They must have been holding on to that SARS Guard skit for years.

Pretty pitiful brainstorming on the part of whoever came up with that SARS skit...

"Hey...you know what your name sounds like?"

Sarsgaard has been a shitty host. He's uses the cards and still fucks up the lines, plus he's cracked up several times

They must've replaced the tv during the hotel skit. Notice how the video 1 display came up. That's pretty crazy that he actually broke the tv. I wonder if the stage hand had to give him the remote because they weren't sure if the other remote would work with the second tv.

I liked Sarsgaard. I'd never heard of him, he screwed up his lines, the skits were mostly bad (the first 30 minutes were good), but he had a unique style...

This is the first time I've watched in a couple months. Absolutely awful. Only one skit was tolerable, and that was the hotel skit. Quite frankly, if it had gone perfectly, it would have been one of the worst skits in the show. I mean really, think about how the skit would have played out had Sarsgaard not done whatever he did to the TV. Dratch would have remained monotone until the end, when she changed her dialogue. Awful.

Sad when this episodes only bright point was a massive screw-up.

I’ll go with a on this one. No bad skits, even the Carol one was okay. Sarsgaard was not a great host. He seemed to be enjoying himself, but he messed up several times.

CNN 360
Myers as Anderson Cooper. Ray Nagin, mayor of New Orleans, and Hilary Clinton are on to defend their recent racial statements. Jesse Jackson is also on and takes the ‘chocolate city’ reference and runs down the list of races and their possible dessert counterparts, ie Asian would be custard. Pretty funny for an opener, thanks to Hammond as Jackson

Monologue
PS brings up his filmography as a creepy guy and shows some backstage footage of him freaking out the cast, like cornering Amy Poehler and asking her if her building has any way to sneak in. Good, but would’ve been better if PS had a more extensive list of movies, not just Boys Don’t Cry from ten years ago.

Nelson’s Baby Toupees
Recorded commercial parody fighting against Male Infantile Baldness, babies with no hair. Clever, with a few cute shots of babies with big toupees.

Target cashier
Wiig reprises her role as the oddly-accented, easily-distracted, Target cashier that she did with Dane Cook last month. PS as the manager who refuses to help because he’s on a break. Wiig made the whole bit with her characterization.

Pirate convention
I thought this was hilarious. A convention of pirates who come up with new ways to yell, “ARRRR!” Where to have the next convention? How about ARRRkansas. Silly, I know, but I laughed every time they all screamed. Special guest at the convention, Peter SARRRsgARRRd, only brought in for his last name. He was not happy, until he started mentioning his movie titles, like GARRRden State. My favorite of the night.

Carol
Sanz as the big skank, Carol. This time she’s at a art gallery opening. “I hung some of these paintings with my own two hands.” “I’d like to see how hung YOU are with MY own two hands!”. Of course, Sanz cracked himself up, but not as bad as usual.

”Young Chuck Norris“
A digital short, like “Lazy Sunday” from a few weeks ago. This one is a rock video with Samberg walking through Central Park as a young Chuck Norris, kicking ass. Undoubtedly, this was inspired by the Chuck Norris fact list floating around on cyberspace somewhere. Not as crazy delicious as LS, but okay.

Cat Fancy Magazine
PS as the editor, firing writer Myers for making up stories about cats. They even mentioned the cyclops cat. Of course, there are live cats climbing all over the place during the scene. PS was really off here.

Weekend Update
Jokes about the new OBL threat tape, more of a “Greatest Threats” rather than anything new. Gore & Kerry are shown, badmouthing Bush while their bitterness shows. Highlight was Droop Barrymore coming on with huge fake hanging breasts as a joke because she was at the Golden Globes braless the other day.

Gays in Space
The crew at a bar in a space station. PS sounded exactly like the main guy on “Yes Dear” Dratch, Fey, and an extra come on as lesbians. Standard gay jokes, but not too bad.

Hotel Room
PS as a weary traveller in a hotel room, unable to turn off the hotel information blurb on the television. Eventually, he’s talking back to the TV. PS accidentally disconnected the TV so they had to switch to a different camera shot and we saw crew members scurrying around to fix it. Dratch was doing the hotel information. Funny ending as PS kissed the TV and the onscreen Dratch kissed back.

Phone tapping
The feds are tapping a phone call between two old ladies. Every buzzword like bomb and terror get the feds’ attention, then they switch off when they realize the old ladies are just gossiping. Of course, when the feds disconnect, the old ladies switch to their plot to blow up the White House. Short, and good.

Sarsgaard SARS Guard
The “critically acknowledges” actor PS bought up thousands of face masks during the SARS scare from a few years back, now he’s trying to unload them for the bird flu. Basically just one joke here, but it worked. It would’ve worked better during the actual SARS scare, but what can ya do?

I think it is important to note that the Cat Fancy sketch was a parody of Sarsgaard's movie Shattered Glass http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0323944/

In that movie, Hayden Christensen is revealed to be fabricating articles for The New Republic. It was a very odd choice for a parody, since like no one saw it.

Pretty poor show. Saarsgard was not a good host at all, never a big fan of his anyway. Only funny moments were the screw ups on the hotel sketch. I laughed when I realized the TV was supposed to stay on. Whoops.

And I may get flamed for this, but this was my first listen of The Strokes, and I thought they sucked. Sounded like U2, except, you know, not good.

Next week is a rerun, Cook's episode from earlier this year.

I don't know why the staff can't realize that the original Carol skit was carried by the whole cast pitching in, not Sanz acting like an idiot. Although, he's a bit funnier when breaking character than Fallon was.

How the hell to you manage to break a television so easily? That really capped off a bad night for Saarsgard.

Yeah, we didn't get to see the fuck-up. Sarsgaard looked down and there was the remote. There was a lot of weird edits. No intros to certain skits or the last Strokes song. It was as if they joined the show in progress after each new skit, after the hotel sketch.

I can't see how anyone would give this even a mediocre review, let alone a positive one. Absolutely horrible.

Worst of the season that I remember.

Most of this was brutal stuff, it's like there's two to three casts on here. Sarsgaard? He messed up more than Tom Brady did.

I think you meant...

The writers for this show should be fired. I like that pirate sketch, but that's it. Thank god for The Strokes. Their new cd kicks ass. Man, why is Dane Cook coming back already? Are they that hard pressed to get guests to come on? Steve Martin should be good.
Looks like you need to fire your writers, too.

'Arrrr I'm a Pirate!' I agree that was the only funny skit IMO.

The Strokes were ace!

Yeah, well, he's not all that great of an actor either. Only a matter of time before that dawns on the industry.
