Others planned to steal Aaron and kill Claire
- Alex is with the Others and saved Claire
- The vaccine is the same one that Desmond had (same numbers). Is Desmond an Other?
- There is / was an infection on the island
- Mr. Friendly was in the hall with Ethan
- Mr. Friendly doesn't have a real beard, he's an actor
- There's someone above Mr. Friendly (Hanso?)
- The mobile in the nursery had Oceanic Airplanes!
- Rousseau saved Claire

I've missed a lot of the episodes prior to tonight's episode. Could someone fill me in on how Kate's find was significant?

So does the prop findings lend more credence to the "there were a limited amount of 'others' faking out the jack etc into thinking they were many" theory? I would imagine so.

Also, perhaps Henry Gale is not lying. What would his motive be to manipulate Locke? Just to let him go?

Did anyone recognize the song that played when Claire turned on the mobile? I couldn't pick anything up, but it certainly fits the type of things that would be used as future clues/references.

Finally, I also did not get why Eko cut his beard either.

How I took it:

That was his badass pimpin' drug dealer beard. He confessed his most recent (and final sin) so he cut the final sign of his old bad self to start anew.

i had my closed captioning on and they showed the song as "Catch a Falling Star". it goes like...Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket, never let it fade away (I only know that b/c it was sung in Love Actually.

the first thing that popped in my head when he cut off his beard was cutting off a "devil-like" beard.

I hope they reveal why Locke (and others) are reverting back to their old ways that benefit no one. Locke seems to be reverting back to his pre-srew by dad gulability.

I'll second the guy who said that next season I'll wait for the DVD's. Either that, or wait till the Tivo gets 8 episodes and then watch them on a weekend. The breaks on this show are beyond maddening, even for a die hard fan like myself. It sucks the life out of the show. Meanwhile, Battlestar and The Shield hit me hard every week. What makes network shows so different that they can't follow that model?

As for tonight's episode, great episode - I really dug the fact that there were no 'flashbacks' from their previous life - really injected the show with life. These day I find myself listless wading through what seems like meaningless flashbacks waiting to get back to the plot on the island... Lindelof needs to let go of the flashbacks or at least use them more sparringly.

I don't think they can or should abandon the flashbacks, but it makes sense to me to limit them in most episodes to 1 or 2 per episode with occasional leave to have no flashbacks on occasion and to have lots on other occasions.

I wonder when they'll switch it up a bit and give us episodes from the POV of The Others.

Easily the most disappointing development of this season. They take their strongest character, and by far the most likeable because of it, and weaken him to the point of him becoming an afterthought, if not outright disliked. Stupid. Unless of course there is some master plan for season five that will redeem him.

Decent episode. Agree about the Locke stuff, it just made him look weak.

Wonder why that hatch/medical facility was abandoned. Perhaps they thought it was compromised?

The two "knobs" on Mr. Eko's beard represented the men he had killed. Once he had confessed the sin, he felt absolved and could cut them off.
