They seem to think it was never done by Billie Holiday

It was interesting seeing person after person with a film backstory - which normally means they are going on, getting turned down. And the girl who got a yes from Randy and Simon, but a no from Paula (the first time I've seen that happen though this is only the second season I've watched).
And as much as I'd like to see a guy go far, there hasn't been any I've liked but there have been a few girls have been really good.

That show was just brutal. The only semi-interesting thing was the dude with the gray hair. You know the show is bad when the best thing was at the very end on the previews of tomorrow's episode with the Randy look-a-like.

OK, admittedly I'm not the biggest AI fan in the world, but I've been sitting through a lot of the audition shows with the wife (who seems to get a kick out of them) and after tonight I have to ask: Are these shows really so entertaining to fans of AI that you want weeks worth of them before the competition finally starts? It seems awfully repetitive and utterly boring at this point. Don't fans of the show just want them to get on with the Hollywood part already? Hasn't it been something like 8 hours of auditions already? How much is enough?

Weirdly enough, the fans of AI would feel cheated if the audition shows didn't get aired. Plus, it's a marathon process, it's how the show builds momentum for certain contestants (fair or not). Plus, it allows Fox to milk their advertisers for all they are worth in the month of January, and then February sweeps centers around the Hollywood auditions, and by the time May sweeps comes around, the ratings for the final 3-4 episodes are milked for even more ad dollars.

What I have a harder time understanding is how fans (like my wife) seem to still be eating up the 10th or 12th hour of simple auditions in a three or four week period as much as the first. I can only hear Simon say, "You are the worst singer in the history of this competition" and Randy say, "What up dog?" and Paula do whatever it is that she does so many times a night before it begins to lose some of its meaning. And the interesting contestants have been spread micro-thin through the shows I've seen.
The deal breaker for me was the one night they built up the heavy set black girl as the most outrageous thing in the history of the show for almost two hours, then it turns out that all she did was get kind of mad and swear a lot as long as they kept following her with cameras as she was trying to leave. BFD. They played it up all night like she was going to go Godzilla all over their asses. I had fallen for the hype and afterwards felt dirty and violated.

And after the one hour show tonight (Wednesday), next Tuesday is the last audition show (also one hour) with next Wednesday being the first Hollywood show.

Well, if yesterday Vegas audition show was the worst, tonight's Austin one was not any better.
I'm glad that there's only one more audition episode to go before Hollywood.
