Looking back, I think I laughed the hardest over the little Harry Potter-looking guy in the Izod shirt. I'm not sure why... he wasn't the worst. Oh, it was hearing "The Weight" sung like that. Comedy Gold!

rkndkn 01-18-06 07:14 PM

Yesterday's premiere was more irritating to me than amusing -- I HATED how they let some of the bad singers go ON AND ON just to embarass them. The judges also seemed excessively snippy with each other.

At least "Rockstar" has been greenlit for another season, and that's much more my type of music anyway. . .

big whoppa 01-18-06 07:26 PM

I don't like all the people who get on just to be on TV. It's so plainly obvious. Not the disillusioned sound deaf ones but the tv hams. I've just started watching Idol a couple minutes ago and I've seen many cases of this.

All you veiwers in the Chicagoland. Tan girl is going to be on the news fox32 at 9:00,

big whoppa 01-18-06 07:57 PM

They're playing the tune from "The Crying Game" to the guy who looks and sounds like a girl.

sorry if repost

Oh man, "It's Pat" was just embarrassing to watch. The judges were awfully mean to the people in the first round auditions. Must be getting bored with it.

AI really needs to stop giving sooooo much time to the terrible auditions and at least show some more of the good ones. It's like 64 people got through so far, and we've only heard 10 of them (and they don't sound that great IMO). The 16 year-old girl in the hot pink shirt was pretty good, but how come she said she was in Variety magazine as an up & coming star? Does she really need this?

I would love to see how many of the "terrible" auditions are just really good actors putting on a show. Like that dude with the plaid shirts who called himself "Flawless". If he came out tomorrrow and said it was all just an act, he'd definitely get some major exposure.

Josh-da-man 01-18-06 09:36 PM

"The Crying Game"

Maybe it's just me, but half the time I can't tell the "good" singers from the "bad" ones. Most of them sound like crap, even if the judges are raving about them.

If that nut was a fake, then he should be given an Emmy, an Oscar, a Tony, a SAG award, and the Publisher's Clearinghouse Sweepstakes, because nobody in the history of the world could be that good an actor.

Was a little creeped out by the tiny cowboy. Of course, one of his family told him to "get r done". Seriously.

Oh dear God, IT'S BACK!! I am drawn to it and repelled at the same time....

The little cowboy tonight was cute AND creepy, not a bad voice, but all I kept thinking was that if he got past the Hollywood elimination, he would just simply be eaten alive! I fear for his innocence....

And really, what the hell was with "The Crying Game" boy? And the mother!! -- "oh, Zachary is just unique!" -- her of the white lipstick. Geez!!

I forgot how much I love this show!

gnradd21 01-18-06 10:09 PM

Ok everyone who do you think will make it further, the spazzy possessed guy from the first night or the nervous little cowboy who sang to a turkey? If the cowboy calms down and takes voice lessons he might last a few rounds in Hollywood. I expect the other guy will get laughed off the stage on the first night. What made Randy and Paula think he had any potential whatsoever? It isn't right to let someone through just for the entertainment value. *shocked* How could a reality show do this?*shocked* :D

nazz 01-18-06 10:49 PM

The Mini-Brokeback cowboy damn near freaked me out as bad as Zachary. It's kind of too creepy to be entertaining.

Kelly Clarkson (or her management team) is not allowing the license of any of her songs to be used by the contestants on AI.

X Factor/Pop Idol (UK) is like this also where they have so many crap auditions at the beginning to make you laugh. :) Not sure if anyone here has seen it (I doubt it) :) Though Simon Cowell also judges X Factor.

A girl Tuesday night used one of her songs....doesn't really count though.

Charlie Goose 01-19-06 08:34 AM

What about the one girl that was evicted, then went to stay with her cousin, and they're getting evicted again? Her entire family had shirts made that spelled out her name. So you can't pay your rent, but you can drop $250 for specially made shirts.

As for the Kelly Clarkson controversy, I doubt she has anything to do with it herself.

Heat 01-19-06 09:22 AM

Yes, that cowboy was pretty unusual and I also was wondering how the girl afforded to go to Denver but couldn't afford to pay her rent.

Also, Clarkson will now let American Idol contestants use some of her songs.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/TV/0....ap/index.html

(from the story) Former "American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson, subject to a scolding from Simon Cowell for not letting her songs be used by new contestants on the show, has agreed to do so, a spokesman says.

potvin48 01-19-06 09:38 AM

Some of these contestants get a few minutes of home life shown on TV.

I believe that these are the people who will ultimately make the top 12. Why would they go out to their house and make a mini-documentary about them if they're not going to be on the show that long?

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (AP) -- They sang like angels for their audition on Tuesday's "American Idol" premiere, but a pair of Memphis twins may sound more like jailbirds by the time the show goes live from Hollywood.

Terrell Brittenum, 28, has been in jail since January 10 on an outstanding warrant for charges related to the illegal purchase of a car in Rockdale County, Georgia, east of Atlanta.

He and his brother, Derrell, are accused of using another man's identity to buy a 2005 Dodge Magnum in June.

Derrell was expected to turn himself in on the same charges of forgery, theft by deception and financial identity fraud, The Commercial Appeal newspaper reported.

The brothers auditioned together in September for the hit TV show "American Idol" and impressed the show's prickly judges to continue to the next round. Segments of the show have already been recorded and will air during the next few weeks.

Fox Broadcasting Co. refused to discuss the Brittenums or their status on the show.

The return of the show Tuesday drew its best-ever season premiere ratings with 35.5 million viewers. It was a 6 percent increase over last year's debut, according to preliminary Nielsen Media Research figures. (Read story.)

Heat 01-19-06 09:55 AM

Well, they’re gone. This would be the 2nd pair of twins, the ones with the goatees, the first pair were teenagers.

'Idol' twins charged with forgery, theft

And i shot the sheriff....... rotfl rotfl.... Howard Stern was playing their music with the auditions.... freaking hilarious

Patman 01-19-06 07:43 PM

USA Today reported that the Tuesday night premiere averaged 35 million viewers, and Wednesday night's episode brought in 33 million viewers. I guess the fans are tired of the trainwrecks that make up most of these audition episodes.

Were these the two that serenaded Paula, with the layered polos and "popped" collars? Didn't they claim they were only...16?!

Well, two million are tired at least.

I think it was the twins on Tuesday's show, the fat ones. Someone will have to verify because I'm not sure.
