The future of The Dead Zone isn't looking good...

From this week's TVGuide:

Is the Dead Zone dying? It seems that way. Reps for the USA network series (which is due to return for its fifth season on June 11) have confirmed to TV Guide that the cast is no longer under contract. And that includes the show's leading man, Anthony Michael Hall. "We still hold an option for a sixth season with Lionsgate (which owns the Stephen King propery)," says the USA publicity v.p. Jean Guerin. "But no decision will be made about a pick up until August, after we know how season 5 has performed. Even then, the show wouldn't go back into production until 2007-A ghastly wait that has most of the cast scrambling for new jobs on pilots. Sources close to Hall say he has a vested interest in staying available because he's one of Dead Zone's producers and has a sweet profit-participation deal. In fact, there's an interesting option floating around the halls of USA: Keep Hall in the Zone and do the show without his costars.
While it wouldn't be the same show without the rest of the cast, I guess it could be interesting if Johnny takes his abilities on the road to help people.

Last season was pretty bad, hopefully they pick up the quality in the next one.

Yeah, my wife and I really enjoyed the first few seasons but, and this is weird, ever since they changed the theme music we found ourselves watching it less and less, to the point where it just faded away from the Tivo.

Kinda sad really, because I was very impressed in the first few seasons how many creative ways the writers came up with to use his abilities.

I'd be a little bummed out to see so much of the cast leave the show but I would probably still watch it. The supporting cast started to annoy me during the last season and a few twist to the show could certainly improve things.

As for the theme song I have a thing about putting the themes from shows I enjoy on my cell as ringers. The first theme was so bad I passed and then when I found out they made a new theme I was amazed to hear it was even worse than the first piece of garbage.

Dead Zone on the road would be okay only if they have sad walking away music like the The Incredible Hulk.

I only watched the first few episodes of Season 4 and wasn't impressed (The 1st episode which would have been the Finale was great, the next 2-3 sucked). I hope to catch up on re-runs. Hopefully Season 4 will come out so I can catch-up before Season 5.

Thinking about this show going away makes me very very sad. As long as Anthony Michael Hall is there, I will watch. I adore him in this role.
