That was seriously a masterpiece of comedy writing and acting. We watched it and instantly rewound it and watched it again. Just from the very opening seconds with Michael's phone call panic it was brilliant.
I only wish they would have a little more show during the credits like they do for Earl (which I only know because the DVR catches the end of that show when padding out the Office)

I can't believe how consistantly AWESOME The Office is. Every week it one ups itself. I was skeptical after season 1 (which I did really like) that it would ever come close to the heights of the British version, but clearly after the episodes we've seen so far this season, it has risen above and beyond. Honestly, I forgot about the car wreck because it was in the opening credits and seemed like a throwaway thing. Loved Pam hugging Dwight before they left, saying that it wouldn't ever be the same again.
Just a great episode all around. I love it when Jim gets exasperated and drops any pretense of Michael being in charge. Totally willing to call him on his shit.

The "Dad?" line was brilliant and perfectly timed, with long pause before it was delivered. Almost as if Dwight was trying to recognize who the person was.

But with the episode last night, I think we will see a more drastic turn. The plots are getting more outrageous and less realistic, a perfect example was the opening scene last night. It's almost like the switch from the "everyday" material of the Larry David-Seinfeld era to the more ridiculous plots of the final few seasons of that show.

Ratings were up this week. CSI was a repeat, of course, but it's promising that people are at least trying this show out (unlike Arrested Development) and hopefully getting hooked.

I can't remember if this came before or after the CAT Scan, but Jim called Pam ("Dunder Mifflin, this is Pam" "Dunder Mifflin, this is Jim!") to let her know that Dwight would be OK. While Pam was on the phone with Jim, the blonde chick who likes Dwight was trying to eavesdrop. So when Pam got off the phone, she told Oscar (loudly enough that the blonde chick could hear) that Dwight would be OK, which was a nice way for Pam to give her the info without embarassing her by acknowledging that Pam knows about her feelings for Dwight.
